Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately.
During the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates to rise. Rent costs soared too.
Simultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) 395 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED!!! In 2023, averaging 2,465 per day across Canada.
Most western countries have been hit hard with MASS immigration demands. This demand has been hard on everyone, not just migrators.
The majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To most Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation has never existed before.
Hospitals hit with many wanting free healthcare, greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes.
Now westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're getting greedy too. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.).
Not all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new private (non-public) colleges are really being investigated now (including looking for strong oversea ties).
Canadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $ to live in Canada, but it turns out they borrowed it temporarily. Canadian food banks and other charity services have been recklessly advertised on UA-cam (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes (registered in your name) are now never replaced (unlike b4). Due to 2 or 3 students falsely using one pass.
Then this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada. Plus the Canadian government recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians).
Canadians are so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA).
Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is very happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).
PS We are aware that some wonderful students are going through hell (which hurts our hearts). But bottom-line, Canada decides what needs to be done in Canada. Do you see Canadians protesting in other countries (that is not their own) making demands? No. Do Canadians see people from other countries protesting in Canada, making demands? Yes. How is that fair?

So true. I agree with every statement said. No county is perfect there is always need for improvement and if these whites can't run the country we will suggest as immigrants to stop unsustainable immigration and
Invest in Canada rather than in outer country wars . If you want to help Ukraine give them our oil reserves that we have in mass amounts and generate jobs with it the only solution for Canada is that we demand the Canadian govt improvement in Canada ignoring stupid issues like LGBTQ shit

Well written and explained my friend. Canada needs to take care of their own first, recover a little bit and once things settle a lot more, then they can take in a few more immigrants and "students". But control things a lot more than they used to. I say this as an Indian who loves Canada, has never been, but has dreams of visiting someday as a tourist and see the wonders.

    • @ramboram03
      @ramboram03 2 місяці тому

@@countroshculla Canada is a shit show now, I grew up there and left for Florida and its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better here. Trudeau mass imported way too many Indians and in particular rural Punjabi men of military age roaming like hyenas every where, playing their music loud, sexually harrassing girls, drag racing, no respect for the law, lacking civic and hygiene sense. There are Indians in Florida but they don't act anything like the ones in Canada and keep a very low profile. The issue is when you mass import military age men from ANY third world country, they do not feel the need to adapt, the essentially transport their culture here and its having a very detrimental effect. Another problem these people bring their politics to Canada, which Canadians don't really give a shit about ie the Khalistanis , who are using Canada as a base basically, but I feel will ultimately want to create an enclave in Canada because there are sooo many of them .

Hello Friend - Mass immigration is not a good thing for Canada. It's destroying the culture and quality of life. Our 2 sons have already left the country for the US and Europe and don't plan to return. We'll likely follow. It's depressing as hell. I don't mind Indians living in Canada, but the numbers are overwhelming. I value my culture and it's being erased. I do not want to live in an Indian community. This said, I cannot stress enough how this is not an Indian-hating statement. I have respect for Indians, but ... I'm not Indian. I'm of European ancestry and I value my background. There are just way too many Indians looking to get the heck out of India.

Canada as. a country is shit. I moved to this country 2.5 years back from US. Many of my friends moved to Canada from US between 2015 and 2018 and all of them came back to US. Some with Canadian citizenship and some without it as they cannot tolerate it for 3 years. All of them warned me to think carefully but I ended up moving here.
After living here for 2.5 years, I am so glad that I chose US for my master's. The quality of education in Canada is pathetic. I work with graduates from University of Toronto and Waterloo, which are considered top engineering colleges in Canada but even the quality of their graduates come nowhere near top 20 universities in US. I am just counting my days here for citizenship which is 8 months away. I would just file for citizenship and leave this country. Many of my friends in US asked me about this option, and I tell them it is better to live your whole life on H-1B rather than living in Canada as Canadian citizen. The only value of Canadian passport is with it, you do not need H-1B visa stamps on passport. You can just enter with approval notice.
