    Put painters tape on valve cover to prevent scratching while removing it

    I guess you aren’t the only good one. Lol!!! You really ask for it. Work Beamers on their time, then come home and do your own on your time.
    WHAT A GUY!!!!! Stay safe and get some rest. You’ve earned it👍🏾

    Love shop time with Shawn! You have a very good tone and explain things very clearly. I'm surprised either BMW or BRP haven't tried to recruit you as an Instructor! Almost Hump Day! See you in the morning, maybe. Peace and love.

    Did you see FortNine’s video on oil analysis? Royal Enfield was top of the list for cleanest oil.

  • @my.motorrad
    @my.motorrad 3 роки тому +1

    I usually let my bike sit overnight before doing the valves as it supposed to be done cold. So let's say on a Friday I'll come home on the bike, put it on the center stand and dump the oil and filter, do the valves and everything else the next day. Those adjusters look a lot like the ones on my hexhead. As far as hacks, I don't do flat rate, it's my bike, so there's fast, good and cheap. I work cheap and I am not fast, so I will concentrate on good. BTW, Fortnine did a video on oil analysis on new bikes and RE came out as the cleanest oil for new engines BMW was #2, in which it was his assertion as to whom made the best engine. As far as clearances the hexhead is .15mm and .30mm. That RE engine has tight specs.

    Great video as always! Don’t ride 2 wheelers but always enjoy the videos. As a Spyder rider I wonder if you’d ever do more in the way of tech videos on them? Specifically belt adjustment, something the dealers around here just can’t seem to get right😢

    So are you saying the hose with the T piece is how you check throttle body balance? If not a demo showing how to balance throttle bodies would be fantastic as it's not talked about in the manual.

    • @TheSmoaksVlogs
      @TheSmoaksVlogs  3 роки тому +1

      I'll use the ports that the T hose is plugged into to measure the vacuum of each throttle body to synchronize them. The adjustments are made via the air bleed screws on each throttle body. The idle speed is controlled by the air bleeds as well, but they must be kept in balance while doing so.
      I'll do my best to record the procedure..!
      Thanks Paul!!

    how did you get that gasket to stay in place??? is it easier than having it glued into the top piece?

    • @TheSmoaksVlogs
      @TheSmoaksVlogs  3 роки тому

      Due to the tight fit, I figured I'd knock the gasket off if I attached it to the cover, so I very carefully aligned the the gasket and cover together on the head... Was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Take your time and be sure it's aligned before bolting the cover down, or the gasket could be damaged.
      Thanks Christopher!!

    How about a video on the Himalayan. Does rotating the engine clockwise give a false reading on the T mark after the intake comes up so you need to go 360 to get TDC. New to Himalayan so rotating clockwise is not the norm for me.

Im still trying to remember what you were riding back then. It was way before you were training your wife on her Harley. You had a Can-Am , and a Sporty. I think thats right.and your DM, but youve had him for quite a while.

    Just sayin', seems like a lot of work for not following the manufacturer's recommendations. (Where have I heard that before?) A word of caution for non- professional mechanic motorcycle owner, for sure.
