- The 7-0, #1 Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN to face the 3-3 Tennessee Volunteers. This was Alabama's 12th consecutive win over the Vols - eclipsing 1971-1981 as the longest winning streak in the history of "the Third Saturday in October." This also marked former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones' return to Knoxville as an Alabama assistant.
Wow, kudos to the Tennessee fans that stayed in the stadium to watch this. I would have been gone!

It's so nice every year to watch this. In the mid 90's Stallings had stopped recruiting and UT was recruiting like a machine with help from the NCAA. UT is gonna win one day but to dominate them year after year like we do after going through the Fulmer stuff is SOOOOO SATISFYING. UT shouldn't even be on the same field. Unfortunately, this was the last game Tua played at pretty much 100 percent and it got worse as the season went on.
@ TheKnowitall Well how is this one for you ? I think Conference realignment of schedules is coming up. Tennessee needs to petition Commisison & drop that annual Alabama game. They play too hard a schedule and UT Bama game being the Southland's greatestrivalry is as dated as facemaskless helmets. UT Alum is just ridiculous with who they schedule every year even on the non Conference schedule. SEC should move Auburn to East, Mizzou to West and let UT have Mizzou or Arkansas as permanent opponent. Even in the unlikelihood that UT should rise to the heights of the Fulmer era , this still ought to be done. The Burn & Bama Iron bowl with the Burn being the in East. As a Vol fan I cry " Mercy ! "
@@dagnabbit6187 Auburn made some noises last season or late season before about wanting to go to the SEC-East, it's gonna take a Power-5 team making a very public request to move E or W. Honestly, going East _would have been_ Auburn's best move a couple of years ago, 'cos they'd have fed like a shark on the honestly powerless SEC-E block. Now with Georgia there, it'd be out of the frying pan into the fire. And Tennessee...? I think they need to just MTFU and stay put.
@@thedungeondelver Well from what i read playing Alabama on an annual basis is still not really carved in stone . If i am not mistaken i do think current agreements for all SEC teams is contracted out until 2025. Also I heard talk of UT and Georgia game being moved to latter part of season. I am an old man & have witnessed & still never really got over all this Conference shakeup, expansion ,80s style hostile takeove stuff . I do remember in the late 80s talk of SEC absorbing the then existing Southwestern Conference and creating a super Conference Change is always inevitable.

Yes and I hope he shows up for LSU in two weeks and plays better after injuries he played consistently worse as the season progressed last year and I hope he improves and gets better this time instead of worse LSU I hate em but they got a good team no doubt but I think the change in the poll may work in bama as favor no one thinks they can hang in the LSU game and LSU just gonna whoop them I do not believe this at all and RTR.

Probably my favorite Alabama team that did not win the National Championship. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Tua sling that ball around. The most accurate quarterback I have ever watched at Bama. I just wished they could’ve finished the job….

Until TN can beat Florida on a consistent basis, they'll never be a serious contender for the National Championship. If they can't beat Florida, they have no chance against Alabama.
Tennessee has great, passionate fans that I've always regarded as very optimistic. But they need to be thinking about contending for the SEC East championship before they talk national championship. It's a process, as we learned at Alabama. I do think they're improving under Pruitt.

Why hadn't Tennessee made the other QB the starter they might have had a chance if he played the hole game
Tennessee's big problem was allowing 58 points. The Vols managed 59 points against ETSU last year, but never even scored half that many in any other game. They never had a chance in this game with anyone on their 2018 roster. The talent disparity was enormous.
Even with the other guy in for a large portion of the game he only managed to score 14 points not sure what makes you think having him in for a few extra minutes would have made much of a difference.
