I paid $75 for this banjolele, and I find it great! It stays pretty well in tune, and yeah, it has that cool banjo sound ^^ Great quality for the price!
Mine arrived today. Installed the bridge, stretched the strings, tuned it up and ... the A string is too low. No instructions, have to look for a UA-cam video on how to properly adjust the truss rod.
You can get more sound projection by getting some longer screws holding the back on and inserting small wooden beads between the body and back plate. Cheap upgrade.
Hey there! I am looking at this one as well as some other banjoleles for my next purchase... I have seen some with an arm rest, as supposedly it can be painful to press your arm against a banjolele (or some banjoleles)...what do you think? does a banjolele (and especially this one by kmise) need an armrest? Also, is this the one that can be played open back or resonator style (with back still on)? and thanks for the demo and review!
I'm trying to learn mandolin, and I thought it would be neat to have a banjolele tuned GDAE same as the mandolin. There is the Pyle banjo mandolin available in my price range, but I think I want single strings instead of paired strings. For one thing the double number of strings puts more pressure/ tension on everything, making tuning less stable. Another option would be tuning GDAE but one full octave lower than a mandolin, which I think is the "Irish" tuning for a tenor banjo... unfortunately tenor banjos are a bit out of my price range at this point. In any case I wonder if either of these GDAE tunings are possible on a cheap concert-sized banjolele?
Measure from the nut (the little bit of white plastic at the top of the strings) down to the 12th bit of wire (fret) and make a note of the distance. Then measure from the 12 fret the same distance down to sound board (head) great big round white thing and make a light with a pencil ! What you called the bit wood is placed on edge at this point and will be the correct distance for tuning and playing !
As a banjo player/enthusiast the head needs to be tightened ... Thats the only thing i notice about these instruments thats off , if you like the sound keep it like that , but it could be brighter ... A head change who be nice too , to a goat skin or fibreskin

Thanks for the review, I have been thinking of getting one.

No, I don't think it needs an armrest. It plays really similar to a traditional uke.
You really don't need an arm rest, as opposed to a regular, full size banjo. The banjolele is pretty light and it's easy and nice to play it =)

You can convert your banjolele into a mini Irish tenor banjo by replacing the ukulele strings with classical guitar strings and tuning them to GDAE.
Hi can you change the strings to steel banjo strings
Probably not, metal strings could damage the instrument. Use classical guitar strings to make it sound more like an actual banjo.
@@marvinthemaniac7698 thanks
It would help if you just put it in tune, played it, and stopped talking
Damn you don’t have to be rude 😂
It would help if you did your own review the way you thought it should be done, instead of whining.
Can you give me the size of the plastic for put the little wood please ? 🥺

You do not say whether they are nylon or steel strings but anyway thank you it's a great video and it was very well done have a good day
Sorry about that. They are nylon strings.
Nylon string, same as ukulele string, and tuned to G-C-E-A

Use a calf skin, better than goat skin, not was thick so a better tonal quality
hey! can you strum the banjolele the same as a ukelele
Yes, it plays just like a traditional uke. Just a little louder.
@@ReviewsOfCoolStuff it's louder than a ukulele because of the drum skin head.
It’s called a resonator
How in the world do I tune this?!🤯
It has the same tuning as a ukulele, easy as pie =)
