  • Indiana University Maurer School of Law sponsored the Jessup 2023 Discussion with Problem Authors. Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from roughly 700 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school.
One of the authors of the 2023 Jessup problem, The Case Concerning the Clarent Belt, was Prof. Asaf Lubin (Associate Professor of Law at IU Maurer). Prof. Lubin co-authored the problem with Adv. Shannon Kisch (Legal Advisor, Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection). Prof. Gabrielle Goodwin, Director of Graduate Legal Studies, offered opening remarks. The event was moderated by Steven Schneebaum, the Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Law Student Association which administers the competition. The event was held on 15 April 2023 in Washington D.C.
