Interesting fact: both ND and MI were founded by French priests. Fr. Gabriel Richard was a Congressman from Michigan who cofounded the University of Michigan. Later in 1842 Fr. Sorin founded ND.
Hoping WatchND will be posting the ND vs Michigan game 2018. I'm in the Philippines and can't get it here. I need to stay off sports sites and facebook and all so I don't hear the score. Do it for me WatchND.
Hoke was the guy who wanted to end the rivalry, not ND. Dave Brandon had ask Hoke who he was when he proposed dropping ND. "Why's Fred Flintstone asking me to drop ND?" Chicken dance my ass, lol. who's Michigan going to add without ND there? NDs going to upgrade their schedule.
+sam irwin wrong. Hoke wanted to cut ND, but Brandon said no because ND is basically the UM schedule, despite what both OSU and MSU apologists argue. so both Kelly and Swarbrick cut ND for big time OOC games that help in national recruiting, i.e Texas,Arizona, etc. rather than trying to deal with this media generated "rivalry". playing UM was killing NDs SOS. we won 37-0 and UM blew rest of the way and it killed our SOS. ND's moving in the right way, and it was obvious UM was going in the wrong direction. ND aligned with ACC yea, but if Hoke never mentioned ending the rivalry, ND wouldn't have had to step their game up. As for being pussies, who'd UM schedule in replacement of ND? ND is one of 3 teams to never have played an FCS team so I'm wondering what slack conference team UM picked up? ND plays a top 5 preseason SOS every year. they have the top gsr in college football, and last year ND played with their 3rd string QB, 3rd string RB, 3rd string TE, back up DBs and back up DL and still won 10 games, lol, if we had just Folston and Zaire, ND goes undefeated, without question.
I'm not going to do your homework for you, guy. It was all over ESPiN, the twittersphere, everywhere. Don't kid yourself though, in these recent years where ND lost... Michigan didn't beat ND, ND and specifically Tommy fucking Rees beat ND. nobody gets away with blatant obvious holds like the Michigan OL. Michigan doesn't compare to teams like ASU, Texas, OU, in terms of where they are as a team right now. They're better either in terms of fan base or as a program, they were both 1-2 year upgrades over Meatchicken. 07-09 were arguably some of the worst ND teams in history, 07 actually was statistically the worst, that was the year, Mike Hart cried after beating the piss out of an ND team that started countless 1st year players and freshman thanks to Ty Willinghams terrible recruiting and Weis' poor defensive recruiting. Michigan didn't beat those teams, ND beat ND. if you need tape I'll fwd you some there are some pretty detailed and thorough run downs of how the better team lost. In the one year where Meat actually did something, they played the lamest schedule all year, and, again, Tommy Rees beat ND, and Meat got gifted an undeserved BCS game vs. an equally undeserving BCS team in VT.
just reiterating, Meat didn't own shit, it was leftover Willingham recruits and then leftover Weis recruits. ND loses to a lameduck Michigan team, but if the skunkbears don't win out, and ND does, the loss to a lameduck scUM team looks like shit, just like Meat's helmets. That's how you weakened ND's schedule... it's no insult to ND. We've never played an FCS team LET-A-FUCKING-LONE LOST TO ONE!! Also, in the traditional sense, Meat/ND isn't a true rivalry. Generational rivalry maybe, but BC/Navy/MSU/USC/Stanford, those are our rivalries. scUM is a rivalry like Army is one of our rivalries. I mean you can call it one since you were beating the worst ND teams ever, but I guess you should stick to Little Brother, or at this point they're now the Big Brother (MSU) and Blowhio St. baking that ass! With Harbaugh now in AA, it'll be fun to see if Michigan has the balls to come to SB for a whooping. I like how that goofball tries to dress like Bo... who knows maybe he'll bring out the aviators.
thank fucking god the post was from 7 months ago for Christ sake!! and 99% of elite analysts use Twitter, so check yourself on the "bullshit sources". good for meat though for initially backing out though, they're not on an elite level. we'll just leave it at that then.
Illegal play because (from NCAA Rulebook) : RULE 9, CONDUCT OF PLAYERS Section 1, Article 4: Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul. Penalty: For fouls in the second half: Disqualification for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next game. RULE 2, DEFINITIONS Section 27, "Defenseless Player" Article 14: f. A player obviously out of the play. i. A quarterback any time after a change of possession
Super Sparrow, didn't you listen at 2:17 where announcer says "on an interception, quarterback is protected" (that is, he cannot be hit by offensive player). That explains the final score. But doesn't address the bigger issue of the blindside hit on the quarterback who obviously was not going to be involved in the runback. Absolutely a dirty play, typical of the Irish throughout their tainted sports history.
No, because Gardner DID attempt to go after the defender. That makes him fair game. Had Redfield led with his helmet, then it would've been illegal, but he pushed him off with his shoulder. Legal play. Tainted? ND is among the best and cleanest programs in college football history. I don't remember ND getting put on sanctions like Alabama, USC, Miami, etc.
That very late, vicious, illegal, blindside, helmet-to-helmet hit on the Michigan quarterback on the last play of the game (at 2:17:30) is perhaps the most unsportsmanlike action I have ever seen in football (considering that the game's outcome was not in doubt, the quarterback had no idea that he needed to protect himself, etc.) . So far as I am concerned, I would prefer that the U of M never schedule ND again.
Quarterback threw an interception, once the ball changes sides he becomes a defender and since he was moving toward the ball he can be blocked or hit like a defender.
Michigan wins with refs help and they think they're decent. how many games in the last 10 years did michigan straight up win vs. ND? Tommy Rees fucking blew, Golson comes in and wins, golson's out, and again, UM wins, with a ton of referee help. Charlie Weis' D fucking blew, Ty Willingham, God he was awful!!!
Thanks for posting this! I have been looking everywhere for a way to watch ND game replays!
If you don't find them here (like the Rice game) you can find them on NBCSports.com
Is there somewhere to find the Stanford game? I was on a trip this weekend and missed it. I'm dying to watch it, but can't find it on NBCSports.com
Michael Mannas Where did you guys go on NBCSports.com to find them? Trying to find them now, not having any luck.
They expire after a certain amount of time Kyle Remenap Probably none left on the site.
Good point. Thanks for your help.

