J'utilise presque la même technique pour les corsets mais j'ai appris aujourd'hui de vous comment avoir les 5 parties d'une manière simple et efficace, merci beaucoup .
Thank you so much. I am soooooooooo grateful. You are the most amazing person ever. I also love that 1 with the cups. It would also be a very cool variation. When you are ready though. I love love this videooooo
Hi! thanks for this wonderful tutorial I was wondering how do I know the bust circumference measurement if not the same you are showing on the video thank you very much
It is the measurements from your nip/bust point and your under bust. So here, you can put your bra on, then take the measurements from your nipple to the down or under your bust. What you get is what you use for the circumference.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Please can this be used to make a gown without a waist seam. That is, it will drafted from the shoulder to the full hem line of the gown.
im an A cup.should i substract 2 cm to the 7.5 cm your'e using as reference for the drawing of the circle, like you demonstrated in your other video(cup adjustment for basick bodice block pattern)?also, should i use the basic block pattern or the adjusted bodice for smaller cup pattern block(video you posted a couple days ago) in order to draft the bustier block?thanx diane!:)
Hello Flora, It would be good if you do the cup size to your block first and than yes your circle RADIUS would be 5 mm smaller for the A cup, so 7 cm. In the cup size video, the example was a AA cup and the 2 cm was the diameter. Diane
Hi Fermi, When I first learn the bustier, I learn to close many different place around the apex, if I'm not mistaking, some call it contouring. Than I realize that doesn't matter where you close, if all closure are going in direction of the apex, it comes back to enlarging the darts you already have and the amount of these closure gives more or less the value of the front shoulder dart. after your muslin is done, it's possible that you still have to close a little more or opposite give back a little, it all depend on the bust size. Diane
May I ask why do you just join the bust to waist dart with the hip level For me it meant that the stomach area was too big Thank you so much for the video It's amazing
Hello Roberto, I'm sure your block is fine, You might only have to pivot, usually in the front, part of the waist dart to the shoulder so your front waist line gets 90° with the center front. I did exactly that pivoting in my latest video. Diane
Hello Diane your videos are amazing and have helped me so much However when I draw the radius of the circle the line of the circle goes over the centre front line You said the radius for a B cup is 7.5cm And you add 0.5cm for each size I added 5×0.5 to get a radius of 10cm but there isn't enough space on the bodice I have drafted how do I increase the bust measurement The bust to waist measurements are 105cm to 79cm
Hi! I really like this tutorial, but I'd like to find out how you would calculate for a C cup. Hopefully, finding how to do that will help gals with larger sizes know how to calculate for theirs, as well. Thanks!
Hello Teira, here is my video Adjust bodice to cup size; ua-cam.com/video/06BscPbSSlo/v-deo.html For the circle, we add about 0.5 cm to the radius for each cup size. Basic pattern are usually B cup. Diane
Oh Hi Diane you amazing teacher. That circular part you drew on the bust, is it for the contouring of any size bustier? I have seen many videos on contouring of the bodice and it often confuses me as many people use different methods for it.
Hi Linkol, this measure (7.5 cm) is for a B cup, since the block I use is a standard block, but you could enlarge the radius, I would say about 1/8 inch per size of cup but never go further than 1cm (3/8 inch) from center front. For this 5 panel bustier we could also add for larger bust after tracing out the pieces right on the 1st seam. Also for larger size cup, there is more grading to do to create more (3D) volume that I will show in the cup bustier video. Diane
Diane Deziel I will explore this method. It seems easy and understandable. I am always interested in knowing the plus size techniques as most African women are much curvier and busty than the avarage woman. So you've been great help in the development of crafting well fitted garments for my plus size clients. I appreciate your incredible workmanship. Inspiring. Thank you!!!
Hi Diane, love your tutorial! I have a question though. Because you took 3 cm in the side (bust), it means 6 cm all around the bust measurements. Does the basic bodice have any ease allowance to begin with? Hope you could help😁 Merci.
Hello Sarah, Yes, the bodice block have ease, about 2.6 cm on a half bodice. Bustier should be tight specially on the top part, at waist there is no ease, but at hip you could leave a little ease. Diane
Diane Deziel wow! Thanks for the reply :) I always having problem finding tutorial for custom made bustier. This tutorial has help me a lot. Keep on teaching all of us❤️ Big love from Indonesia.. Thank you!
Hi Dena, This is a good question and almost impossible for me to answer for these reasons; 1. Each manufacturer is doing what ever they want2. It also depend on what you consider comfortable3. It depend on the fabric it's made of stretch or not4. the size of the contour 34 b or 36 b, the cup (b) is different5. The style wire to not, 1/2 cup or fullThe only way for me to find out, is trying many many bra, until I like it. On pattern, we could find measurement like;1. measure apex to apex2. find the depth you need by placing a ruler apex to apex than measure at center front from the ruler to your body in the center.3 also the circumference, measuring all around one of your breast, than divide in 2 to get the right radius to pivot.I hope this could helpDiane

Hello Teira,
