I'm pretty sure being a cowgirl is a lot safer.
I think Thor has struck gold with this format, simple training vlog, frequent uploads it’s great. Shows people it’s not all PRs, wicked grinders and nosebleeds but simple and meticulous training day in and day out.
I wasn’t gonna go to the gym today after having an off day, feeling generally down but after watching the vid felt instantly better about myself and headed to the gym and had a great session. Thank you Thor 💪

Hey Thor's editor. Rep is short for repetition. It's the number of times you do a lift in each round. The round is called a set. The captions said "1st rep", "2nd rep", etc - seemed like each was its own set so should have been "1st set", "2nd set", etc.

its so annoying he doesnt know anything about lifting, also constantly adding up the weights of the dumbells which is confusing

I'm genetically half Nordic. Everyone on my father's side of the family is/was built like a tank. Not nearly as much as Hafþór, but certainly bigger than average. Even my dad's mom was tall with large hands, thick bones, crazy natural strength. I'm happy I have some of those genes as well.

@Hafthor: Since bench is what you're most behind on lifts, I'm surprised you're not trying to employ powerlifting techniques like improving your leg drive, etc. It would certainly get you closer to your goal.

They are very expensive and stressful. Can also sometimes cause serious mental trauma. Seem to be out of stock most times as well.

Can someone tell me, are all Powerlifters allowed to arch their back in the benchpress? Will Thor be doing it?
Yes they are. IPF has some new rules l I miring how much but Thor won’t be competing in IPF.
I doubt Thor will arch much more than we see in these videos though, because it requires a lot of mobility and technical practice. Very difficult for such a big man, and someone who hasn’t been training bench seriously for that long. Probably not worth it.
Yes, arching is allowed in all comp/federations and Thor is arching in this video. Arching is just pulling your shoulders back and driving up the bench with your legs and back. Most pro powerlifters are 5'5-5'8, Thor is 6'9 so that should explain the difference in rom
During the training prep with Kirill Sarichev back in late 2018, I can remember Hafthor said that he had tried it in the past and he simply does not have flexibility to creat an arch. But maybe now, since he has a great PL specific prep, he might incorporate some kind of an arch. I think it can benefit Hafthor massively if he can reduce his massive ROM by an inch or an inch an a half.
