It’s “price”. The narrator has paid the price of loss of sight for ignoring what’s going on around him. Like a “Twilight Zone” kinda story set to music.
I first heard this song when I was 16 years old. I felt like Jackson had written it for me. The Vietnam war was winding down with protests in the street. My parents were looking down on the protesters as a bunch of no good hippies that have nothing better to do, and so were most of my friends. All that I could think of were my older than me, but still young neighbors that were drafted and never to come home. It seemed like to me that I was the only one paying attention. Hearing this song helped me realize that I was not alone in my thoughts.
Sad thing is that he is fast burning through all the best music of the last couple of generations and will eventually be listening to the b sides. Sigh
So nice to hear music meant to touch the soul and heart while entertaining too. NO shouting, easy rhymes, be---tch this MF that, look how much money I've got.

I had lunch with JB two years ago. Such a nice man, he does so many good things that people don’t know about. He has adopted several people in his family such as my son’s friend (JB’s nephew/adopted son). His mother died so Jackson adopted him so he could take care of him, he has adopted other family members as well (to help them). He lives completely off the grid near where I live. JB tours all year (except during pandemics) and most of his concerts are benefits to help native Americans as well as other people that are held down. His latest music is very deep. JB got arrested many years ago protesting a nuke plant near here.
He should tour during pandemics too cuz thats when we need music and healing the most. Screw the risks.. If you dont wanna take any gambles in life hide in your house all day...
Then jump into some Warren Zevon. They were close friends. “Poor Poor Pitiful Me” is about Jackson. Start with the obvious. “Werewolves Of London” and my fav, “Lawyers Guns and Money”.
“Here come those tears again,” “load out/stay,” and of course “the pretender” are three of my favorites of Jackson Browne but all of his songs are awesome.

Jackson Browne is one of the legends of the modern R & R scene. A pioneer who wrote more hits for others than he had himself. One thing for sure, the world will never see another time like the late 60's/early 70's LA music scene. It basically birthed the music you play on your channel.

The original is so short (a minute and a half or so...?), he would have a treat hearing both. Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs "Stay", followed by Jackson Browne "The Load-Out/Stay".
Yeah, his "Stay" really has to be listened to along with "The Load Out" it's just the coda to that song. Some radio stations in my area used to play "Stay" by itself. It always left me wondering where the rest of the song was.
I was in high school when this song came out. Great song...I specifically remember hearing it during a make out session I was enjoying with a cheerleader from a rival school....ya, I scored on both fields....great days....
Jackson was a huge part of the early Eagles sound. Giving Take it Easy, as an unfinished song, to Glen Frey as an example. The Eagles debut single and the rest is history.

My wife just doesn't get why I love watching reaction videos. How can I describe hearing an old favorite song from my youth with different ears, seeing its meaning through someone else's eyes, like those old discussions with friends over the lyrics and their meaning? I've always loved this song. The lyrics, melody, rythym and Browne's voice are a perfect example of one of the greatest songs during the 70's. It truly was an era of great talent.

