I ran away from home in MI at age 15 for this tour. Thankful that 99.9% of heads were safe and I never had troubles as a young girl!
The kindest tribe of humans you would ever find in those days. 💕
I was there for all 3 nights and then off to Telluride for 2 more, then Tempe, and back to Boston. Great Trip! You can't buy those memories!
This is 85 not 87
@@randycentola8300 thanks for correcting that.
A Grateful Dead show forges beautiful permanent inscriptions in the Akashic Records or whatever it is.
We knew or felt we were witnessing a high watermark in human cultural and spiritual evolution.
I’m so grateful to have experienced it.
God bless this band forever.
@@petermolenaar6555 😆😅🤣😂🥲🤑
What show do you Enjoy the most if you recall and why ?
1st and only time I was able to see the Dead - and at Red Rocks... 🙏🙏🙏
Drove from Chicago to Illinois State University and all the way to Denver without stopping. Arrived 30 minutes before the concert and scalped tickets. Saw all three concerts. Amazing memories.
One of their very best periods. I can listen to '85 all day long. You don't have to discriminate much - pick almost any one and it will be good.
my first show 11/10/85
I agree i started on the road with them to in 86-95 best time of my life damn i miss you heads and the band so much do you have a time machine by chance
Yes and no. Jerry was full blown junky at this point. Extremely heavy and in very bad shape. Their shows during this period were very inconsistent. In the 80s and of course in my opinion. Their best time was “post coma” 87/88 up til Brent’s passing in 91. 88 was a monumental year!
Gonna have to disagree. ‘85 was very touch and go. Some horrible shows come out of ‘85. Early and late ‘80’s find them much more consistent.
Kevin Tobin ur da MAN! I went 2 THIS & the Oklahoma Zoo show that YOU POSTED! Thanks 4 THESE fantastic recordings! Keep on rollin'...& whoop it ☝ up brutha! U try just a little bit more & harder 2! (🌎);·}X
My 1st show. Thanks for letting me relive it during this touvh pandemic time. Grateful and thankful.
I was at the show, me and all my dead head friends who were going to college in Boulder.
The fly high phi psi’s live on !! CU Boulder 1985
Great Dead ....... What a long strange trip it’s been.
I flew in from The U.of U. in SLC
Brent. So great, just aiding and expanding beautifully.
Love how this was recorded & preserved so you're still able to view it nearly 40 years later. Just saw JRAD at Red Rocks a couple weekends ago & it was my first time there, had the time of my life. Looks like the stage has changed a bit but the music was the same great stuff ⚡️🌹
And now I just got 2 tickets to the just announced Dead and Co shows at Red Rocks next month! Who would have known in 85. Rock On!
I was there! I also attended the '83 Red Rocks shows.
I love the PA setup too
They never let you down. Looks dangerous though.
looks pretty toasty out there ! thank you so much for these videos ... saw tons of shows in the 80's .. miss those days dearly
Yeah we're getting on but was a great time to be alive and in the know.🥀
I was here. I went to people watch mainly. It was an amazing show after all.
Wow ! Nice sharp picture ! Lovely sound
This is absolutely great!!! Wish I had a time machine so I could go back!
Thank you!! Made me day! 👊
Thank you to whoever filmed this.
Wonderful show. Thanks .
Keep it up Kevin. This stuff is legendary. Thanks again. Still can't get over the zoo 85. Mighty good.
I was there- had a tape of the show that I wore out.
Anecdote: 1986. I'm painting a house, blasting Garcia's meltdown jam in Let It Grow on the boom box. My conservative, judgmental dad walks by, stares at the tape player for a minute, and asks, "is this some kind of jazz or something?"
Yeah, dad. Sure enough.
made me laugh
simply incredible. Thanks
thanks so much for this! I was there also. I believe these were the only day shows they had played there up to that point.
Wow. I’ve seen hundreds of shows at red rocks. But this would’ve been sweet. I was 9. Lol. Grateful to see them a handful of times tho. Magic
Might Tobin never let's us down, beautiful sound everything is allrighty!
Superb audio. Grateful.
Great playing! Love the high camera angle, like being at a show.
Thank you for saying it. It's exactly the vantage point of being there.
@@michaelbruin8972 wished Brent was a little closer to the front line
It’s like he’s on an island ..
IWT :) i was dancing right above the camera. Thanks Kevin
What a grateful place to b for the greatest band in history !
loving this show such good quality recording for audience! Loving 80s dead more and more everyday
Thank you P.Togos (if I understand correctly you taped it) that pan shot at 29:58 is AWESOME. I was hoping you'd show a side shot like that. Overall shot beautifully!
my first immersion...magical...thanks for posting - brings back forgotten memories
I've fallen, and I can't get up (down)!!!
