I love watching the re-potting chaos! It makes me feel so much better about myself! I should have taken a video of re-potting my husband's orange tree... entertainment at its finest!
You got a Classico pot from lechuza but they also got the LS version which has an insert you can pull out. Lechuza is a lot less wobbly and the reservoirs are much larger. Pulling out the insert is also easier because it's a whole ring.
Undeniably, Lechuza is mucho expensivo, if you know what I mean.
You might want to look into the new pon options. There's an unfertilized version that's cheaper.

I think I got a prop of that type of plowmanii in a rescue box from your shop. Hands down one of my favourite plants so thank you! I would love it to size up and mature as much as yours.
When I have a plant going into a pot that’s still too big, I have put the potting mix in a ziplock type of bag of the right size in the bigger pot.. like.. perhaps the right height but more narrow than the pot.. then cut it open on bottom, add medium around it, and then pull the bag up and cut it off when it’s time.

I use the long rectangle self watering pots for all my crawlers as well as for my ThaiCon. providing lots of room from growth.

Isn’t the drainage plug in the bottom of the Lechuza pot made for flushing too?
I use lechuza LS pots which are way better, but pricier.
The one you've got can be drained/rinsed. It's a total pain, but I just use a cheap fish tank siphon pump. Takes ages, but better than nothing.
I have lechuza pots and though I am not saying they are the best, I do want to clarify that you are able to clean out the residue at the bottom in the smaller pots just not the larger ones.

Lechuza do have some pots that are more “insert” style rather than “base-plate” style, but I’m with you that the base-plate ones are a liability.

I’ve potted plenty a plant up in semi hydro in a pot that’s too big 🤣
They are fine. I’ve even done it with soil before I changed. I always tell people that it’s my plant so don’t tell me what to do unless I specifically asked for it and you just be careful with watering 😅
Just a tip. Dunno if they the same in the UK, but an Aussie milk crate is the perfect size as a stool to do stuff on the ground. I can't find a stool that works as well.

The only reason I own a single Lechuza pot is to host my Plowmanii to accomodate it's growth. If Elho carried a similar insert/pot shape I'd have stuck to Elho fully. As for butt cutting.. I genuinely cannot keep up with the growth of my Plowmanii/Mamei.

Not all Lechuza pots are like that. I have a few with insurts just like your elho one.

Just put a pot next to it wait for it to crawl over there and set up roots and a barbecue then WHACK! Give away the ass end of the original! Then you've got a new plant at the edge of the pot that will crawl across the pot until you repeat the process or make it grow in a coil.

I think they mean 1 gallon for the water reservoir. You're right it looks very big otherwise!
