- I'm adding a value structure to a previously etched plate (line etching) using traditional rosin aquatint. The separate values are controlled with incremental applications of stop out and timed immersions in the etching tank.
Helps me a lot😊 thank you
Thank you. I’m glad it helps.
thank you for the video! So helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative tutorial. Thank you. what is the wood stripper on glass table used for?
If you're referring to the citrus strip visible about 7 minutes in, it is used for removal of the Baldwin Etching Ground (BIG) used as a less toxic alternative for hard and soft grounds. ua-cam.com/video/n44VHWE8WWY/v-deo.html
Great tutorial, Neal; best one I have encountered to date. Quick question: what stop-out are you using (it is pinkish-clear in color). I am accustomed to using dark hard ground, but it masks details underneath after it is applied. Thanks.
Thank you for your generous feedback. Regarding your question: I have also used diluted hard ground many years ago, and I don't necessarily dislike it. I've been using this product in the video, and I don't necessarily like it either, but here it is anyway: shop.takachpress.com/etching/etching-grounds/stopout/ It's pretty toxic stuff. If you find something better, I'd love to know about it.
I like the one without scraping
Thank you.
9:16 I don't recommend a hair dryer. If it gets too hot, it melts the rosin dust and affects the outcome.
Such is the case with any source of heat, including the hotplate.
@@NealCox Not necessarily. One can use cool air dry.
@@NealCox how do get a digital photo onto a plate? Also, is there a non-toxic way to create an aquatint???
