    You know I don't need an answer from you .. But let's stir the pot for a second . Why doesn't the seat back on the drivers side get twice as hot since all the current is no longer shared with the seat bottom element? Let's see who's thinking today ?

      25 minutes...and no answers. Come on guys, who's brain is still up this evening?

      Diodes?

    • @NewLevelAuto
      @NewLevelAuto 6 років тому +2

      SKO NYC a diode is like a gateway right ? So if that gate was closed it would never allow any current . Keep thinking, I know you'll get it 💪

      Thanks Keith now I can't sleep lmao.. I think it's the heated seat control module. If it's not then I'm jumping off the roof. Lmaooo.

    Great idea comparing current from left to right. I'm a Kia technician and by can tell you I have replaced a few bottom cushion heater elements.

      Hey Nicholas, I was a Kia tech as well. We got pretty good at seat cover removal right? That OCS Mat recall on the old Spectra's right?

      Hey Mike. Too funny, I did a spectra OCS mat yesterday. Yeah, I got pretty good at trim work working for Kia. I just bought a flir camera a couple months ago and I was hoping to use it on some seat heaters but I haven't seen one since. However, it has been great for checking voltage drops and current draws. How recently were you working for kia?

    Nice video Mike & they are pretty easy to change in a warm environment. If it's cold and the leather is tight I just turn on the seat warmer and it makes it easier to clip it in. Changing upholstery is so much easier now then when we had hog rings.

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  6 років тому

      Hey Bob! Thanks! Many of the Kia seats are still put together with hog rings....I got good at them. There was a recall on the OCS mat on older Spectra's and Rio's I believe that we had to change out every single one.....If I remember right book time was 0.6 to do it :(

    • @haywardsautomotive6156
      @haywardsautomotive6156 6 років тому +1

      Never did any Kia's but I can still do hog rings . They need to get with the times b/c the plastic retainers are pretty easy. I don't get to do a lot of seat warmers down here when I tell them the price of the seat warmer they go buy a seat cover for the short winter however I do get some around Christmas that want to surprise their wives. We need seat chillers here in HOTLANTA.

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  6 років тому

      It's amazing how many of these I had to replace under warranty. I do like the plastic retainers too. Cooled or "ventilated" seats are nice here in the summer too. If I had to chose between heated seats, cooled seats, and a heated steering wheel I'd have to chose the steering wheel. I absolutely love mine...and hate the cold :)

      I have a 2006 Silverado SS with leather interior heated seats the works. Best part about heated seats is in the cold I start the truck and turn on the heated seats before I get in so the leather is able to stretch easier and lasts longer without cracking. Leather conditioner only goes so far. I have a leather steering wheel cover & it never transmits the cold but a heated wheel would be nice but the cover protects the steering wheel from wear (still can see the leather grain in the wheel. I hate the cold which is why I live in GA vs NY now but the big reason is I hate rust...something about owning an 11 year old vehicle & it still looks new with no rust and working on cars is great and hardly ever have to use the torch or penetrating fluid except when I work on auction cars from the North.

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  6 років тому

      Bob, these are all reasons I would move somewhere warmer too! GA doesn't sound so bad right now. 1°F on my drive in this morning...BRRR!

    Great Job Mike and kinda surprised of such an early failure. 5 year 60,000 there bumper to bumper warranty or powertrain. I know most domestics it's powertrain only and it's 3 year 36 for bumper to bumper didnt know if Kia was different as most we see are way out of warranty. Keep up the great work

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  6 років тому

      Hey Mike, yeh I was surprised too. It was my wife's car. Owned it since I completed the PDI on it when it had 4 miles :) anyway...shocking it went bad because we are both "nice" to the seats...oh well. Warrenty issue now. 5-60k bumper to bumper for original owner. 10/100k for orig. If sold, then the 2nd owner gets 5/60k for powertrain unless it's certified.

    Hi Mike. Will most heated seat LED switches light up if voltage is present but in fact go out if no current is flowing through circuit?

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  6 років тому

      John, that's a great question. I wouldn't say there is a way to describe "most" many will flash, or turn on for a second, then turn off if there is a fault. But don't think that the seats current is flowing through the switch. Most of the time it is just an input to the computer.

      That’s the point 😂
      You use a multimeter to test each section to determine which section has failed
      aka fix that sections issue fixes it.
