I am so grateful for the great Bill Holman! Brilliant Corners are absolutely the best, IMHO! Yet, there are so many other fantastic orchestral works of his. Thank you for sharing!
I first heard Bill Holman records in my teens 1974-1975, when I was learning saxophone and had some musician friends with whom later I was to work in some Jazz bands in my home town. Great music, great - ¡¡And difficult!!- arrangements. I am so glad that there are nowadays so many excellents musicians as those in this video that still play and are inspired by the music of Bill Holman.
Really great, thanks a lot! I fell in love with Bill Holman's writing by discovering "The Gerry Mulligan Songbook" many years ago and every new thing I hear from him is superb.
Yea _ _ I came to really love Holman and his gift for assembling top notch players . Saw them performing several times _ _ early 90's . And got to meet a great trombonist that I'd heard of for years : Bob Enevoldsen .
Mike Kaiser That’s actually offensive 😂🤣🤣🤣 it’s clearly 2020 and if syrup bottles have to be changed for being offensive I don’t think that’s goin to fly. Also Goodwin’s band is “better”. Goodwin’s performances are more intense and the band has a cleaner sound. I still love holmans it’s just goodwin’s band is just “better”. It’s not an opinion type “better” but rather correctness in playing, being clean, and maintaining the Jazz feel
"Better" is an objective descriptor; an adjective commonly utilized incorrectly when describing all things artistic, as its application nearly always correlates with a subjective personal opinion ...Like you and yours...

Superb
If flying wasn't killing our planet I'd catch a plane tomorrow. A living legend of modest proportions, if by now a bit weighted.
Willis...there's only 1.

Because someone named WastedBroccoli47 matters?
@@mkaiserme no because i think so

Casey Nathanson not better, just different...great players in both and Holman's amazing, he's been doing this since the '50s and he's still going.
