Thank you! I ended up splitting that one into two, so now there are still two more to come.

@@BrendaSmitJames I'm going through Educated for the second time. Westover has many transitions, which the first time around, sort of irked me, but now I'm investigating the technique to see if there is something to learn from it. I'm naturally interested in the story itself during the first reading of a book and lack patience for observing the how's.

@@גרשוןפרלמן I agree. I prefer to read the book for the story itself the first time around. The how's should come in the subsequent readings.

Wow, that is fantastic! Thank you for letting me know, Susan. Now I am curious, could I ask, how are my tips on memoir writing helping you with writing your thesis? (Apologies for the delay in replying, I have been on vacation)

@@BrendaSmitJames In an earlier video, you talked about ways to structure a memoir. I decided to use the stand alone method versus the novel format, creating six short memoirs, but all about my experiences with my grandfather. I liked your explanation of the differences. Also, you mentioned that all the literary devices you would use in fiction should also be used in non-fiction to add vibrancy. I also used photos as you suggested in yet another video. The one that really helped me the most was on writing voice and writing style. "What brings warmth to your heart? The essence of who you are really shows up on the page." After watching this particular video, I thought long and hard about voice and how I wanted to come across to my readers. Well, I took into account all your advice and suggestions and I am very pleased with my memoir collection. One reader said my stories reminded her so much of A Tree Grow in Brooklyn. I was deeply moved, as this book is one of my favorites of all time. Thanks for all your help. I am now done with my thesis but will continue to write more memoirs and watch your new videos.

Thank you for all your feedback, Susan. I am so happy that my videos have been valuable to you. I love that you have written a collection of short memoirs about your grandfather. Memoir is so personal and varied. What a compliment to receive from a reader of your stories, and now I have to definitely read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn!

Thank you for your question, interiority is going into your thoughts. This really only works if you are writing a memoir where you are expressing your thoughts already otherwise it can look out of place. Perhaps if you watch my video on interior telling it may help: ua-cam.com/video/pMT_9PkMjsw/v-deo.html
But essentially you are using your thoughts to link from one scene to the next and providing the thread that links them in your thoughts.
