Anyways I was playing battlefield and I heard this bang, and then my GPU started running like trash. My game was stuttering really bad and immediately I knew it had something to do with the pop. If you use older tech, it's good to know how to, or know someone who can, do component level repairs. Electrolytic capacitors drying out or leaking over time is a major reason why things with circuit boards fail over time. I got a 600w Thermaltake PSU from 2009, it still works fine after all those years in my old PC, i check the insides every now and then to dust it (dont do it if you are not familiar with PSUs) and insides components are fine
So glad my mother board has "ez debug" lights that said CPU which was due to die but took ram out for it to show ram and changed it over. Got thermal pasted changed it over fixed.
I had the same thing happen with my main pc at one point. Unfortunately after a few times trying to turn it on, one time it did. When it turned one it worked fine for a bit, but then a loud POP noise occurred. After that smoke started billowing out of the PSU, I very quickly reached around, turned off the switch, and pulled the plug. Thankfully everything worked fine afterwards. That when I bought my Seasonic focus+ gold 750w. Mine wasn’t an NZXT though, it was an EVGA 550 B3.
Being a nzxt fanboy is all good for the pc parts you see but when it comes to stuff like the psu youve gotta go with a brand centred around that said parts like soundsonic for a psu
I prefer Antec and had a Coolermaster 750w power supply last me 8 years before I replaced it with an Antec 1000watt. Seasonic also makes TRULY premium power supplies.
You should also replace the cables just incase. Some psu manifacturers use different layouts for the pins but seems to work fine in this case but still, just incase
That actually happened on 02/16/24, where my VX-550 not only died, but took off the power grid as well. I didn't have a spare one, soi had to buy a new one. The new PSU I got is DeepCool PF550, which is similar to VX-550, but better quality.
Seasonic PSU's have always been my choice - If your gonna pick a good component company, pick one that ONLY specializes in the component you need - Try not to pick one that does keyboards , mice , AIO coolers , cases , RAM and power supplies

Since they keep failing you need to check the outlet for a shortage. Maybe plug into a power strip instead (so you flip the power switch and not your power supply) I hope this helps!
soooooo did you test the "broken" psu in any manner to insure it was in fact the psu or did u just assume it was psu ? i m not familiar w that psu but dose it have a replaceable fuse?
Fun fact. Most high end PSUs won't kill your PC if they die. Unless its something really catastrophic. But even then, they all have s failsafe switch that will keep your PC from being destroyed.
I have been unable to work, so I've been spending my time repairing things like dead power supplies, as well as building PCs with these and other components I get. It doesn't really pay the bills, but it keeps me from going loopy sitting on my butt all day (I have other regular income).
The same thing happened to my pc, I switched out the PSU for a new one and it worked, but the next day a different problem seemed to have occurred because it would start but then die a couple of seconds later. I thought that we might have gotten a broken PSU (which it was because it was beeping loudly) so I switched it out, but it didn't fix the problem. So I thought it must be a Windows problem, so I tried installing Windows again, but it didn't work so I now think that it must be the Motherboard and therefore I am now buying a new Pc.
Last time my PC died it was the power cord. I switched the PSU, GPU and just happened to lose the affected power cord in the process so I had to use another and it fixed it. Try the easiest and cheapest things first. I eventually built another PC with the new PSU, so it wasn't a total waste.
I remember one time I thought I was having a PSU issue causing it to not allow my computer to get even into the boot screen, it would fire up and then shut back down. I replaced it with another of the same exact PSU, a Seasonic GX-750 I believe (whatever their 750 watt 80+ Gold one is called), worked fine after so I thought that yep, it was a PSU issue. About a month later, same issue. Turns out it was my Asrock motherboard, probably something to do with power delivery on the board. Replaced it with an Asus TUF X570 pro board, has been working since last november. Also tested the old PSU with a multimeter, seemed fine on all of it's outputs, tested it with the new motherboard, worked fine. All I'am saying is that if you've had problems before it might be the motherboard if the same thing happens again. I've also heard of wall outlets and power strips causing issues.
Yeah I've had two NZXT units die randomly, one after about a year, the other after a few months; The one that died after a few months actually had 3 small explosions when it died, though I think that may have been part of it's safeguard to protect other components.
This happened to me when I was playing Overwatch with friends. No rime or reason, just a loud spark and a dead PSU. Thankfully, it didn't take any components with it.
I've had the same 1000w power supply for almost 10 years, and it's still rocking. Yet i know people who've gone through several, my brothers even caught fire one time.
the crazy part is that most tech items are really strong and u can even drop them and they might still work but most of the time they just die randomly 😅😢 i guess that 0.01% of items still passes the tests and ship out to die

plot twist: psu didn’t fail and he just turned off the pc acted like it failed acted clueless by trying to “diagnose” the issue conveniently figured out it was the psu in his second try swapped it out with the sponsored product and plugged it in (no pun intended) the process and called it a happy mistake
EVGA makes a pretty good PSU, I’ve had my 750 gold since 2017 and it’s been running like a champ
Gotta love throwing it out with all the cables, good to show that.
