Ohhh ok thank you for the clarification, do you have any budget friendly suggestions for a 27mm lens? I'm saving up for the Fujifilm XT-30 II camera now@@PaulTakesPhotos
@@Chloe-to7my Id go for a used camera and used lens if i were you. Fujifilm 27mm f2.8 (Mark 1) is about 250usd. TtArtisan 27mm AF is new 200 bucks (review coming up) and 27mm Fujifilm Mark iI (with aperture ring) is new roughly 450 bucks
@@PaulTakesPhotos hi Paul, I’ve bought the Ttartisan lens and I’m trying to download the firmware to the lens like the instructions say but I’m having a hard time, any suggestions? I’ve downloaded the file to a windows computer but in the tutorial he just opens the file and takes out a specific part, I am not able to open the file to the specific part
I bought the Xt 30ii a few months ago. It is my very first camera and I am a very inexperienced photographer. I chose this camera for the dials. I think it will help me learn and understand the exposure settings better. And second I still have so much to learn about taking a photo that I don’t want to learn editing at the same time. So I love the film simulations I can choose and just shoot raw And jpeg. This camera is small enough for me to take it out anywhere, which means I am practicing more.
Excellent choice especially as a first camera. Try over time to shoot in M mode (manual) so you control iso, shutter and aperture. What is your biggest challenge at the moment when it comes to photography
@@friendhernandez488 in the US and Canada it seems to be sold out l, rest of the world it is still available. Depends where you are based. Used market is an option although it is pricey
Slap that 27mm pancake lens on it and you basically have an X100V !!! I have the XT30MK1 and it truly is amazing. Did a lot of professional work on it. UA-cam: Jhene Aiko "None Of Your Concern" 74million views ! All on the XT30.
I am sure surprised by the capabilities and quality of the xt30ii. And indeed paired with the 27mm it becomes very pocketable and great Image quality and autofocus although I do love shooting manual. Which lens did you use most?
I bought the XT30ii on my last trip to Taiwan, too :) I actually came to Taiwan with my Lumix S5..but carrying this camera after a while I was very annoyed by the size and weight of this camera. In the past I had a Fujifilm Camera already and I knew, their quality is very good. So I checked the shops and bought this camera and I couldnt be happier. It was half the weight of the Lumix Camera. Now I can travel with a light and powerful package.
For travel I'll always recommend to travel as.lighr as possible. Took me some time to figure that one out myself :) and the XT30ii has a great form factor and great Image quality
Bought the X-T30II a few weeks ago, and it is my first Fuji camera. Great camera, I enjoy the photography experience with it immensely! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I use the XC 15/45 with mine and despite any concerns it’s great glass, light, small and gives you a bit of flexibility. I’d suggest people give it a go.
The problem is with a prime you have no stabilisation. Given that Fuji now in 2024 with the high end kit 16-50 f/2.8 are signalling that the future is IBIS (having said previously it was impossible!) I would avoid the unstabilised bodies now unless you want to commit to legacy lenses for shorter focal length zooms. Hopefully they will not ditch OIS in long focal lengths as Olympus so often did relying on IBIS for many lenses. The sensor with my EM10 II with the 75-300mm sounded like it would fly out of the camera frantically trying to hold things steady at maximum zoom.
I bought the XT30II a few months ago. I was stocked in to Fujifilm thanks to the X100v but I did not really want to be restricted to a fixed lens. I chose the XT30II over the XE4 simply because of the looks and the extra dial for that retro feel. It reminds me of my first 2nd hand 35mm camera in the early 80’s. I’m loving the Fujifilm system and it’s simulations are amazing 👍
I don't mind fixed lenses on cameras but i also at times, like you, that it is posses a restriction and x100v if you add a lens hood it becomes very much bulky and difficult to carry in your pocket Which lens(es) do you shoot with?
I got the 18-55mm ‘kit’ lens which seems pretty amazing so far. I also bought the 35mm F2, rarely use it to be honest but nice and sharp. I reckon I’ll also get a 55-200mm shortly
@@stevenharper6888 the kitlens is probably one of the best ones ever made indeed:) some excellent glass there. Recently added the 27mm and 90mm lenses which are my street lenses believe it or not. Review coming up
biggest reason is the size! With 27 mm the camera is that small - i love it ! It's extremly underratet and often i walk around my xt30 the people are asking if i do filmphotography
I had somebody asking me the same if i was shooting film :) it's form factor and the ability to change lenses makes it awesome. Review of the camera coming up
I bought it last year as a travel camera. Could not find a new 100V at the time. I love using it and have taken it on serveral trips. I am a Nikon shooter (over 40 years) and the Z6II is my main camera . Howevr I really enjoy this Fujifilm camera and the picture quality is excellant. It is a fun camera to use and comes with a great kit lenss for a fair price.
