The tire is soft, and it's the surface a hardwood board needs to butt-up against to not only hold IT's weight, but the weight of every board above and below it, and still keep the tire a symmetrical circle. Joining all the boards to some kind of backing after they're pre-measured and then stretching the tire around them would work, but this method is making an oval. At best. She's skipping a step or 2 in the filming. It's the Internet, so everything looks a lot easier than it is in real life.
