I am 50 and just had my second disc hernia operation (l5 s1 area). The first one was 20 years ago. It's hard to tell what is going on if you still have pain, get an MRI. Safest probably calf raises and seated calf raises. For quads probably leg extensions, for glutes split squats, and for hamstrings lying hamstring curls. These will create the least Intrabdominal pressure and don't require much bracing. Least safe include deadlifts and squats - obviously. Leg presses and seated hamstring curls also create significant amounts of pressure and should be avoided.

I almost got into obese category as per BMI and I could do 25 muscle ups(not pull ups).
And to go from that to can't lift more than 5 kg for couple of months honestly made me cry.
And male tears are heavy ones.
I took 6 month off completely(maybe even overdid my rest just to be sure)and slovely started doing some crap workouts(knee raises, planks, 10 kg lifts, 5 pushups sets) and in a month I started doing pullups again.
Now I can do 12 pullups and 40 pushups which is far cry from my former strength but much better than vast majority of people, I feel that I could maybe do 1 or two muscle ups but I dare not.
Stilll I have lean 85 kg on that same 177cm frame which is much above average but just imagine 10 kg of meat, that's a lot when seen on a table and then imagine it on your lats, chest, arms, shoulders and the like.
I could maybe bring that up to 90 kg lean in a few months but now I got new interests like meditation, spirituality, energy work, psychology and building up my character.
In a way hernia broke my ego and gave me a lot of time off(was a construction worker which I couldn't do a long time after hernia) so I could focus on underdeveloped parts of my body and character(learned female psychology and psychology in general and had more fun with them than ever).
Grew my D 2 inches in lenght and 1 in girth, had a lot of time on my hands lol and learned ejaculation control.
It's not all bad.
@@dragasinbrankovic I'm happy about the way you molded yourself without getting drowned in sorrow ,
I wish nobody would ever get these hernias. They break a man so much
Your words are definitely a cheer up for me , All the best and
Thanks man
@@dragasinbrankovicyou are way too careful, I have seen powerlifters going for PRs after hernia surgery. You just have to build back up slowly and smartly. Anyway, how did you grow it 2 inches?
would using a hand grip strengthener be safe to use a couple of weeks after surgery ?
I have been using it 1 week after surgery, as long as you don’t squeeze ur stomach hard you’re fine.
when were you able to resume lifting after surgery ? @@JafarMohsen
@@BRIANDER100 im still only 3 weeks post surgery. I feel significantly better today. I went for a follow up and doc told me within one week i can get back to cardio (jogging, cycling, shadow boxing, little bit of core training etc). I will keep you updated with the journey. How is yours?
i'm at 6 weeks. i saw my my doctor at week 4 and he said i'm doing ok and i could resume working out at week 5. im doing upper bodyweight isometrics the majority of the time and am doing a few light dumbell (10 -15 lbs) exercises. the area around my incision point is still numb and still a little soreness
Hi can i bulk after hernia sugery?????
Tips for lifting from a strain pec? Thanks 🙏🏼
Currently recovering from the same thing. I'm no expert but I've just kept everything really light, listening to my body and stopping when it feels like too much. Best of luck!
Joseph Rosenbaum how long did ur pec get healed?
Justins the typa guy to know.
Anyone has experience with umbilical mesh surgery? Im currently almost 3 weeks out and it would be great if I could have advise from someone who has been through it as well.
how did it go?
@@FrancoM- good bro im now 3 months post surgery. First month i did 0 activity, second month i started shadow boxing and push ups while wearing compression belt. 1.5 months in, i added lifting light weights (isolation movements, no compound movements) also added cycling, 25-30km/h and added planks too. I progressively increased my planks and now i can do 5 min. I stopped wearing the belt by end of second month and never weared it during planks. I started doing weighted sit ups by this time as well 2-5kg max. By end of 3rd month, i added swimming. It has been a week now and i feel great. Will get back to boxing training next week so that’s exciting. I used to wrestle before the surgery but i will give myself one more month until get back to that. Will keep u posted.
@@JafarMohsen I'm glad everything you've been doing has gone well!. You have done very well in starting physical activity progressively.
I am very sure that everything you have mentioned will help someone else who has the same doubts after an umbilical surgey
@@JafarMohsen hey i have umbilical hernia too can we talk?
So I'm 17 and just had my 2nd hernia what should I do?
Surgery again bro
@@moinkhan6927 I already had it I have two hernia surgeries
Lift light and max reps, are days of being Superman are over 😭
I've got hernia surgery 15 months ago, is it okay for me to go to gym again?
Yes
have you gone back?
Hatius hernia ??
Best thing about a hernia - NO LEGS 😁
No more sports nor lifting. 2nd surgery with me. I've retired at 24 not worth chasing a ball vs your health.
No more sports = cardiovascular illness later one in life
Are you still going to the gym and building muscle mass?
what are considered the safest and un safest lower body exercises after getting cleared to lift ?
Safest probably calf raises and seated calf raises. For quads probably leg extensions, for glutes split squats, and for hamstrings lying hamstring curls. These will create the least Intrabdominal pressure and don't require much bracing.
Least safe include deadlifts and squats - obviously. Leg presses and seated hamstring curls also create significant amounts of pressure and should be avoided.
what about upper body ?@@overlord3481
@@overlord3481thanks for some advice, I had an umbilical hernia surgery repaired with 15 cm of mesh, and want to exercise again.
