The hanging guard with a bat | medieval German sword fighting tradition "Hengetort" | Recon Sparring

The hanging block is done with a baseball bat similar to the "Hengen" (hanging point) from the medieval German tradition (transitional stance) executed left and right. This universal defensive move will mainly defend a combatant against attacks coming from above (between 22:30-10:30/01:30) and allow you to make quick strikes. We also use it as an active guard, unlike the old tradition. Great for infighting.