I got a 600w Thermaltake PSU from 2009, it still works fine after all those years in my old PC, i check the insides every now and then to dust it (dont do it if you are not familiar with PSUs) and insides components are fine
Gorgeous PC brother. I have a 850W RMe Corsair. Thing doesn’t let me down.
I know it was probably just a visual gag but just to be sure- do not throw away a psu in the normal trash.
Was poppin in a 2070 in my budget baller optiplex and I shorted the mother board. $20 buck replacement on eBay got me back up and running!
This is why i always buy an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) with my PC's, especially with the irregular power delivery our wall plugs have.
I have the 1200x shift too. Awesome unit
Side mounted plugs with a 90 degree angle would be so sick!
Fun fact this happened to me too (for a bit of context) i was playing war thunder on cristmas and then the rest of the family came so i stopped playing and when i came back my laptop did not turn on at all and luckaly i was repairing another probook at the time and i asked my moms boss if i could keep the probook and a thinkbook and he said yes they are also mine til i do some repairs with my own money or get a desktop and i am still keeping the broken one cause i am wanting to get a new frame cause the frame on my old one was bent open and the screen was broken asking if i can borrow those laptops before cristmas was the best thing i have ever chosen to do
Since they keep failing you need to check the outlet for a shortage. Maybe plug into a power strip instead (so you flip the power switch and not your power supply) I hope this helps!
Daaaaaim that pc looks sick what case is it
Wanna try it out
soooooo did you test the "broken" psu in any manner to insure it was in fact the psu or did u just assume it was psu ? i m not familiar w that psu but dose it have a replaceable fuse?
Fun fact. Most high end PSUs won't kill your PC if they die. Unless its something really catastrophic. But even then, they all have s failsafe switch that will keep your PC from being destroyed.
Love the video! But imo the rtx 3080 founders card is cool but it just doesent match very well, you should get another card if you can that is white 😊
Perfect demonstration
Do interchange cables with PSUs
What case model are you using? ,it looks awesome😎
I have been unable to work, so I've been spending my time repairing things like dead power supplies, as well as building PCs with these and other components I get. It doesn't really pay the bills, but it keeps me from going loopy sitting on my butt all day (I have other regular income).
Respect for Zach for recording his PC every second of his life so he could capture how it turned off
That sounds like a job for the "Greatest techincian thats ever lived
The same thing happened to my pc, I switched out the PSU for a new one and it worked, but the next day a different problem seemed to have occurred because it would start but then die a couple of seconds later.
I thought that we might have gotten a broken PSU (which it was because it was beeping loudly) so I switched it out, but it didn't fix the problem. So I thought it must be a Windows problem, so I tried installing Windows again, but it didn't work so I now think that it must be the Motherboard and therefore I am now buying a new Pc.
The greatest technician that's ever lived 💀
Last time my PC died it was the power cord. I switched the PSU, GPU and just happened to lose the affected power cord in the process so I had to use another and it fixed it. Try the easiest and cheapest things first. I eventually built another PC with the new PSU, so it wasn't a total waste.
Had this happen to my server recently. Took it out to the garage and fired up the compressor to blow it out.
Works perfectly again.
People should actually invest in getting a multimeter
Well I have a Corsair From 2018 its still working like a boss. Oldest part on my pc.
Same happened to me with a Seasonic S12III. Happened to me TWICE.. Third PSU is a Corsair so far no problems..
No joke had the same thing happen a few months back and it was an exhausting experience.
that's common caused by PSU as lack protection, but always prepared spare PSU for replace it as reserve
This happened to me when I was playing Overwatch with friends. No rime or reason, just a loud spark and a dead PSU. Thankfully, it didn't take any components with it.
Recommending seasonic as PSU, inside components are having better quality, Like a lot Japanese Products
I've had the same 1000w power supply for almost 10 years, and it's still rocking. Yet i know people who've gone through several, my brothers even caught fire one time.
I've always paid the slight EVGA tax on PSUs, never let me down once.
Those asiahorse brand exntender cables kill PSUs, don't buy the extenders. I lost 2 PSUs before realizing it was the extenders.
Honestly Corsair and cooler master are the goats of psus (From my experience)
the crazy part is that most tech items are really strong and u can even drop them and they might still work but most of the time they just die randomly 😅😢
i guess that 0.01% of items still passes the tests and ship out to die
Same thing happened to me. Before changing the PSU I tried to buy two new sticks of RAM and so far I had no issues
My Thermaltake Smart Series 650w from 2012 was abused until 2021. Unfortunately Thermaltake did a poor job with the series in the last years. I jumped to a new Corsair RM1000x, same psu from the video, best gold standard psu I could get for the money.
I've heard of a lot of problems with NZXT hardware, like with their motherboards or PSU's. I hear so many horror stories that I don't truly trust anything from NZXT.
