As a hobbyist wood worker that cant justify the higher prices of the festool etc i love my wen track saw! Went with the 7 1/4 and for the price difference (less than $50) it's definitely worth it over the 6.5" if not just for more blade options and availability. The extra power and variable speed is cool but extra cutting depth + blade options makes it the easiest upsell ever.

Thanks for the video. I got the saw a few weeks ago and was unpacking it today. I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the saw to plunge! LOL I knew it had to be something simple - read the entire manual. Couldn't find any place that showed the plunge release button. I had a "button" like this on a previous saw and I assumed that button had to be pushed when I powered on - but didn't realize this had a different operation on this saw. So thanks for the clarity on each piece of the saw. Very very helpful.

Very clear and concise commentary, in the UK it's marketed as Titan, (from a large hardware chain called Screwfix), the scoring feature I use when cutting melamine laminated boards (Contiboard in the UK) gives absolutely perfect chip free cuts, especially if you've fitted possibly the best blade for this saw made by Triton ( a guy, (Peter Millard) did a test on various blades from different manufacturers, the Triton came out on top, even though it was nowhere near as expensive as some others), on the dust collection front, this can vastly be improved by sealing the blade fixing screw/arbor access aperture on the saw side, masking tape will do the job, I 3D printed a clip in cover in PETG plastic, ATB from across the pond

I’ve had this saw for about 4 months now. I ran into issues cutting 1” thick red oak with the stock blade. It was burning like crazy, no matter how slow it fast I went. It didn’t matter if I took shallow cuts to get to full depth, it still burned. After replacing the stock blade it is like a different saw! I really like using it. Bought a track square and clamps and super happy with it.

Just bought the 7 /4" with 110" track and clamps for $220 on Amazon. Very surprised to find end caps for the tracks included. Makes storage easier and protects the track ends. The saw is pretty heavy, but that should help it stay in the track. Also, the saw has soft start so doesn't jerk when you start it. Other reviews have said the allen wrench provided does not fit the arbor nut. Mine works fine. This is a great machine and the price makes it even better.
It really is a great setup and the 7 1/4” is definitely the way to go imo. How bout those end caps :) I love those also. Congrats on a great tool!! And thank you for sharing!
I started with a Wen and it wasn't bad but I cut a lot of 45 degree bevels and the Wen is really bad getting an accurate angle. I ended up up grading to the Kreg and this was a huge improvement. The Wen is ok to start but if you can swing it I would highly recommend stepping up to the Kreg.

Thanks so much for the review! Have you had any experience with the makita corded track saw? I’ve never owned a track saw but would find it very useful for different projects and I’m debating between the 12 amp wen or the makita. With 110’ of track with each saw the wen is about $220 right now and the makita would be about $530. Do you find the when makes perfectly square cuts at 0? I know you said the 45 angle doesn’t feel as solid? Thanks for any input!
Thanks for sharing! I haven’t worked with the makita but I know they’re a solid company with quality tools. I can say that with Wen I haven’t had any issues at 0 degrees and I’ve ripped a lot of plywood into cabinets without issues. Hope that helps and thanks again for commenting!
just bought one. I have a compact tablesaw, and I cannot get straight cuts from it on long pieces. I have a compact jointer table - same problem: long pieces overwhelm it
CNC stands for computer numerical control, not computer navigated cutting machine. Good review on the saw. The biggest complaint most people seem to have is the issue with bevel cuts
1:52 you say you set it for 3/4" plywood. But you don't explain this. If you are cutting 3/4" and using the sacrificial foam, what is the actual depth of cut? How much do you like to go past 3/4"?
@GlennLaguna I’ll have to go back to the video to see but either way the goal is to set the depth just over the thickness of the stock so the blade is only kissing the foam sheet. Cutting not foam can also accelerate the dulling of the blade.
I see now how it can look like 1 1/2” from that angle. When you take the saw track and bottom plate of the saw into the equation the final depth is just shy of 7/8” so less than than 1/8” into the foam bar and. 👍
I was surprised that the Festool is actually not THAT much more expensive when you consider you would need to buy the Wen saw, track, and case to match what you get with Festool. Then consider the Wen has pretty much zero resale value compared to the Festool being highly sought after. Factoring that in, you are paying very little extra for the superior product. That is why I went with the best on this one...Festool.
Festool will definitely have great resale value but as the comparison goes, the corded WEN comes with 100” of track where as festool is on 55”. So excluding the case WEN is wayyy cheaper. I’ve used both while I would recommend festool for everyday use in a shop as a business, I recommend when for DIYers or a business just starting out. Definitely some good points though and thanks for sharing.

The track has anti-slip strips on the bottom. I rarely need to clamp down unless I’m cutting on a surface that the track doesn’t grip enough. Really easy and fast for things like plywood or smooth lumber. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I’m only cutting a hair past the 3/4” when I’m setting for 3/4” plywood. Hope that helps :) thanks for asking.

Heck yeah, I love my Wen. I got the Powertec tracks and I've built three kitchens with it, among other stuff. Works great.