Hello 🌺 Thanks for your love and support, for liking and commenting on my page and I want you to know I have all my fans in heart and that includes you. Jacksonbrowne98@gmail.com
One of the great song writers of our time. I like everything. The year I heard my first Jackson Browne song was the same year I wore a groove into my big 45 of "Rappers Delight" When he was inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF by Bruce Springsteen in 2004. Bruce said this about Jackson Browne's song writing "what draws women to Jackson was they finally heard a guy who knew as much about love as they did, and what drew men to Jackson was that when they listened to Jackson they realized they knew more about love than they thought they did. He's a poet. That what good song writing is right? it transcends time and place, race and creed and damn don't we all need some transcending now.
A song for all times, then, now, and the future. I am proud, sad, mad, tearful, hopeful that we humans can create such deeply felt emotion in just three words, "Doctor my Eyes".
The funniest story is how the Eagles lived up stairs and said all you heard for two weeks was the piano opening over and over and over. They wanted to murder Jackson!! Then when they finally heard the final cut they were like, ok that's cool, lol.
Jamel, his In the Shape of a Heart will bring a tear to your eye, especially when you learn some stuff that's behind it, the Pretender too. A great songwriter, one of the few writers that can write love songs, political songs and socially conscious songs all with equal excellence and his voice is iconic(like James Taylor). Always has great musicians playing with him.
I would sing running on empty when my old Camaro was on E! Thanks to Zedge DOCTOR MY EYES is my doctor's ringtone Does anyone know grew up in HIGHLAND PARK in Los Angeles I was always told Jackson Browne's grandmother lived there? Love & Happiness to you all
The Pretender and The Load Out/Stay two of many amazing songs. He also wrote Take It Easy with the help of Glenn Frey of The Eagles who made it a huge hit!
I been to that place Jamel, when my son died suddenly at 34 years old. I can't even cry anymore its so horrible. Love you brother, you make my day many times.
I love when young people listen to the music I grew up with in the late 60's/70's. I hate to sound like an old lady (56 isn't that old, is it?) - but one of my favorites I'd like you to listen to is Earth, Wind & Fire's "September". Talk about feel good song. I think it came in 1978. It's always on my playlist and just makes me happy.
You the man! My favorite reactor, because of your ability to connect the music to the lyrics and then our current crazy times. These Days, is an incredible Jackson Browne song that I think you might appreciate.
"Ready or Not" , "Rosie" and " These Days" on "These Days" my favorite version is one he does with Gregg Allman, who also had a hit with it. The song is from the "Gregg Allman All My Friends " special.
Jackson is so awesome on the piano and he always has the best musicians with him. If you love the beat of this song, listen to Rock Me On The Water which is one of my favorite examples of his piano skills.
More Jackson Browne. His overall best song is Running on Empty. His first song ever written (at 16 yrs old) These Days is incredible. And his best ballad is Jamaica Say You Will.
Revisiting the rabbit hole the early Saturday am. Love Jackson Browne! My crusin high (high😂) school days!. This one would be #2. My fav would be Stay. Droppin the mic as they say!
Another couple great Jackson brown songs are “running on empty” and my favorite “the load out” a tribute to all the roadies and people that make the show great. Thanks for all the great times you’ve made me smile and laugh . Peace
Jackson Browne most personal song for me is “ Late For The Sky “. A haunting and beautiful song that he wrote after his first wife’s death. Eats at the heart .

It’s “price”. The narrator has paid the price of loss of sight for ignoring what’s going on around him. Like a “Twilight Zone” kinda story set to music.

You left out so many more. And Rosmary the backup vocalist on so many of his songs like running on empty
@@RYANDEOROCK He covered this song recently, too! ua-cam.com/video/PQqJJYfg-6E/v-deo.html
I've always loved this song. The lyrics, melody, rythym and Browne's voice are a perfect example of one of the greatest songs during the 70's. It truly was an era of great talent.
I love this song! Jackson is a musical genius. You have got to hear more of his songs! Running On Empty! The Pretender! Rock Me On The Water! Do It Again! So many more!
Won't you soothe my fevered brow....oh yes!
Oh, yeah...Rock Me on the Water!!
The great Leland Sklar on bass...legendary musician with an absolutely insane catalog of work.
Hey Jamel, thanks for doing this classic song. It's hard to believe Jackson was barely 21 when he wrote this song.❤

