It makes me sick. And angry. How have we come to this? Why didn't the judges stop this? Or someone in the audience. It amazes me every time. They cannot claim to love their horses if they treat them like this. This sport is no longer worthy to be called a sport in my opinion. Dressage is in desperate need of a reform. We need to go back to the classical roots, and certain people need to stop riding, be sued, SOMETHING. This is so wrong. Never stop your work, blowing that whistle. Eventually something will happen.

"Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them." -Assata Shakur
These horses, as stunning and gifted as they are, are just a means to an end for a certain "class" of people who hold them captive. They could not care less about the living, thinking creature that provides them their entertainment, and I guarantee they treat the people they employ much the same way. Enough is enough. We see how the peaceful methods we have been told to utilize have been rendered ineffective when it comes to fighting the few people who have managed to hoard wealth and power under this system. These horses need and deserve their own Luigi Mangione.

"The Olympic Caliber Canadian Canter Transition" 😆👌
Spot on with all of this.
If I may, the Passage is a "Lofty" trot. Where is the "loftiness?" There is little to no "loftiness" in the Passage in competitions nowadays. I want some "LOFTINESS!!!"

That horse should NEVER have been cleared by ANY VET for competition!! The Steward, seeing this in the warm-up area, should have called the Vet over, and they should have pulled this horse from the competition. But did they do that?? No!!! Why?? Because it's a prestigious show at Wellington!!! I would have cause such a stink!! LOL 🤣 I guess that's why I'm not on any lists as a former judge!! LOL 🤣 Your friend, the FORMER FEI JUDGE, a Retired Paramedic and now Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

Well I hope the judges docked her good for this obvious "no harmony" ride with her horse. Have the Canadians forgotten what true Dressage is?

I am not surprised. I see young riders all the time riding with horses either in hyperflexion or in rolkur. Their focus seems to be completely on head position. It’s completely wrong. How did our team become so pathetic? Some of these riders have been on the team. I don’t remember them
    Riding like this years ago.

Are we looking at the kerfuffle in half-pass? Miscommunications happen, especially in an excitable environment. I thought she handled it tactfully and was able to have a productive ride. Am I missing something?

Back in the 1970s there was a well known so-called secret way to get a challenged horse past the vet check: a few minutes in the stall with a horse shoe nail, hammer and the sound matching hoof. Just like catching a hot nail, if done with good aim, it causes lameness in that hoof and doesn't usually cause a permanent injury. If the cheater's nail was too shallow, though, the horse started to move sound within a few minutes to a few hours. which would make the original lameness in the other leg more obvious again.
Tangential note: horses that were known to need sedation for the farrier were subject to speculation as to their general soundness and the habits of their trainers/riders/owners.

Very obviously lame there. Maybe we need extra judges positioned correctly looking solely for lameness because as it is this is completely unsatisfactory.

I don't see any evidence of a lame horse. I do see a very, hot horse reacting to it's environment! Now let us all request that the poster of this video provide us with a video of her Grand prix test for critique?!

Oh, my. Yes, the horse is sore. I'm sorry its pain looks like "a very hot horse reacting to its environment" to you. Can you not see the shortened stride in the walk? The head bobbing? The obvious pain in the piaffe? Seriously, can you really not see the horse isn't sound?

So many envious people without any lives of their own using their alleged "love for animals" as an excuse to vent their resentment. This is a hot horse and the rider managed him calmly and tactfully. No sign whatsoever of lameness.

  • @willowthicketfarm806

Hind right. If this "expert" rider had any class she would have scratched in the warm-up bare min. I check in on dressage every once in a while and yep - still sux. Meaning the people are not the kind of people I would ever be interested in speaking to or riding with or even watching ride. I keep hoping for better but it doesn't look like the judge stopped the test. So yep still sux.

    • @DressageHub

Yes but based on how many lame horses compete, you can see them on our UA-cam, it's safe to say the vets are part of the establishment

@@DressageHub Or dressage people are still deliberately cheating the way they did back in the 1970s with a horse shoe nail, hammer and a few minutes in the stall when no one was looking. With good aim, it was a version of a hot nail into the matching sound hoof and the horse then appeared to move sound. Just like the occasional legitimately accidental hot nail (horse has thin hoof walls, jerks hoof at the wrong instant, etc), most of those cheater's hot nails usually didn't cause any further injuries.
The problem, though, was that if the cheater's nail didn't go deep enough, the lameness would start to wear off pretty quickly--within a few moments to an hour or two. Then the original lameness would start to reappear.
Back then, a routine part of checking out a horse to buy was to tuck the horse's hooves between your knees and carry a small hammer to tap the hooves. If the horse started to get uneasy or to pitch a fit, ask the owner how the horse usually stood for the farrier or ask for the farrier's name. If it turned out that the horse needed sedation for routine farrier visits, that was a red flag for a horse that might have soundness issues.
I learned about these things because after the first horse my parents gave me, I made money for the subsequent horses by buying either OTTBs and turning them into green hunter show prospects or buying horses that had been showing but had behavioural issues. I didn't cheat but I had to learn about cheating in order to avoid throwing my money away on a hopeless horse.