Brings back wonderful memories for me as well very Grateful to have attended!!!💥😎
Thx again
thank you
Thx Kevin💯🎶🤸🏻♀️💛☮️
Just discovered red rocks and first thought was awesome place for greatful dead to play and here I am.
I remember this run, good times at the Chief Hosa campground after the shows
Epic thanks
Cool watching them perform Space out in the daylight
Another Great show in 85!! this was my first show I went too... very cool 😎🍄🍄⚡💥💥🍺🍺👍
Epic first show! I was there, barely made it back to west coast, made it to Kaiser…
@@Justdon-s2s Oh yeah I remember you telling me that and your purple gels crumbled?😩😱
@@Justdon-s2s I was there with my cousin and it was my first time in Colorado
@@Justdon-s2s It was also my first show and I attended only 3 shows in 85..A Very Good time of life for me!! Those we're care free days of fun Enjoying myself each moment!!😁😎🤣🤣💥🍄
@@marcsimon1720 6/18/83 right now…your bro is there…you’re right about those days…trouble was different and otherwise care free!
So cool to see this from the crowd view
I was there! We all miss you Jerry
i had soooo much fun at this show!!! one for the books that fall!!!
any time we got stagger lee!!!!
thank you!!!! thank you uncle jerry!!!
Awesome day show
Bobby kept himself in good shape ! He used to run around the hotels we stayed at or just worked out + he still does at his age ! 😘
evidently, tripping balls made this band tighter and more enjoyable.
Memories shattered by watching these shows sober and older.
I'm gonna stop!
Super flurry of uploads!
Sounds good!
The band is too far away for me to c so I’m going to the next one but thank u my friend Mr. Tobin ! ❤️🐇🐰🩵🧚♀️🧚🏿♂️🧚🏼🧜♀️🧜♂️🧜🌟✨⚡️💥👽🪐🕳️🛸🚀⚡️✨❤️to u y’all !
Remember my first show being right near speaker stack further back at buckeye lake88. It sounded excellent.
What no set list? I grew up on LI. Livin in NY I got to see the DEAD at the Garden//Nassau Coll./and the Meadowlands. Then I would see Jerry at the Beacon/Then Bob at the Beacon..Ratdog...If they played that year. I/WE would go to Philly? and Saratoga Springs( the best shows )//I will never stop listening to this band. I would love to trade tapes again.. I followed the Dead 1976-1995... Thanks Jerry!! Rest Easy poppa
Hey, Albany, Hartford, and Philly aren't too far either. Different vibe out West for sure though.
Some fantastic jamming past the 1:00 mark. Really good.
Thanks for this! Great Saturday!
I'm watching this now on a rainy Saturday afternoon!
@@biblebear6795 snowy up in TORONTO
I love everything u put up for us Deadheads so we can still believe in the power of music ! I love them all but Jerry was my man ! He came looking for me in the late 80 s but went to the wrong island to find me , now who in hell that famous would come looking for anyone seeing that thy played all the time ! I was very impressed by him doing that because most of them didn’t know much about going out anywhere ! I will love him until I die to b with him as a ghost ! ❤️🐰🐇❣️💕👽🪐🛸🚀💞🧚🏼🧚🏿♂️🧚♀️💜👻💕🧜🧜♂️🧜♀️💖💞💜🩵💀☠️bless the Gratefuldead forever !
This was back in the day when you had to/were allowed to bring your own food and drink. We came after work, but our droogs did the line sitting, and we just got had to show up with the domino’s pizza sprinkled with mushrooms, and the box of Gallo. Even in the pre-cellular dark ages, we were able to find them down front “we’ll have a yellow balloon” - yeah right ! We got to meet a dozen people with yellow balloons on the way down to where we found them. Then we snarfed the ‘shroom’za and swigged the box wine , and then the opening number. You all know the rest.
That's a great story!
'85 crazy year
God damn that Brokedown Palace speaks to me
Yeah they sound good here i started following them in 86 on the road for 9 yrs damn i miss you heads and the band anybody have a time machine for sell
Nope! Much too valuable. Can't let it go.
I know, I started in July 4th🇺🇸🔥⚡ 1986' !🌹Dylan⚡The Dead!! Foxbourgh, Mass!! 🗽🏟️🎆🎇🎊🎉 The bus came by and I got on with cowboy Neil .....😛✌️😌💪
I'm amazed @ how Goddamned TALL those speaker towers are. It can get pretty windy there. That takes some Yuge Balls.
I guess they called that the"Tower" of sound....
Yea, I was there. Tripping.
