I’ll never forget one day randomly I was thinking of Aaliyah’s family, i tweeted this beautiful photo of Rashad sitting and someone edited Angel wings on Aaliyah she was in the chair at the tonight show with a cropped crop top and she was laughing and they edited a picture of Rashad smiling next to her and i tweeted him and said “Please remember that when you are smiling, she’s smiling” he retweeted it and it made me feel this peace because I don’t know how his day was but I had hoped that it made him feel okay.
Great vid Tony! Rashad has been supportive of my Aaliyah illustrations & designs for many years now, and he’s always been so lovely whenever I have interacted with him. I’m now interacting with him much more now due to something iconic being released for the Queens legacy that I’m involved in coming next year, and just know that Rashad truly cares what the fans think. He’s a genuine soul and I’m learning even more how much he cares about his sisters legacy. It’s definitely not easy, as I can’t even imagine the pain that he and the lovely Diane must feel. I also think it’s not easy when it comes to brand partnerships, as the brand has to WANT to collab with Aaliyah’s estate, and Rashad definitely is going with projects/brands that he feels genuinely loves his sister or that make sense to him. I’m really excited to see where her legacy will continue to go, especially after next year, and I think the fans are gonna be so proud 🖤
It’s not just that he’s lost his sister. People forget that Rashad has since lost his dad not to mention supporting his mom. There’s been a lot of grieving in that family. He’s allowed to be human. Aaliyah and Rashad had such a beautiful sister and brother relationship. You can tell they truly loved and cared for each other. I love the songs Rashad wrote and was featured on throughout Aaliyah's career. I know there is only so much Rashad can do but I wish he was a bit more proactive in keeping her legacy alive. Maybe she's actually happy about the wave of awareness that is happening, because of her story and others, it is no longer culturally acceptable for family, fans, or industry to allow these types of things to happen, the small voices that wanted change have now become loud and clear. A light is beaming exactly were it needs to be for healing and correction, it may hurt to clean a wound but it's ultimately the right thing to do.
So I can say his depleted relationship with fans could be his own rude behavior of him suddenly deleting fans off his social media accounts some of us for absolutely no reason whatsoever , I can’t say that about all fans because some fans have been unruly, but for some fans like myself I can say his behavior has left many of us fans bitter and angry and frustrated and upset and very disappointed with him because it’s unnecessary behavior.

Video very well done. I certainly support the close sibling union and always had a great vibe from Rashad and appreciated all that he did, including his Aaliyah tribute song. I dig the puzzle too. I appreciate you looking at the siblings side of things, because people need to think about it a lot more and be far more considerate. Even for siblings that aren't trying to be celebrities themselves, the infamous "sibling curse" still applies. Fans have the power to end this curse, and extend more love to close-siblings too. That's what Aaliyah and good hearted public figures would want.
It must be so hard for Rashad. I remember in the early social media days can't remember if it was MySpace/ or when twitter first came out. But i asked him they should come out with Aaliyah sunglasses. He responded back in some words can't remember word for word but there's been discussions / in the works for near future. I love how balanced and fair your perspective when it comes to Rashad and the family situation, but I can't overlook the *personal* accounts of people who had bad experiences with Rashad. He actively would go out his way to attack and tear down dedicated fans who were doing their best to honor Aaliyah in the best, most respectful way. For the fake fans, trolls, and agents of drama who are DISRESPECTFUL and making us ALL look bad though, deserve whatever heat they get from Rashad and the Estate, etc. But most of the time, he would come for genuine fans who meant no harm. Specifically, the homie, Amorphous. Before Amorphous blew up and he was still a talented-but-slept-on-hidden-gem of a UA-camr, he explained to us a few different times how Rashad and his "team" kept coming at him maliciously for no reason! For one, Rashad came at his BEAUTIFUL fan-made documentary about Aaliyah. Amorphous had even gotten an EMAIL from someone (I forgot who) saying that the documentary was BEAUTIFUL...so expect "them" (Aaliyah's family) to come after him. They kept striking his channel and getting it taken down, but yet...when others ripped the documentary and reuploaded it on their channel, nothing was done to them. He even BLOCKED Amorphous on Twitter and other social media unprovoked, and til thus day Amorphous doesn't know why he did. But you know, now that he's blown up and in the realm of celebrity, I doubt he'll ever really talk about this again, but I for sure was there on his love streams when he talked about *all* of this. So for that reason and more, I can't COMPLETELY absolve Rashad of how he has treated Aaliyah's fans after 20 plus years of holding her legacy UP while it was in danger of crumbling and falling DOWN.
Yeah, Rashad don't always come across as nice&friendly. Was following him on Instagram at one point. Some of us are genuine when it comes to Aaliyah but the responses&stuff from him/family don't always come across as positive.

