I know it's a joke but they actually made dozens of different types of nukes for artillery. Even down to 5 inch shells and smaller. The Russians too in even greater variety. There's even a nuke fired by a large grenade launcher (M28). At some point American battleships such as Missouri where equipped with nuclear shells for their main guns. And most submarines carried nuclear torpedoes. Including the Russian B-59 that almost used them once.

agreed mate, but the public didnt have access to this hi tech stuff(in its day) and neither was any TV or movies using it. The army always has better tech than "civvies". i have noticed it a lot looking at old military footage, you see displays and screens/computers/tech that looks like it shouldn't belong in that era. also, no one at that time or for a few, few years after would see these types of military footage, most people now wouldnt know whether it should be there or not
but how did they made those shoots ? I'm interested because you see absolutely devastating effect on the bus, but the camera holds still, doesnt move at all. Arent those videos fake ? Please explain if you know, Im just curiously asking about it
They were modified sounding rockets (typically used to gain scientific data from high altitudes) that left a smoke trail behind them at set distances from the detonation site. They were used to gather data on things such as the progression of the blast shock wave and other data.
They load the nuclear round like its so delicate that it might go off at the slightest touch, then they blast the fucking thing out the end of a barrell at a 1000miles an hour. LOL
The shell used the same gun type design as the Hiroshima "Little Boy" bomb. The Enola Gay's B-29 crew were so afraid of crashing on take off and obliterating Tinian Island, that the bomb was not armed until after take off. By 1953, they had likely improved the safety of this type of warhead. It was used in other applications, like a 16 inch naval gun shell.
All i know is, they had external contact switches which they put into the bomb prior to dropping it. With these switches, the ignition circle and the control unit were active and before that, they only had "dead switches" in the plug holes so that the bomb wouldn't blow up on the airfield or right after the start. And it was designed to explode in 500...600 meters altitude (or approx. 1600... 2000 feet in America)
They are ether protected by the script or in the overall narrative of the story the camera man doesn’t even exist to the characters so he can survive any situation you throw him in 😂
Quack Gameplays and Creation comes destruction as what you would call a yin and yang two opposites that at the end is the same is so the circle of life
Unfortunately, so true. People, especially, their leaders, cannot understand that they can kill everybody just by pressing the damn nuclear button. We all must leave in peace and protect the life with all cost
What's cool is that after they were retired in 1957, they found a use for the expensive highly enriched uranium in the nuclear shells. They were recycled into lower yield T-4 Atomic Demolition Munitions. These were the first (semi) man-portable nuclear weapons.
Just 8 years later the Russians tested the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful weapon ever created. The bomb in this video was equivalent to 15,000 tons of TNT. The Tsar Bomba was 50,000,000 tons of TNT. It could be seen 500 miles away from where it was detonated and it shattered windows up to 200 miles away.
Had the same yield as the Little Boy weapon that was dropped on Hiroshima, 15 kilotons. Little Boy was 28 inches in diameter, 10 feet long and weighed almost 10,000 pounds. The shell fired here was the W9 which was 11 inches in diameter, 55 inches long and weighed only 850 pounds. The shell traveled 6.25 miles and was detonated in mid-air by a time fuse 19 seconds after it was fired at an altitude of just over 500 feet above the ground. The gun was moved around by a pair of tractor-trailer truck cabs that lifted the gun from each end. They had a telephone connection from one cab to the other - presumably so when they came to an intersection they both took the same road.
I honestly didn't expect that by the time you could even see what's happening everything within 3 miles is already destroyed. This is definitely an awesome weapon.
see the video from kurzgesagt: what if we nuked a city, and stop trying to be edge. You spend half of your life as a slave to your own vices. Colonization is the smallest of your problems
@@puppergump4117 Cleaner way? Your fucking the entire zone up that you nuke aswell as the surrounding areas potentially other countries. Not to mentioning ruining the soil, water and other resources already there which is why you'd want land in the first place.
Can you say the same thing after your parent has been vaporized by the heat, your brother is covered in glass shards, and your children's skin has all melted away? Or can the same be said of the bereaved families of those who suffered in the last war?
Something to remember. Regardless of the form or the energy available in a nuclear blast, the radiation emitted from the blast itself is attenuated at least by half for every 600 ft of air it has to travel through to get to you. In a mile the attenuation is 1/256; that is, only one five hundredth of the radiation is still there. 2 miles, about 1/65,000. 6 miles, which is as close as civilians ever got, 1/281 trillion. Fallout, of course, is a different matter. Stating these people were "blasted by radiation" is ignorance, pure and simple.
Stating that those people were "blasted with radiation" perfectly delineates the fact that all of those observers were blasted with light at the moment of the explosion. Light is electromagnetic radiation and considering it travels just slightly over 186 thousand miles/s, my statement is correct. The comment was made strictly in relation to light (electromagnetic) radiation witnessed by those people. Thus, why I made the joke "those people were blasted with radiation..." In addition, the closest distances that civilians ever got to atomic bomb explosion is not beyond 6 mi considering such bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Before you designate someone as ignorant you might want to understand what the individual is talking about first and not generalize all "radiation" to being gamma, as the rationally ignorant do.
Yeah, I'll accept that explanation. To bad you didn't say what you meant in your original comment. Light's speed doesn't matter - what matters is that air is transparent for light, while it is not for x-rays and gamma rays, as well as for particles. Even neutrons a robbed of their energy by travelling through air. Oh, I agree about Hiroshima and Nagasaki but those weren't tests. One of the marks of an intelligent person is clear communication. That in mind, I repeat my last sentence. In his case the outcome isn't ignorance, though, but deceit.
Amazing the warhead can still detonate after being shot out of the gun. Figured atomic warheads were relatively fragile and precisely engineered. How many Gs do you suppose it experiences?
You're must be completely blind. F76 nukes look like a giant scoop of orange sherbet slowly rising out of the ground surrounded by Nintendo 64-style clouds. Crysis had much better graphics 11 years ago.

