A "Spaza Shop" refers to a small, informal grocery store, primarily found in South African townships, that sells basic necessities like food and drinks, often operating out of a home and considered a key part of the local economy; the term "spaza" originates from a Zulu word meaning "to obtain something quickly" or "hidden," reflecting their origins during Apartheid when Black South Africans were restricted from owning formal businesses in certain areas.

I was with him until he started blabbing that South Africans will never bla bla bla….nothing is exclusive and above board. What one has done others can do even better. It is bothering when people don’t show respect and humility towards the locals of South Africa….to unite as Africans we must demonstrate respect for one another…

"Black South Africans were successful in Spaza shop way before the foreigners", yes, you were successful, but only until foreigners started coming to SA. The fact that when foreigners started coming to SA they took the spaza shop business over from you it explains and means that you cannot compete with foreigners. If the field is leveled fairly and equaly for everybody irrespective of the nationality of a person South Africa cannot compete

Righteous response my Sister Lady. ❤ However, your very own assessment of seeing each other as competitors, is very familiar to the Diaspora in the USA. That was a topic of notable Leaders such as Malcolm X. They found the attitude was introduced and reinforced in our community by the institution of Slavery. And since we had less than nothing coming out of Slavery, we could not afford the Luxury of that mindset ( Think Black Wallstreet in Tulsa OK).
