Community economics is the bread and butter of creating wealth among the entire populace. Not necessarily riches, just wealth. This is why people typically pay less for housing in housing coops, get more financial services for less with credit unions, and entire communities working as an economic unit can create wealth from small inputs, such as "Black Wall Street" in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When workers shop local, those business owners spend their money locally, and a self reinforcing cycle continues. Much of America's wealth is being drained into the Hamptons by companies like Walmart, Amazon, Dollar General, etc. This isn't to say that the money can't flow there eventually, it's just that it is not getting time to circulate before ending up there, like an area that receives plenty of rainfall but does not capture it and let it soak in the soil, so the plants remain starved of water despite getting what should be adequate rainfall.

What they dont tell you is they don’t pay taxes and that’s a big part of staying in business
Here in Lancaster we have central market which is open 3:days a week and it has multiple Amish stands and every one of them has top notch products. Love buying what they sell.

It also helps to have a whole community of like minded people who help each other. There are a lot of hard working people out there that start businesses and fail. You will be much more successful if you have business connections, let alone a whole community that is willing to help you from top to bottom. Meaning they will supply you with everything you need to start the business and will become a consumer as well. A good example of this is the Jewish community.
Such a simple concept yet for some reason is treated as some kind of mystery

It's more than just "hard work" and "valuing people." The Amish do not abuse credit. They believe in saving until they have enough cash to move forward. They also know the WISDOM of helping each other in their "community" - especially those who are down on their luck.
Yet let's not be so quick to make them human idols. Very few Amish will fight for their country and carry a rifle and ammo for that very purpose, nor serve as policemen. They let the "advanced types" of society do that type of messy stuff.
