- A complete playthrough of Sega's 1989 Sega Genesis beat 'em up game, Golden Axe.
Played through with Tyris Flare. I have no idea why games feel the need to stick a woman in a bathing suit to fight stuff. At least they were non-discriminatory: Ax Battler is also wearing nothing more than underwear and shoes - he's even less covered than Tyris! Ahahaha. And the Gillus the dwarf is wearing a relatively modest tunic... if only you could throw him :)

Awesome game - it was an excellent showing for the brand new Genesis, it's got a sense of humor, and two of its three main characters are virtually naked. What else could you want?
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning Mine was Gillius too! I noticed his axe slash covered a large area and easily connected on the enemy's hit box!
The enemy names are a hoot too. Longmoan and Sgt Hop and Sgt Malt? So memorable!
Great port of the arcade game. It's a shame they skipped over Alex's death, and just had it in text.
Wow, definitely! Discovered this one in the arcade hall back in the day. Stunning graphics Not an easy one.. Sega Genesis did marvelous job keeping that momentum going. Top notch! 👍🏻👍🏻

The game's based on Conan The Barbarian, the character designs are allusions to Conan and Red Sonja. They also use screams from some Conan media in the arcade games, it's pretty neat
I remember playing this on the 6 pack, and I never get to the other stages until Game Over!

I've always thought that Death-Adder was such a rather strange name for a Video Game villain. Tho it pales in comparison to some of the Baddies in the MGS games.........
Adder was pretty fitting, since it's a type of snake. Bringer was less subtle in that regard.

I just read on the internet that this port has two more levels compared to the Arcade version. Plus, I think I prefer the music in this version, and its colors too. It has more charm. I prefer this port over the Arcade game I think.

Me and my elementary school sons played this together back in the day. I was the school principal. They're now in their 30s. Great memories for me!

I remember getting this for Christmas. This was an unbelievable port.
It was definitely one of the best parts of 6-Pak!
Well, I just beat all 3 Golden Axe games on my Switch with the Sega collection. I have beaten Beast Rider, so plan on taking on that when I get a new or used ps3 lol. If the rumors are true and the ps5 plays ps3 games, than I may just get that when it comes out. Tyris Flare was always my favorite warrior of the 3. She needs her bathing suit armor, other wise it would slow her down lol. Still I think the first Golden Axe is the best of the 3. With 2 being the 2nd best. 3 I think Beast Rider was better. Yes Beast Rider is better than 3 lol.
Great memories of good times playing golden axe at the arcade and then getting it for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive console to play at home man it was so awesome
Lucky being near an arcade that had it! I only ever saw Shinobi I think.
Tyris felt like the game's Hard Mode as she had the shortest attack power & range, but made up with having the Strongest Magic when fully leveled-up!!
I always had a better & easier run with Gilius while having the weakest magic, He arguably made up heavily with having the best attack power & range!!
Here's Hoping SEGA will someday revive this Awesome franchise one more time similarly how they've recently (as of this writing) revived their Streets of Rage franchise!!
Ax and Tyris had the same reach. Golden Axe II gave Ax longer reach.

My favorite Genesis game that predates Sonic the Hedgehog. I like how the home version had two extra levels that made even Death Adder am underling.
Imagine if those 2 extra Levels had been in the Arcade Version... how many Dollars worth of Quarters would Death Bringer have personally butchered...?

No, the Amiga also had a good port.
To clear things up, Tyris is an Amazon, which explains the bikini, and Ax Battler is a Barbarian, which is why he is basically He-Man with black hair, blue undies and boots, and no chest plate.
Ahaha of course they are! It's the perfect justification for fighting almost nude when just about every enemy in the game wears armour, right? ;)
NintendoComplete BTW, any plans to do the arcade version? I would love to see that, especially if you played as Gillius (who in that version, wield the Golden Axe).

NintendoComplete There are some minor differences, like he beginning actually has Alex die and the ending is different.
+Spike Riley I'll definitely give it a go here someone soon. You know, it's funny you mention He-man. In that same vein, I saw on wikipedia that Conan was actually the inspiration for that design :) No Four Non-Blondes memes, but still, fairly close!

The way 'true' Death Adder just wrecks you effortlessly with a cheap unavoidable screen-wipe magic spell every time he knocks you down makes me think of Shao Kahn from Motal Kombat just pointing at and making fun of you,"YOU SUCK!" And with unkillable skeletons? What a cheap prick! Then again dastardly villains don't play fair...

I wish it was easier to catch enemies in a chain of blows, it really makes things so much easier, but often you don't have much of a chance for that.
