As a parent, I'd rather have my child write the f word in a book or song, than feel pressured to be over sexualized. This video/song is so pure actually and honest. It's literate and uses the curse very specifically and it's used well. If I was her mom I'd be hella proud.

It’s not a remake of high school musical lol. It’s a series. It’s a mockumentary style show, like the office, about them going to the high school hsm was filmed at. They’re putting on a play of hsm for their high school. And they’re essentially making fun of high school musical. So they’re aware hsm is a movie in their tv world. And all I want WAS in the series but she wrote it by herself as well.

There’s a theory around saying that the reason why it says “2021 Olivia Rodrigo, under exclusive license to Geffen Records” is because Taylor Swift might be involved in all this. This means that possibly Taylor made sure that Olivia was able to own her masters from the start. Because there’s an interview where Taylor said she was working with Labels where Artists own their work and license it to the label for a certain time. And Taylor knew of Olivia probably before she began to work on her debut project and she might have reached out to help out. IDK bcs it is weird to see those credits.

drivers license is about her ex, joshua bassett, who she acted with in high school musical. he taught her how to drive which is where the name and theme comes from. in one of his songs he said that they weren’t perfect, which is why she said “I know we weren’t perfect...” and in another one of his songs he said he would wait forever for her (bc shes 17 and he was 19) which explains why she said that he said “forever”. they ended up breaking up and he quickly moved on and got with Sabrina carpenter (the blonde girl she speaks of in the beginning) leaving her heart broken. nobody rlly knows the full story tho :/

Joshua and her were on a show together and became more outside of the show Joshua tought her how to drive and broke her heart and moved on quickly after, to Sabrina.
