I know Bomi was probably kidding when she said she wasn't pretty but I still think it should be looked into. Kids tell the truth and try to hide it with humor earlier than we think. Children will try to gage our reactions to their self image speech to see how we react. I hope Bomi is surrounded by community of Blasian children and BIPOC children & families that she interacts with daily. Hopefully Bomi's mother has found other African, Black, & Blasian women and mothers friends to help her with supporting Bomi's Black self-love journey.
💯 valid, but I think you're right that she seems like she's kidding. Young kids like being contrary with authority figures. Learning to say "no" is important for forming their identities, self-esteem, and boundaries. Disagreeing when it's safe & low stakes is fun/funny, but it's also practice for the real no's when they matter or are uncomfortable.

The whole thing comes from adults. Adult black women want to run so far away from their phenotypically superior ethnicity, that they try to change their hair and even their melanin-rich skin in some cases.

@@willamcoffey44 Black girl here. There are very gentle and natural products for a little girl that age. From as far back as I can remember, I've always used some type of product in my hair, even with natural styles. It's possible that Rianna did not want to do too much, since this was a beginner lesson. I might use one thing on my scalp, another on my edges, and something else on my hair, especially the ends. It can get a bit interesting.
That kid has beautiful African hair. We need to be more comfortable with claiming the *African* evolution of our hair. Cause presenting it to others can either go really wrong or go really adorable cause it's texture is influential.
*More info:* I'm pulling this from memory, so do double check in case I make a mistake 🙂 Hair type mostly depends on two things: 1) _Follicle shape:_ A curved pore, shaped like a C, creates curly hair as it grows, whereas a straighter pore results in straight hair. 2) _Hair flatness:_ Hair that is flatter or more elliptically shaped will curl around more, similar to dangling ribbon stings, whereas hair that is more tube/cylinder shaped will be less wavy. Person of African descent typically have more curved pores and elliptically shaped hair, resulting in curly to coily hair, which is good for airflow and reducing heat. It's not so good at transporting oils from the scalp though, which can leave it feeling dry and brittle. Adding in water and oils takes care of that 👍
They should have classes as an elective for foreign hair in Korean beauty schools so people could learn about mixed hair, not that I'm sure if people are open to that suggestion.
I think the do that in some Japanese salons. Some stylists will learn how to style and treat a range of hair textures so they can cater to foreign workers and tourists. It actually IS smart when you think of foreign students, tourists, workers and political diplomats, etc. And even of those numbers aren’t too high, it’s not like all Asian people have exactly the same hair type. I had a friend growing up who was Korean and used hair care products meant for Black hair and went to Black stylists because her hair was curly and more coarse. It always looked healthy and amazing. So, getting these skills only makes someone a better stylist. Definitely a good thing to do if they want to master their craft
@@nashambenyisrael7689Actually if they plan to be a stylist in Itaewon or Hongdae, maybe myeongdong too, then it would be ideal. There are way more tourists now than in the past especially once the COVID situation calmed down. I don't think it should be required as an elective but definitely a choice for the schools near the center of seoul
I have never seen run away so much while doing their hair at least you didn't cry though. I usually see a lot of crying with curly hair. She seems very happy. Mixed babies are so cute to me( my opinion ) The little girl is so adorable and the Asian girls are pretty too. Its amazing cause I have mixed race kids too and their hair all came out pin straight like Asian hair . SO I had to learn how to care for this type of hair and what products to use for it. I think they did a good job
Bomi is so cute and very active. They should have chosen a calmer child so the ladies could have a better experience. She is absolutely adorable though.
How nice she got her hair parted with a finger. My grandmom used to come out with a sharp as h*ll, rat-tailed comb. I swear it felt like my head was bleeding sometimes. But it would make the best, straightest part you can get.
Totally against putting screens in front of kids too early/often, however, if it would help her settle down in order to do her hair, I really would break that vow, lol😅
Find other ways to calm them down. iPads are a very recent invention. Parents have been finding ways to keep their kids entertained without the use of electronics for as long as human civilization has existed.
😂😂 I can tell the sister was getting agitated she really wanted to get her hair done. I know, if the camera was not around that baby would not be running around. I found it also funny how the two Korean women were being really gentle with her hair, black hair is strong but then again you have to have balance and be somewhat gentle.
I personally think biracial children to me in my opinion are the most beautiful children being a biracial person myself . The little girl is adorable . I swear it make me want to have an Asian baby
