Thanks for making this! I'm going to be a camp counselor for the 1st time this summer, and I've never been to this camp before. I was a camper at another camp for a couple years as a middle schooler, but that one had a very different vibe. I'm so excited but so so nervous.
How was the experience!? I’m trying to do it this summer. The camp that wants me is a girls scout one in Maine and they have tent bunks that fit 4 to a tarp like tent. I’m so curious of the experience
My favorite summer activity is either going to beaches or being able to have the time reading an entire book series with nothing but headaches to stop you. (It was a good summer :) )

Trust me, I was the head of the Arts and Crafts and the Drama department, and only swam in the lake a total of 5 times one summer... I think I was the one who never got a sunburn, but we all played off of our strengths (since not a lot of people wanted to do the indoor activities) and it was so fun!!

oh gosh!!! as a person who went to summer camp as a camper for about ten years, I can say that the first day is usually a little nerve-wracking, but after that it's super fun! TheAnimationEnd was looking for me in the chat and I WAS TOUCHED!!!! I really do have fans (': WHY MUST SCHOOL SEPERATE ME FROM THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE! WHY!!!! Anywho, I finished watching the video and I'm happy to hear that you're a camp councilor again. Also, this video gave me nostalgia when I went to Camp Harmony. Now I don't think I'd make a great councillor, even with this AMAZING tutorial, but I thank you for the recommendations like wearing boots. But I've never really gotten bitten by bugs tho... Also, its SUPER ironic that I WAS THE ONE THAT LOST MY VOICE and not my councilors. Now I'm not sure that Summer Camp in Minnesota is the somewhat similar to the ones in California. But I had a great time nonetheless. I actually have my councilors' phone numbers.... I should call them..... When I went to Summer camp, that's where i learned how to swim GOOD. Now I'm not Olympic Game material, but I'm not bad either. I can swim to survive. I also remember this fun activity when me along with a group of 3 more people. We played Pac-Man, but the catch was that we were ALL Pac-Man. Let me explain: So there were 4 people (me included) so each of us was a different direction. We would all control Pac-Man by high fiving each other. So if we were to turn Pac-Man left, one of us would High Five the person who was the left "button". If we were to make Pac-Man go up, we'd high five the person who was the up button. And so on and so forth. Another really cool event was that we would make boats with foam noodles. (Those long looking things you find in stores). We would use anything that floated, and use it to see which team's boat could last the longest by holding the team. Granted my team lost (i think.... I honestly forgot) but still, we all had a great time. We also had a yoga session..... which now that you say it, i guess its a perfect time to recharge from all the fun we've had. I also went hiking all the way to the Top of the Malibu mountains, and by golly, what a hike. Let me tell ya, the trip was worth it because we got to see a GIANT Menorah! Now I THINK this was a Jewish camp because they had a giant metal Star of David in the Cafeteria..... Kinda ironic considering Jews' history with camps..... I'm sorry that was a bad joke.... (Now that I think about it, the way we woke up in camp was by the staff in a Golf Kart with a Megaphone telling us to wake up.....) SPEAKING of cafeterias, one thing that kinda annoyed me was the fact that we had to sing to get lunch, breakfast, etc. I ain't the biggest fan of Singing so that was kinda of a no no for me. Whoever sung the loudest got to eat first. But the wait was worth it tho. THE TOMATO SOUP WAS BY FAR MY FAVORITE DISH on the camp. (IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD!!!). During the 2nd to last day, the camp would compete like an Olympic games style. I'm taking about Tug of War, Racing, Soccer, and.... A dance off. Now i was surprised that people saw me as a good dancer during camp. And i don't even dance that much, but I was still overwhelmingly proud of myself with the Compliments everyone gave me. The final day was sad, but i didn't cry. I was sad to leave, sure.... But I was still happy that i met all these people. Then WINTER CAMP CAME ALONG. Now I'd share more, but i think I'll save it for another day. So feel free to share your story comemters! (:

Nube Gamer There is only sand in playgrounds and stuff lol. It’s still a city. Sand isn’t everywhere, unless you’re on a walking trail or something. But honestly it’s not that annoying, unless it’s 130 degrees (F) and the sand is scorching hot.

Great question! I just worked at the summer camp I went to as a kid, but I recommend this website to find camps you'd like to work for and then apply via their website! www.acacamps.org/ (not sponsored lol) For most overnight camps you can also look for places out of state and just live there for the summer if you can't find many near you. Hope this helps!
Any tips for very mellow camp counselors who literally cannot raise their voice enough for a whole group to hear me? I know I can socialize perfectly fine with the kids and make sure they’re having fun, but I have no idea how to give directions or stuff like that clearly and loudly.
working to speak through your diaphragm really helps, and counting down from ten instead of trying to yell helps a lot too! I will say though, I was also in your same shoes -- working at camp definitely taught me how to have a louder voice, it just takes a bit of practice. I hope this helps, you're gonna do great! ✨
