Do you understand the concept of paying for a service. If you wanted to sit in first class you should have bought a ticket to sit in first class. It isn’t rocket science.
That is the point. They paid for a service that was not available. We do not pay to stand. Therefore, the railways should not sell standard class tickets if there are no longer any seats in those carriages. Not rocket science dear.
I recently witnessed a guy asked to sit in a seat where the passenger had his bags. The man refused to move the bag so that the guy could sit down. At the next station the guy reached over and grabbed the mans bag and put it on the platform. This then caused him to get up and retrieve his bag. When he got back both seats were occupied. He was forced to stand. Great to watch though.
If you pay for first class … then sit in first class… why do you feel you are entitled if you don’t! You could always reserve a seat in standard class… then you would be entitled to sit down! 😉
I was on an avanti train last Saturday ) 30th november 2024 ) and when we arrived at Birmingham New Street, the guard announced that standard premium AND first class as from Birmingham to london has been " declassified " to standard class because of the amount of passengers on the train , First class ticket holders was pissed off to say the least , Crazy experience
That's the private train companies (often foreign owned), who provide a lousy, overpriced service. God, they must love the British! If there are no seats and first class is empty, then why not allow people to sit there as long as they behave themselves? This country is obsessed with rules like 1940s Germany.
People get free upgrades at hotels and seats on flights that they didn't pay for. It was the public who paid for the railway network that runs the length and breadth of Britain. It was then handed to private companies to exploit for profit.
To make you stand when there are dozens of empty seats is pathetic. If the first class carriage starts to fill up then fair enough but it was empty. What would you say if it was a more elderly person?
I traveled from Tamworth to London with double the number of passengers to seats. Kids sitting on the floor for 90 mins. They treat trains like the London tube, tickets don’t sell out you are just expected to stand and travel
Cross country service never provides enough seats for passengers even if you’ve booked a seat it doesn’t guarantee that you’ve got one. They often double book and provide only 4 coaches from Edinburgh all the way to Plymouth, total inadequate service. I’ve taken it a few times standing room only from Derby to Newton Abbott and I was told by an individual from another Railway franchise that cross country employ dispatches to push people on the trains when they are full so much for health and safety
@@davidkelly8555 It’s how you identify push ..three Railway employees in uniform that were together on a packed train with me and one of them spoke out told me cross country were putting people on overcrowded trains that are packed out at a named station .. if putting people on overcrowded trains and cramming them in if it’s not pushing people on what is ! 🤔🙄
They are not all like this one day I was going on the train with my grandkids it was so full that I took them to first class and then the young man asked me for my ticket not first class but he said sit down it’s ok and then he fetched the kids a drink and some snacks what a wonderful young man
If you don’t pay for the service you can’t use it, I’m sorry I’ve had to stand from King’s Cross to Preston before now and even London to Cambridge straight after being released from having a cardiac catheter in my groin and I wasn’t supposed to stand. It is terrible there aren’t enough seats it needs to be rectified. However breaking the rules doesn’t help as most of the train would still be crowded. I’ve learned my lesson and now book my seat beforehand especially as I’m now disabled and can’t stand up that long. I do agree that first class carriages should go and be replaced by a normal carriage but it’s highly likely that they would just scrap the carriage and not replace it.

They will sell you a reserved seat but if someone else is sitting in it when you get on they don't care. No public service vehicle should allow people to be standing whilst moving. They won't put more carriages on because of the increased fuel usage costs.🇬🇧
When questioned about the dangers of overcrowded trains one company actually stated overcrowded trains were safer because if there was an accident people would not be thrown all over the place because they would be packed in together. That's how much the rail operating companies care.
@@AndySmith-qf2wd I don't know. That’s not how it works. If more seats are supplied it will not reduce the number of people standing. Passengers prefer to travel between A to B with the least waiting time so there will always be the commuters that will choose to stand rather than wait for a later train….