Can’t wait for this rivalry to be back in 2018 just a month and a half away!
When Meatchicken beat us, it was a fluke, when we beat them, it was a country boy ass whoopin'
R.I.P Greg Bryant
Thanks for posting!
i could watch this game over and over and over they played like champions
Mayock is the best there is, and he loves ND
I bet they wish they kept that chicken dance for the locker room lol.

Sorry fella - you just spoiled the whole game/post by putting the score in the description !

Hoke wanted to cut ND look it up. after that 37-0 win Michigan shouldn't be on our schedule.

Go Irish ☘️
Notre Dame had a legendary defense those 2 years but come on this was Devin Gardner a bum imagine them doing this against Chad Henne’s receivers...
Oh remembered those years when ND didnt't have good QBs as well.
So this is about the year 2014 vs the team Michigan? Lol
Illegal play because (from NCAA Rulebook) :
RULE 9, CONDUCT OF PLAYERS
Section 1, Article 4:
Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player
No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul.

RULE 2, DEFINITIONS
Section 27, "Defenseless Player" Article 14:
f. A player obviously out of the play.
i. A quarterback any time after a change of possession
Golson could be in the heisman watch this year
37-0
Gratuitous? He pushed him down.
0 points lmao

SuperSparrow45 You're confusing NFL with NCAA, in the NCAA the QB is protected on an INT.
DaTwistedOne1 Again, not when he engages in the play. He becomes live if he goes after the defender.
So bitter.

K Massey 14:05 Michigan's dirty too, its just a part of the game..
Wrong, see below
Wrong. It was legal. He lead with his body, not his helmet. Nothing dirty about it. Bad call, ND wins 37-0. Deal with it.
37-0
ND wins once every 10 years and they think they own Michigan.
Mich leads the series 24-17-1. yeah ND only beats Michigan once every 10 year. Smh
Michigan wins with refs help and they think they're decent. how many games in the last 10 years did michigan straight up win vs. ND? Tommy B how’s that working out for you now? Lmao
@@danieldvorak8715 LOL, salt in the wound again.
37-0
