Considering this engine is bore and stroked out I'm curious how much hp this car would make if u maxed out the NA platform. Full exhaust, 3in Long tubes, ported upper and lower intake manifold, E85, Cams and oil pump gears. I bet this car would make over 400whp NA pretty easily
It's not bored. The VQ achieves 3.8 litre displacement only through the shorter pistons - it's also why you can hear piston slap when you start the car from cold.
It’s disappointing that the “epic” engine is severely detuned (due to emission restrictions) for the road spec cars, compared to the competition spec 380RS-C track car which produces 450hp from the same engine, except for a different race spec inlet manifold. Given the specs, it’s even harder to justify paying almost double the cost of a much later model 370Z Nismo, which produces the same hp & is lighter in weight.
Main difference is this that you’re paying for a fully forged engine. That would set you back about 30-40k aud to get one made up, transported, ecu and installation. Current 370z nismo market you’re looking at 2017 with 50xxxkm for 60-65k so you’re spending the same amount with more risk. I managed to get a 370z nismo before the went up in price. Personally 370z nismo would be much better car to drive on our roads as it’s less aggressive but at the track the 380rs will dominate. The 370z nismo is about 100kgs heavier and about 5-10kws slower and about 20n less torque

A Nismo 370z isn't lighter. And yes it also makes 350hp but it doesn't have the response or the chassis tuning of a Nismo 350z. All Nismo 350z's are stich welded from the Nismo factory and come with additional bracing. With the 370z, Nissan went the lazy route and just threw on a tune and H pipe exhaust on the base 370z and added a body kit and suspension and wheels and called it a Nismo.
If I had a choice , for the same money, I'd take a GTR over this ,and keep my 350z with 50hp less. 350hp isn't shit and I'd just be bored again in a week. I like the screen inside though
Waste of money unless you're a collector and keep it stock. Nissan knows that by sending a car through NISMO it ups the value, but is it better than buying a 370Z and dropping $30k+ into it? Probably not.
This is the Z equivalent of a 400R or a Z-tune. So yes all that money for that is worth it and the owner actually sends it and tracks it instead of keeping it in the garage. Mad props to him.

Other then The engine the chassis is exactly like any other Z but the drive train makes this car very special just dont nuke it with too much boost :)
