I have a ‘04 v8 SR5 and have been contemplating putting an electrical exhaust cutout for about 7 months now before watching this video. This definitely confirms my decision.
Just put this on my 07 v8 a few weeks back because of this video, same exact setup as y'all, lt headers, y pipe, and the same Gibson Catback. It sounds insane, love driving around town and disturbing the peace.
I have a super super clean 2006 v6 SportEdition and lately I have really been debating on selling my v6 and purchasing a v8 the only thing I do not like about them is they don’t have the 4x4 option it’s AWD only, I just feel like here in the next couple of years these v8 4Runners are going to be worth some $ $ $ $
I accidently did this to my v8 4runner when I thought I could do a muffler delete in a couple hours after work but the bends leading to and after the muffler didn't allow me to just replace the muffler with a straight tube. Put a 45 degree bend pointed down right where I cut before the muffler and drove around like that for a couple weeks. Sounded crazy lol.
So does this cut-out piece replace the piping from the y-pipe flange right to the muffler flange? Do all flanges line up for seamless “bolt-on” install or does it not completely reach flange to flange? Jw considering you said easy physical install other than electrical. Might have to try this! TIA!
Hi Zachary thanks for the sub! You make 2 cuts on the straight section of pipe between the Y-pipe flange and the muffler flange. We used a sawzall. Remove a small section from that straight run. When you have the cutout, you can just hold it up to your exhaust and see what needs to be removed. Then, the cutout fits in between the 2 cuts and slides over the existing piping. I recommend buying a caliper measuring device and just double-checking your existing exhaust diameter before ordering the one from summit tho. It is very easy!
I have a Lexus with the same V8. I have a cut out on mine, and adds personality to the suv. My started throwing an 02 code, and I may have to get doug throley headers soon. I always wondered what it would sound like with headers and a cut out, and this video came out at the perfect time.
Now that you had this for a while. Would you still consider doing it? I've been looking for more examples online, but your video seems to be the only one
I have the same 4runner with DT headers. I'm an outlier here, but I honestly prefer the non bypassed sound over bypassed... to me, the bypassed sounds too obnoxious, where as with the non bypassed, that low rumble growl compliments very well with the Gibson. I guess I've been tainted with too many vehicles in my town that have no mufflers trying to sound cool, when in fact they just sound like pieces of junk. Regardless 👍for your channel.
I have the same setup, and as long as the rear window is up you cant smell anything with all the other windows down when driving. Keep in mind this setup is catless.
Hi Louie! We dyno'd it with basically the same components, before and after. It actually picked up a decent amount of torque. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/PhDP4yk4Eto/v-deo.html

Yep now I really want to do this. I was looking at other exhaust setups but the ability to switch back and forth is key for me
same
Your 4runner is insane, I’m impressed so much by your skills man
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
I did this a while ago, stock headers. It sounds and feels great, i definitely will be combining it with the headers because i want more noise
I have the same V8 4runner. I seriously need to do this to it. Love that roar! Good job fellas.
Thanks Brian! It is so fun - it sounds pretty similar to a newer mustang with a cutout - just doesn't move quite as fast :)
$209? 🤯🤯🤯 I thought these things went upwards of 700 my wallet is gonna be yelling at me soon haha
Ha ha right? What's $200 between friends?
Man that V8 4 Runner with the Bypass combind with headers and exhaust sounds nasty as hell brother.

@@EnigmaEngineering This makes complete sense and was an extremely helpful response. Thanks!!!
GOOD GRIEF! I have DT LTs and their catless midpipes on my 07 V8, stock muffler though. I may have to do this. unbelievable sound
I have the same setup.... also might give it a try LOL

Did you install the exhaust cut out next to you're Aftermarket exhaust and Y-Pipe?
Now that you had this for a while. Would you still consider doing it?

I didn't catch the other exhaust system mods done here. Headers? Muffler?
Do you have aftermarket headers installed in this video? Or is it Just the exhaust modification?
Hi. Yes, I have doug thorley long tubes and a Y pipe. I made a video showing that install: ua-cam.com/video/EGhN95tw6U0/v-deo.html
I'm trying to figure out the wiring for this on my GX460. What would I need to change in the electrical diagram to accommodate one switch button?
How would I explain what you did here to a shop that does exhaust modifications? Would it basically be like the title for your video?

Wish you had AFRs displayed
Beautiful
Hey how much a FBO V8 4runner will make?
What is your mpg?
Hows the MPG now that you’ve been driving it for a while?
My dad won’t let me do any mods with it until he decides to give me the deed… I’m still buying this.
Do you have any issues with fumes in the car with these open?
I have the same setup, and as long as the rear window is up you cant smell anything with all the other windows down when driving. Keep in mind this setup is catless.
You got to throw at least some 33s on there!!
I’m guessing this won’t work on the 5Th gen
I mean technically yes, but it’s definitely not going to sound like that..
Dino it!!

Just found an 07 V8 w/ 153K for 14K in my town and now I’m jonesing
Doesn't make me feel so bad about paying 14.5k for my 08 v8 with 112.5k miles🙌
haha yes!!
have you came across any issues with the engine after this swap?
Lol. I need dt lts for mine.
Do it
I'd rather clean frame and protect from rust than adding stupid worthless bypass
