Even though this video is old now this info may help in the future, the phone which was talking has a feature called VoiceOver enabled which allows blind people to use an iPhone. A side feature to this is screen curtain allowing the user to black out the screen. Simply pressing the power button three times in quick succession will disable VoiceOver whilst the phone is in setup how the one displayed here was. Hope this helps

to turn off the voice over, tap the screen three times. it is just in the curtain mode. you then need to open settings, open accessibility and then can turn it off. Voice over is an accessibility for the blind and visually impaired.
The talking iphone's screen isn't broken! It has Voiceover option on it. Happened to me once: when i was 7 i was playing with my dad's old phone and turned on Voiceover. The screen went black and i thought i broke it. Luckily i stumbled upon it recently and i could lightly see the screen so i managed to turn Voiceover off and it went back to normal:)