I think that Rashad is so vehemently against her music being released on streaming, it’s because it profit Barry Henkerson who might be on top of the list of the people he hates the most in the world, not only he is partially to blame for his sister crash but he has spent the years since her passing, attacking his sister and his nephew. Did Rashad handle the things incorrectly ? Yes but are the fans also to blame with the way they treated him, also yes. If he had made a communique stating the reasons behind the family unwillingness to have her music out there, I think the fans would have understood.
It was hard for people to talk in the past, the fear of also being taken out for saying "too much" is real. now is the time things are being revealed, everyone is talking, it becomes easier to speak when there are so many voices that it becomes a choir. I hope that in this new climate he might feel inclined to share anything he thinks will improve things. However, as we can see from outspoken people who are putting their necks on the line to pull back the rug and expose the demons, there is always a level of risk and it's not for us to say if their choice to talk or not is "incorrect" It's plain to see now, that if you say anything that messes with these industry folks paper, they can and often are willing to "sacrifice" you.
A man who is angry at what life has kicked at him will have a hard time loving someone, I don’t think people realize that he’s probably broken and hasn’t gave himself time to heal because he’s not wanting to, it’s like a wound that never heals it just going in cycles only to end up by yourself. Aaliyah adored her brother they were very close and she trusted him implicitly. She brought him into her work when ever she could. People will have opinions and I thought at the time the collection was nice and beautiful. The purple metallic packaging stood out. I like some of the Aaliyah shirts but a few iconic photoshoots need to be promoted. A few more that fans would love to see. Regardless, Rashad carrying the burden is very painful. I've lost two of my volder siblings and I miss them so much. I just cannot imagine what it would be like to have to constantly navigate through grief of this magnitude. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking on it. The grief never goes away, you just pick up the pieces & learn to live through it.
The problem is what fans really want is Aaliyah back, not just a legacy, so whatever is done in her memory is never going to be good enough. But what those fans need to remember is no matter how much they love Aaliyah, her brother loves her more

Although it may not be the artists themselves that have a hand in these choices, it doesn't seem right to have anyone else profiting off of her that is known or strongly suspected to have had big industry handlers sabotaging other's careers in order to allow a near monopoly to be created for them. Again, the artists themselves may not have known, or had a choice or hand in that type of arrangement, but it's still a conflict of interest to me.
Rashad is quite limited in what he can do re: Aaliyah projects. Aaliyah’s music is an integral piece of her aesthetic. To not have access to her music means Aaliyah LLC are missing a key marketing component. As much as we would love i.e. a coffee table book, it wouldn’t sell to the general public. Large media sync deals require the incorporation of her catalogue.

Maybe she's actually happy about the wave of awareness that is happening, because of her story and others, it is no longer culturally acceptable for family, fans, or industry to allow these types of things to happen, the small voices that wanted change have now become loud and clear. So I can say his depleted relationship with fans could be his own rude behavior of him suddenly deleting fans off his social media accounts some of us for absolutely no reason whatsoever , I can’t say that about all fans because some fans have been unruly, but for some fans like myself I can say his behavior has left many of us fans bitter and angry and frustrated and upset and very disappointed with him because it’s unnecessary behavior.

Video very well done. I certainly support the close sibling union and always had a great vibe from Rashad and appreciated all that he did, including his Aaliyah tribute song. I dig the puzzle too. I appreciate you looking at the siblings side of things, because people need to think about it a lot more and be far more considerate. Even for siblings that aren't trying to be celebrities themselves, the infamous "sibling curse" still applies. Fans have the power to end this curse, and extend more love to close-siblings too. That's what Aaliyah and good hearted public figures would want.
It must be so hard for Rashad. I remember in the early social media days can't remember if it was MySpace/ or when twitter first came out. But i asked him they should come out with Aaliyah sunglasses. He responded back in some words can't remember word for word but there's been discussions / in the works for near future.