THIS should be the camera that should get all the hype, instead for the X-E4! Thanks for the video man! I was tired of waiting for availibility of the x100v and now with the latest word wide cancellation of all orders of the X-E4 in late April, which I was directly impacted by and I should have gotten my unit in June and now 1.5 months after officially ordering one, they just cancelled my order! WTF?! So I just went for the X-T30ii instead and I think it really is the "better X-E4" in every regard! Not a pain in the butt stripped down button layout and weird haptics. This one has everything the X-E4 has but actually better and it is really almost the same size.
I agree that the XT30ii is very much underrated. The XT30ii is for the photography and the XS-10 for the hybrid and videographer. I doubted about the xe4 but hated the slim design and as a former xe-3 owner i also don't like the grip on the ze series
Totally agree. I’m a Fuji camera lovers since years, started with X-E1, the X-T1, X-E2, X-T2, X-T3 the X-H2s as I’m doing more and more videos. I still have X-T2 and X-T3 but was looking for a small setup totally oriented toward street photography. I bought, 2 months ago, a used X-T30 II and I use it with the 27mm f2.8 pancake and the 18mm f2 with its lovely squared lens hood. Sometimes even with the 33mm f1.4 even if setup becomes more cumbersome. It’s for me the perfect setup for my daily camera, the one I always have with me. So yes I totally agree with you. Just one note regarding one of your statements, X-T30 II is not equivalent of X-T4, you don’t have IBIS (but it’s not that important for street photography) and videos are only in 8 bits with far less video modes (4K 60fps for instance)
Great comments! With regards to my statement comparing the xt30ii with the xt-4 i was referring to the main features (sensor, af, film sims etc) but i didn't articulate it well enough :/ thanks for highlighting it
Awesome! In my view the XS-10 and XT30ii are simply underappreciated and provide great experiences for photographers who'd also provide video services. Going to test it now for a week with the 27mm on travel :)
I've been on Canon for 30+ years!!! 5D's... last month I also purchased the X-T30ii and I can't stop using it, I've already racked up 3,000 shots.. I love it so much, it really reminds me of when i first got behind the lens. I shoot mostly in manual using a Helios 44/3 and the results are stunning :-) It's a real pleasure to use!!!
Fujifilm in general is great to use. I think the power is in the form factor and the fluent way of use combined with the design and image quality. You shoot manual?
@@PaulTakesPhotos I do, flipping the little slide on the front to M, and changing the focus to give red on the edges, it's easy and I can't recommend the Helios 44/3 enough ;-)
Is it only my experience that the exposure compensation dial is very tight to turn? Because of that I end up pushing the function which is in front of it all the time. Is your X-T30 II the same?
I still own and I'm more than happy with my Sony A7III and I do have very expensive and good lenses for it. But for streetphotograhy I saw the XT-30 now and I think I'm gonna buy it.
I still own my Sony A7III too and use it mainly for music and big events. Perfect for it. But that said for EDC, Street and Travel I find the XT30ii or any other Fujifilm camera (excluding the x100 and xpro series) a very pleasant photography experience. Not heavy, small, compact, great controls and nice film Sims/recipes. Great photography experience. Enjoy it
I have a tendency to shoot on more narrow (50-90 mm on APs-c). The channel is full with Fujifilm lens reviews. What focal length do you use on full frame? The no brainer is the 18-55mm kitlens.
@@PaulTakesPhotos I got the deal with the 18-15mm but also treated myself to the Xf35 F2 wr. Once I've got used to it, I can see how lenses would very quickly become an addiction!!
That is a good question, but I have to be honest to you. I never shot on the Xrpo 3. Feature wise they are very similar. The form factor is different and obviously the LCD is differently constructed. Image quality is similar. Xpro 3 is weather sealed. Biggest difference is that XPRO3 is modelled after a range finder style camera. My advice would be rent an xpro 3 to feel if you like it.
I'm new to photography and want to buy my very first camera soon. I really like x-t30 ii. But the problem is they are not weather sealed. Is it really that important?
Weather is great, but make no mistake. I shoot in drizzle with non weather sealed cameras all the time. The biggest enemy in my opinion is not as much water, but dust. If you use your camera sensible no issue. That are some protection cases against rain and/or dust
Thank you for the review/video. What are the limitations of this camera, If you primarily do nature/wildlife photography? I know it does not have ibis, but you can use lenses that have stabilization. Not sure if Fuji cameras support dual stabilization (body & lenses), for those complaining that it does not have ibis.If I may ask what made you choose this camera over the XS - 20 as it’s roughly $300 difference in price with the lens? I suspect it may have been the retro look. I’m really torn between three cameras, the xt30ii, OM-5 and the XS-20. I really like the small form factor of the OM-5 /mft and the true value with the lenses in that system. The picture quality is very similar to that of Fujifilm that it looks more natural and vibrant. Would really like to know your thoughts.