Love Jackson! Running on Empty is one of my favs.
A song for all times, then, now, and the future. I am proud, sad, mad, tearful, hopeful that we humans can create such deeply felt emotion in just three words, "Doctor my Eyes".
Jackson Browne is right up there with Bob Seger as one of the best "storytellers" in rock and roll...in my personal opinion.
Sometimes you just sit back and are overwhelmed by awe of a master poet and musician. This song is perfection.
'Rock Me on the Water' is one of my favorite Jackson Browne songs. Do that next
"RUNNING ON EMPTY" should be next.
"Somebody's Baby"
"The Pretender"
"The Load Out/Stay"
"Boulevard"
The Load Out/Stay for sure!!!! One of my favorites!
One more vote for The Pretender
Im a drummer and I play all these songs at least once a month so much fun to play too.
"Cocaine"
"I'm Alive"
"All Good Things"
Jamel, for more Jackson Browne you should check out "Running on Empty" and "Load Out -> Stay". Also I'd suggest Head East "Never Been any Reason"
Flat as a Pancake 🥞🍻🍻
Definitely Load Out/Stay. This live version is great. ua-cam.com/video/scsJZ67ssDY/v-deo.html
Jackson is a GENIUS. His music always entertains ... And makes you think. Nobody else like him.
Great reaction. I love Jackson Browne. To me, his music gives me comfort that someone else has felt the struggle in life.
The funniest story is how the Eagles lived up stairs and said all you heard for two weeks was the piano opening over and over and over. They wanted to murder Jackson!! Then when they finally heard the final cut they were like, ok that's cool, lol.
One of the best storytellers and great friends with the Eagles when they got started.
I believe Jackson is the subject of Desperado
So glad you're checking out Jackson. He's so good but often overlooked.
'"Before the Deluge" is a must. Lots if great Jackson Browne tunes.
Jackson Browne is forever my love! 😍 His songs "Here Come Those Tears Again" & " These Days" are beautiful heartbreakers~
Thank you Jamel you have made this mess of a world. Sooo much more joyful. 😀
Try Jackson Browne .... "Running on Empty" and "Lawyers in Love".
Both great suggestions.
I would sing running on empty when my old Camaro was on E! Thanks to Zedge DOCTOR MY EYES is my doctor's ringtone
Does anyone know grew up in HIGHLAND PARK in Los Angeles I was always told Jackson Browne's grandmother lived there? Love & Happiness to you all
Lawyers is an underrated song that proved Jackson had a sense of humor.
Thank you, Jamel! I love your reactions and your deep appreciation of music. You truly do brighten my days! ♡
Jackson Browne’s “Lives in the Balance” Difficult leaders, different wars but the same old stories. We need to come together in peace.
If you're doing Jackson Browne, you have to check out "here come those tears again". Awesome song!
Sorry for your loss 💐
Great to see you doing some Jackson Browne. What an awesome talent!!
Jackson Browne! you have my attention!
Yessssssss!!!!!!
You the man! My favorite reactor, because of your ability to connect the music to the lyrics and then our current crazy times. These Days, is an incredible Jackson Browne song that I think you might appreciate.
As far as I'm concerned, this is Jackson Browne's best song.
Just so you know "Running on Empty:" is the one of the best song ever! Jackson Browne is a treasure.
"Ready or Not" , "Rosie" and " These Days" on "These Days" my favorite version is one he does with Gregg Allman, who also had a hit with it. The song is from the "Gregg Allman All My Friends " special.
Jamel....know your videos DO help us all thru these rough times. Thank You!
Jackson Browne Rock Me On the Water.
“For A Dancer” and “Late for the Sky” or two amazing Jackson Browne songs that show off some great singer/songwriting.
My two favorite, of many favorites.
YES YES YES
"Rock Me on the Water" and "These Days" are a couple of really great songs by Jackson Browne to check out.
Jackson is so awesome on the piano and he always has the best musicians with him. If you love the beat of this song, listen to Rock Me On The Water which is one of my favorite examples of his piano skills.
You're holding us all together with the music jamel
More Jackson Browne. His overall best song is Running on Empty. His first song ever written (at 16 yrs old) These Days is incredible. And his best ballad is Jamaica Say You Will.
Running on empty. A great song that always gets me in my feels. The lyrics go way deep for me.
Peace
The Load Out/Stay is my favorite JB song.
Jackson Browne is easily one of the top 10 songwriters in contemporary music. Please react to These Days and Your Bright Baby Blues.
Jackson Browne just takes me right back to the Seventies in my mind. Great voice, great lyrics, great songs!
The load out/ stay, is my favorite Jackson Browne song. Especially being a musician, I can relate feelings of the song. Keep up the good work.

One of my favorite songs ever, you can listen to this song a million times and it still never gets old. Jackson Browne's songs are all good.
Jackson Browne most personal song for me is “ Late For The Sky “. A haunting and beautiful song that he wrote after his first wife’s death. Eats at the heart .

Running on EMPTY WHOLE album is a classic