that doesnt have so much with it to do, like the ultra panavision 70 or MGM Camera 65 used from 1953, or the Super Technirama 70 is much better then many cameras from today, the hateful eight (2015) was shot with the same camera as ben hur (1959) and mutiny on the bounty (1962)
And i thought it was a nokia
film cameras are the best
agreed mate, but the public didnt have access to this hi tech stuff(in its day) and neither was any TV or movies using it.
Please explain if you know, Im just curiously asking about it
What were the vertical smoke trails to the right at the time of detonation? Smoke bombs to measure shockwave ?
They were modified sounding rockets (typically used to gain scientific data from high altitudes) that left a smoke trail behind them at set distances from the detonation site.
They were used to gather data on things such as the progression of the blast shock wave and other data.

It was used in other applications, like a 16 inch naval gun shell.
wasn't little boy a timed bomb?
Joshua Chhakchhuak yes it was
Joshua Chhakchhuak little boy was designed to go off at a certain altitude
All i know is, they had external contact switches which they put into the bomb prior to dropping it. With these switches, the ignition circle and the control unit were active and before that, they only had "dead switches" in the plug holes so that the bomb wouldn't blow up on the airfield or right after the start.
And it was designed to explode in 500...600 meters altitude (or approx. 1600... 2000 feet in America)

The first US nuclear capable missiles were only beginning to be deployed in early 1954.
l8tbraker your point being we've only had about 62 years to advance this instead of 61? I feel much better.

I had a model of that artillery weapon that I put together way back in the late/middle 50's. Wish I would have kept it!
I honestly didn't expect that by the time you could even see what's happening everything within 3 miles is already destroyed. This is definitely an awesome weapon.

Those people were blasted with radiation from the explosion.
more like blasted with Freedom
Yeah its like no one have died from a bit of radiation, these men were tough back in the day.
Weight of the shell is 850 lb (390 kg).
Muzzle velocity is 2500 feet per second.
Length of the barrel is 38.5 feet.
15,000-30,000g is apparently typical for an artillery shell.