I miss Aaliyah, I'm still a super huge fan. I'm not gonna lie I was crushing on Aaliyah brother, I do feel so bad for him and still hope him and Ms. Diana are doing OK. I remember that award show Aaliyah bringing her brother on stage and I remember the MTV Diary episode I had that episode recorded on VHS tape.
I love how balanced and fair your perspective when it comes to Rashad and the family situation, but I can't overlook the *personal* accounts of people who had bad experiences with Rashad. He actively would go out his way to attack and tear down dedicated fans who were doing their best to honor Aaliyah in the best, most respectful way. For the fake fans, trolls, and agents of drama who are DISRESPECTFUL and making us ALL look bad though, deserve whatever heat they get from Rashad and the Estate, etc. But most of the time, he would come for genuine fans who meant no harm. Specifically, the homie, Amorphous. Before Amorphous blew up and he was still a talented-but-slept-on-hidden-gem of a UA-camr, he explained to us a few different times how Rashad and his "team" kept coming at him maliciously for no reason! For one, Rashad came at his BEAUTIFUL fan-made documentary about Aaliyah. Amorphous had even gotten an EMAIL from someone (I forgot who) saying that the documentary was BEAUTIFUL...so expect "them" (Aaliyah's family) to come after him. They kept striking his channel and getting it taken down, but yet...when others ripped the documentary and reuploaded it on their channel, nothing was done to them. He even BLOCKED Amorphous on Twitter and other social media unprovoked, and til thus day Amorphous doesn't know why he did. But you know, now that he's blown up and in the realm of celebrity, I doubt he'll ever really talk about this again, but I for sure was there on his love streams when he talked about *all* of this. So for that reason and more, I can't COMPLETELY absolve Rashad of how he has treated Aaliyah's fans after 20 plus years of holding her legacy UP while it was in danger of crumbling and falling DOWN.
Yeah, Rashad don't always come across as nice&friendly. Was following him on Instagram at one point. Some of us are genuine when it comes to Aaliyah but the responses&stuff from him/family don't always come across as positive.

I think that Rashad is so vehemently against her music being released on streaming, it’s because it profit Barry Henkerson who might be on top of the list of the people he hates the most in the world, not only he is partially to blame for his sister crash but he has spent the years since her passing, attacking his sister and his nephew. Did Rashad handle the things incorrectly ? Yes but are the fans also to blame with the way they treated him, also yes. If he had made a communique stating the reasons behind the family unwillingness to have her music out there, I think the fans would have understood.
Right Rashad being so private about things makes people come up with their own conclusions.
It was hard for people to talk in the past, the fear of also being taken out for saying "too much" is real. now is the time things are being revealed, everyone is talking, it becomes easier to speak when there are so many voices that it becomes a choir. I hope that in this new climate he might feel inclined to share anything he thinks will improve things.
However, as we can see from outspoken people who are putting their necks on the line to pull back the rug and expose the demons, there is always a level of risk and it's not for us to say if their choice to talk or not is "incorrect" It's plain to see now, that if you say anything that messes with these industry folks paper, they can and often are willing to "sacrifice" you.

I feel for Rashad. Really I want to CRY in tears for him. Losing a sibling hurts. Everyday he has to keep moving forward. I love the MAC collection! I have a few items. People will have opinions and I thought at the time the collection was nice and beautiful. The purple metallic packaging stood out. I like some of the Aaliyah shirts but a few iconic photoshoots need to be promoted. A few more that fans would love to see. Regardless, Rashad carrying the burden is very painful. I do believe he deserves to get help as well. He can't do it by himself. The wax figure is FLAWLESS period!!! However, I got f*cking PISSED when ignorants messed it up! I've lost two of my volder siblings and I miss them so much. I just cannot imagine what it would be like to have to constantly navigate through grief of this magnitude. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking on it. The grief never goes away, you just pick up the pieces & learn to live through it.

Although it may not be the artists themselves that have a hand in these choices, it doesn't seem right to have anyone else profiting off of her that is known or strongly suspected to have had big industry handlers sabotaging other's careers in order to allow a near monopoly to be created for them. Again, the artists themselves may not have known, or had a choice or hand in that type of arrangement, but it's still a conflict of interest to me.

Rashad is quite limited in what he can do re: Aaliyah projects. Aaliyah’s music is an integral piece of her aesthetic. To not have access to her music means Aaliyah LLC are missing a key marketing component. As much as we would love i.e. a coffee table book, it wouldn’t sell to the general public. Large media sync deals require the incorporation of her catalogue.
