I think these foamy glider are designed for fun. I had built more than 100 gliders I guess. Some of my outdoor gliders flies bad, some are normal but can't go for competitions, some are too good that it lost in thermals... While some of my indoor gliders, there's no thermal assistances so I had to built it as light as possible (for examples, my 25" wingspan glider weigh only 8.5 grams), choosing perfect balsa wood, airfoils to make the sink rate as low as possible to achieve the longest flight also the launch method and the transition from dart-like to glide to not waste the altitude as much as possible... I ever seen someone's glider launch at high angle then it can't transition to glide and just dived down to ground then crashed so hard that it can't fly anymore...
