Is one problem of interpretation on parable is the premise that we must “understand” them at all? Couldn’t they be used to illumine a reality such as the kingdom of god that Jesus is trying to bring you into. So the appropriate response to a parable is transformation so there is no point at which you can kill the parable except for turning it into a puzzle rather than a technology of sorts?
