Great video. Thank you. Maybe try these too: We take colorful large towel clips for the pool and beach loungers. A door stop comes in handy sometimes. Dollar store suction cup hooks for shower loofah. What's app instead of walky talkies. If we have travel room, we take clothes that we don't want or use any more. People in these countries are very appreciative. Dinner pants that the legs zip off to second for warm day activities. We take candy to hand out on Halloween cruises and resorts. Straws. And share them. We take glow sticks and hand them out in the evening time. Most everyone, adults and children love them. We take 6"x9" Canada flags and clamp them to our loungers at the pool and beach. Binoculars are nice some times. A small travel umbrella. Gum. Cell phone portable power bank/charger for when you are not in the room. Feel free to leave your kids at home. Bring your dog instead.
I always bring an extension cord for my curling iron. I like to sit down and do my hair in front of the mirror sometimes on the floor. I also bring a nite light. It’s helpful if you use the bathroom late at night. I also bring my iPad. A garbage bag for dirty laundry and a beach bag. I never leave home with packing a sick bag with meds in case someone gets sick 🤢 and it does happen. I also bring a can of air freshener for the room. Sometimes the room are musty.
I've had crock blisters as well and I've resorted to wear sneaker socks in them to avoid the blisters. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Another tip is to carry a small towel in your beach bag for when you rinse off your feet and slip into your dry shoes when leaving the beach. We always pack a fly swatter to avoid unwelcome guests.
Great video as always! We stayed at Hotel Riu Palace for a week and you are so right about bringing your own first aid kit and bug spray. It costs us nearly $100 just for band aids, off-bug spray, and toiletries at the resort pharmacy!
Great video! I'd also suggest bringing DampRid because I've found a lot of the hotel rooms can get humid. Especially the ones where the AC shuts off automatically when the room is empty.
Wow! Thank you! Great to know! I am getting anxious about planning a trip to Punta Cana! I've NOT been anywhere in 22 years and got my passport early this year! I'm traveling solo, so a bit hesitant.
I live in Oklahoma where we see normal highs of 110 degrees. I have a pool and have a great full body speedo tan by the end of the summer. I go with a super great tan for a Norwegian prince anyway. I agree with lots of sunscreen as it’s the UV that gets you and not the heat. Lots of sunscreen guys!!
If you find yourself watching TV on the resort, then you went to the wrong resort. Also, if you are that bored, you can always step off the resort and enjoy the actual country because the resorts are no indication of what the culture is actually like. TV is the last thing I would do on the resort. 😂
I got a really bad burn on my lips past year in Mexico. It looked like I had plastic surgery and they puffed up real bad. So painful! I will pack chapstick with spf on my trip in March to Punta Cana. Leasson Learned.
I also use lanolin - it is my go to. It is very thick and protective. It is my year round protector in all seasons. It is found in the health food store or the baby department. I avoid the flavored chap sticks - they are too tasty!
I've been going to Iberostar since 2005. Going back in September. Can't wait. Other suggestions are to take tea candles/flashlight and a door alarm and I take my own pillow cases.
Oh my. Probably very good advice but I just remember traveling across southern France, Northern Italy, Cypress, Greece for 6 months with nothing but a back pack with truly essential items. But, that was in the 70s and now we need two pairs of flip flops and reusable straws for 7 days. But I do love your modern advice. Sigh
You may want to include a small extension cord (3-6 additional power plugs) I've read some rooms only have 3 power outlets and more are needed to charge all your electronics
So glad to have found you! We’ll be going to Punta Cana in a few weeks. Our first vacay in 3 years and I don’t want to forget anything that we might need. Have you ever stayed at the Majestic Elegance?
