The song is called Daechwita by Agust D/Suga- Agust D is Suga spelled backward plus DT for Daegu Town (the town Suga is from). Daechwita refers to the traditional marching music played at the time of a King's arrival.
The site is an ancient palace turned museum in Seoul. They did use CGI to eliminate the surrounding modern buildings and replace them with mountains, but the actual site is real.
FUN FACT: the gun Yoongi (Agust D) used is called ARMY (like the BTS fandom name). The gun used was a 1860 Colt ARMY revolver that was commonly used in the American Civil War as a side arm. ⚠️DAECHWITA REFERENCES:⚠️ First of all, this song is from Yoongi’s (SUGA) second solo album, “D2”, under the name Agust D :) - *The time.* The MV is supposed to take place in the period of Joseon, which I will explain in the points below. - *The name itself.* The songs’s title is Daechwita, which in English literally means _great blowing and hitting_ *Daechwita* is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments performed while marching. It was played when King or high officials visit, "or" to welcome important guest or oversea guests. - From what i’ve read, apparently kings back then couldn’t have scars on their body, which symbolises how powerful the king Yoongi was. I hope it makes sense. - The setting of the mv is a REAL place… it is shot at Silla Millennium Park in Gyeongju where V/Taehyung also filmed for his kdrama “Hwarang” - The King and the convict reference. I also think this isn’t such a big thing, but since the MV is set in a historical era, I think it’s still relevant. Yoongi played as both, and we could see that one of his lyrics is _”off with the head”_ which might be a reference that back then the king would condemn a convict, and would chop his head off if the person committed a crime. The convict *Yoongi* is *AGUST D 2*, and the king is *AGUST D 1*. At the end when the convict shoots the king i think symbolizes how Yoongi overcame his struggles said in Agust D 1/ the new king is Agust D 2. And I think the scar represents his struggles. Even though the scar is visible, it is healed. I'm a little confused. You have actually watched "Daechwita" before and wondered about the stage. It was a performance by all 7 members on this big stage with the screens in front showing fans interacting. Because this is the song "Daechwita" not "Agust D" - Agust D being Suga's stagename for his solowork on his mixtapes (no idea under what name his solo album will drop). The MV also had the guest-appearence of JK and Jin - they were the ones fighting in the back after Suga pushed Jin who in turn hit JK.
If you want to get smarter, watch the explanation video. Suga really put a lot of thought into this. He is a lyrical genius. There's also a behind the scenes video of him making this.
Great reaction! Highly recommend checking out the DKDKTV explanation video to get a better grasp on the cultural context of the lyrics so you can have a better appreciation of the lyrics. Viewers love a combination reaction of the music video and explanation video. I highly recommend this for their songs Ugh, Ddaeng, and Baepsae (featuring the rap line) and the Bulletproof Vibes explanation video with Spring Day 💜
