I have a suggestion for you. Wrap the mare's tail before breeding. The reason for this is to prevent the stud from being cut by any of the mare's tail hair. This may sound crazy but should the stud be injured, he may not want to breed again.
The part that really impressed me was when you gave a hug and said he was a good boy and he wagged his tail. Do you think that helps him be more gentle?
@@belogical3961 I’m not giving him a hug, just praising him for the behavior that I asked him for. Horses don’t wag their tail out of happiness or glee like a dog, they work their tail to swat at flies and other pesky bugs. Riggs is gentle due to his excellent disposition and consistent training and handling.
@@ethanklivans403 The gate wasn’t very happy about the situation. That being said, I’ve had horses try to jump these gates and just lay on them, and they don’t fail. They’ve been great, strong gates.
@@MaryJaneChandler-w5v Yes, she does. Mares have an approximately 340 day gestation. To foal next spring, she needed to be exposed this spring, to hopefully avoid a year gap where she isn’t raising a foal. It’s not uncommon for a broodmare to be bred with a foal at side.
I'd speculated that keeping the uterus occupied rather than leaving gap years would be the healthier option for projected career broodmares, glad to see someone looking out for her and having her naturally covered during her foal heat to make sure she stays happy n pregnant!

BRO WAS AGGRESSIVE WITH IT! GOD DAMN!! 😭
@@I_HEART_EVEREST Hey! Job’s gotta be done!
What a nice stallion. Kept looking to you (the handler) for reassurance. Sweetheart of a horse.
@@hoofhearted3035 Thank you! I have really enjoyed my time with him. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes as a ranch horse and a sire.
He wasn't sure what position to use. Spooning, hhm naw, too much dirt on the ground.. let's try the old fashioned way..
Actually a pretty gentle fellow isn't he, compared to some!
This was only the second opportunity he ever had to breed a mare. If he stays just like this to handle, I will be plumb tickled!
Thank you for letting nature do it the right way!!
Of course. Great experience for this young stud with such a gentle, experienced broodmare.
GOD DAMN BRO FUCKING REALLY WENT AT IT JEZSUS

Your stallion and my sandy coat colored mare, would make a beautiful foal.

No needto tie up the mare they can breed freely
With only one handler this way is the safest for all involved.
