    Great video. Thanks
    It reminds me of my youth in Texas
    We took off our T shirts to throw at the lizards. Because of their claws, they would get caught. Just be careful when you remove them so as not to harm them
    The best thing you can do is create a habitat in your own yard to encourage more .

    That's awesome! I'd say you're a future herpetologist, for sure. I live near Lake Elsinore in CA and we get a lot of blue-bellied lizards here. After seeing your video I'm thinking maybe the real name is a Western Fence lizard. Or maybe a side Blotched lizard. Your interest in them is admirable. They always captured my heart too. The lizards here around my house used to come over to eat bees that I was feeding. They did pretty well on that. I was worried they'd get stung in their neck so I went to town and bought a tub of mealworms. Oh wow! That was a big hit with them. Not so much the male but the female loved it as long as I held the worms out with my fingers. She wouldn't eat them if I set them down. This is a short clip of her eating; ua-cam.com/video/_0Ta8SCtCH8/v-deo.html I discovered their sexes because they had sex right in front of me, after a big meal of worms. And now there's a Junior coming around too. I now raise my own mealworms and all the birds and reptiles love them. I feed a couple tarantulas out in my yard. They all come and go on their own. They know where to come for food.
    Back in the 1970's I lived in Palm Springs where there's a huge variety of snakes and lizards. We had the huge desert iguanas that would run on their hind legs. They could almost outrun my 4 X 4 Blazer. I wanted to show one to my baby son so we borrowed a pool net and started catching them.
    Keep up the awesome work, young man. Work hard at it and you'll become a great scientist...

    Hello! Try to be more careful when the lizards are in the nets. And if the WILD lizards aren’t eating please let them go. And try not to keep wild lizards because lizards out of captivity live longer and happier. But it’s ok to have one or two wild lizard as long as their healthy!
    I’m not trying to act like a know it all, I just wanna help

      Hello! No lizards were hurt in the making of this video. I already let the lizards go if they aren’t eating. The lizards that were caught in this video were released after being filmed.

    • @PlanetOReptiles
      @PlanetOReptiles  3 роки тому

      Good question. These lizards are not venomous or poisonous. So the worst thing they can do to you is break the skin, but that is very rare.

      Make sure to wash bites tho, wild animals can have bacteria and parasites that you don't want in your bloodstream :)

    Hi, I was wondering if you or some of your subscribers might have a female western fence lizard available. We have a male that decided to adopt us back in October 2020. He was about 8 weeks old when we found him in the kitchen. We tried to let him go, but he came back. So we made him a lizard mansion and he is quite content. He has a roomy 40g terrarium with heat and uv lighting and tons of things to climb on. He’s happy and healthy, however I’d like to get him a companion. I’d rather not try to catch an adult that’s used to being wild and free, but rather have one that’s younger and been happy in captivity like ours. Let me know if you or someone you know might have a friend for our Ozzie, he’s about 6-7 months old.

      Awesome! That setup sounds perfect. I personally don't have a female western fence lizard available because I normally release the ones I catch within a couple days, but I will contact you if I see one available!

      Try not to keep the babies tho, it's a lot harder to get them to eat and drink. Try ones with a body close to the size of your pinkie finger maybe? They might be able to eat the insects that are usually available at pet stores.