I was there! Thanks!🌹
it seems odd to me that its still light out at the end of the second set. they musta started really early. in September it can't be staying light that late in Colorado can it? just wondering. groovy show anyway. i've never been to Red Rocks but always wanted to...
its an afternoon show i guess
Roy LeMeur
I was there too.
A refrain heard in the audience was the delight of seeing Jerry wear a red shirt! The very best of “...Trouble Ahead, Jerry is in Red ...” was repeated with great mirth. 😎❤️☮️🏔
JL Waddey
Yes, it started latter in the afternoon.
Afternoon shows...Jerry was in red at Oklahoma City Zoo 2 lol. THANX Kevin Tobin! ❄🌼❄🍄❄ 💘
Brent looks like he is playing on a marshmallow 👍sounds & looks great!
Brent on a white bean bag chair!! Hee hee heeeee 😁👌🌹
That Big River solo had some interesting choices of notes.
Like this and Frost 85.
my sister lisa's b-day rip sis!
Nice Scarlet > Fire transition jam.
Jerry wanted to leave them but it cost them so much to travel that they had to keep playing to afford to go where they were needed !
There's Bobby w his high tops n leg warmers. Lol! They should've set up the stage in that natural enclave behind them so Jerry could've just leaned on the wall to scratch his back like every good bear does. The Jear Bear's flutter as smooth as butter.
Wow goood music
Of course I love all of this forever but Jerry in a red t shirt ? ❤️🐰🐇🌹😛😋😜🩵👽🪐🛸🚀☄️⚡️💥🥀never seen him in one
Saw Mickey at one of his art shows, said Red Rocks was his favorite venue.
And the rest is history......
Broke down break down. “ you guys remember the chords”
2:32:30
Give me the Low Down on the BrokeDown Breakdown!
@@saxmidiman
Just watch it. Jerrys obliviously starts playing a little bit of the tune, sounds ruff. And then the fact that the drummers and everyone are not sitting or ready. Then bobby and phill all kinda stare at Jerry till he looks up. Banter on restarting. And boom. Baxk in business.
Brent looks like he is playing inside a wedding cake.
Roflmao!!!! Beautiful comment. Cryin’😂
Saw them ther in 82.
omg!
I was at this one sitting by
None other than a GREAT
ATHLETE but more than that...a GREAT-DEAD-HEAD !!!
I KNOW YOU...CAN GUESS...YAY YOUR RIGHT
THINK OF THE TOY DOLL
THAT ALWAYS said OH-NO...MR. BILL -WALTON....( ONE OF US )
I wish I could of been there ! .?
If the camera was a few inches to the left we could have seen Brent .... otherwise so great thanks 🙏
I got some of the dust from St. Helens blow !
Dead Rocks
I probably don't need to say this, but I'm compelled. Sunshine Daydream is a part of Sugar Magnolia, so unless they're played separately, you don't need to write the former.
My first show would be on 10/29/85.......
Is that, half a mile from Tucson?
This has always been one of my favorite shows, looks like Healy was having fun ✌️
Well I Married me a Wife, She's been Trouble all my Life !! 😊
Story of MY wife...life!!!
Train doesn't start rollin' til the boiler's full...
But then, get outta the way...Baybay!!!😏😎
No cover over the stage or nothing. Wow.
Sante fe after that was great too 9 10 9 11
Horse Track , love the help slip frank there , Santa Fe Downs
Where are the Frost Amphitheater Vids!? Surely they couldn't have been so dense as to not record them!?
Jerry in red trouble ahead.
I don't remember if I was at this particular show or not. Seems like maybe I was.
I don't want to rain on anybody's parade here but I'm listening to this Fire on the Mountain and I think he forgot to play the guitar solos. Like, both of them, and the part at the end which is really cool got skipped as well. The lyrics didn't work out great either but I'm a fan and I'm rooting for these guys. I think would have been really disappointed if I was there. I'd be inclined to cut them a little slack for playing a second set in broad daylight but still, something was amiss here. If anybody still reading this, thank you, and, for comparison's sake I would point you towards the Fire on the Mountain from Saratoga Springs 1988. 1:14:05
The Fat Man Rocks !!
What time did this show start? It is entirely in daylight.
Saw the dead 5 times in the 70s I guess I was a dead head lol
why'd they play so early?
Sad that Jerry Garcia was only 42 and already look like an old man
Do u have 9 6 or 9 8 1983 video?
👋
WOW!😮😁❤️🌹🌴 What a song line up, Scarlett-fire,🌺🔥 Estimated - Eyes! 🐢👀💫⚡

Anyone know what's up with the guy who DISSAPEARS at the 2:32:08 mark????