thanks for sharing your thoughts and asking for a second opinion. You are the 2nd person asking for wild life this week. Depends a lot with what lens you shoot, but I am assuming superzoom. (100-400 or 70-300) In my opinion the lack of IBIS can be easily solved by a tripod, It is more the AF for wildlife on Fujifilm I am not too sure about and one other thing: it is not weather sealed. Depending on where you are based that can become an issue over time. OM systems have probably the best IBIS and a great range of wildlife lenses. I use the Sony A7iii & 200-600 for Wildlife, mainly because of the dual stab, excellent AF-C. I would recommend you to try to rent a fujfilm XT4/XT30ii and the OM with a lens. That way you get some field time and will be able to make an informed decision. Hope this was helpful
Could all you photographers get together and decide between you what we should buy? I've been looking for days to decide on a camera, only to be confused with all the various " why I bought...and why you should too"😡
I'm in such a pickle, i managed to get the x100v brand new!!! still haven't opened the box because i'm thinking i need the different lens so just taken delivery of the xt-3011but still haven't opened that either, which camera do i send back???
What do you think about buying the X-T30 in 2023? I am able to source a very good quality second hand one for $575 and I dont feel the difference between the I and the II is worth such a big jump in prices?
I think the XT30 is an excellent camera. More importantly you save a lot of money buying it which you can put towards great lenses. Cameras come and go, but we marry out lenses
Biggest differences are in autofocus system, facial tracking and build quality. The thumb rest on the xt20 has a habit of getting lose or fallen of. In terms of image quality both are excellent
Great video! Thank you. I’ve tried X-E3 and X-100v and hated them. I need tilt screen for street photography. Thanks for your review I’m now attracted to X-T30II.
I owned the x100 for yrs and to be honest. It still is very good... if you are will to accept two things: autofocus is choppy and only the basic film Sims, but the experience and image quality is still awesome, especially because of the older Bayer sensor it provides unique image quality and the build quality is good and you can pick one used up for a fair price. Make sure to ask if the lens has a problem with the sticky shutter
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thank you so much for your kind respones! I have no camera right now but my friend recommend me a fujifilm x-t100 which the price is affordable for a newbie to jump into photography world, but i just doubt when i saw the released date 2018. But now im going to purchase xt100 after i read your replies hahaha, thank you for sharing the experience with xt 100 😁😁😁
When I had the x100v I always thought I was fighting the camera. I sold it after having it a year and only 400 shutter actuations. I do enjoy the manual / semi manual experience. Getting ready to order a pixii
Both share the same sensor and profiles. XT30Ii is photography centric where the XS10 is more of hybrid camera. I prefer the XT30ii. The XS-20:is about the be released so the xs-10 will probably drop in price. Regardless in terms of basic features your can't go wrong on either of them
Yes it is but it is not weather sealed. Which if you're out and about is kinda important. That said yes it is good for it. Personally for landscape I'd go for an used xt3 and the 10-24mm f/4 or the 16mm f/2.8 lens.
Give me a suggestion please. I can't decide betwwn xt30ii and xt3 ( nowadays it's possibile to find them more or less at the same price on the second hand market). I make street and portrait photography. Which one do you suggest and why? Thanks in advance
@@otiliochiodero1110 in terms of technology (sims ect) the XT30II is more advanced, but the xt3 has weather sealing and the nice dials on top and when youre shooting with heavier lenses (90mm, 18-55mm, 10-24mm for example) I do find the xt1-4 far better in terms of overal shooting experience. I do love shooting the XT30II with smaller lenses (27mm, 16mm, 23mm to name a few). Id suggest you try if you can view or rent both of them. Cameras are like cars, it remains a personal choice and additionally look at them as tools. Question yourself what you really going to photograph? Do you need big lenses. Hope this helps
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thanks so much for the feedback. Doing street photography and portraits (both out of passion) I thought about combining it with the 27mm Fuji pancake. My idea was to recreate the x100v without spending too much and still having the possibility of changing lenses in the future since it would be my only camera body. At the moment I don't see any need for other lenses than 27 mm because I'm an amateur photographer and I want to practice with a fixed lens and I don't have a big budget. Of the xt3 I like the double card and the viewfinder which is said to be larger and more comfortable, of the xt30ii the portability and the more up-to-date film simulations (I also choose Fuji for the film simulations).
I can't tell you if you are better off. I can provide the following which compares the specs of both cameras cameradecision.com/compare/Fujifilm-X-T30-II-vs-Fujifilm-X-T100 And yes your godox flash will work.
I would not be able to compare with the canon R50 as I never shot with that camera. I would advise you to rent both cameras so you can determine which one is for you
Please help. Is the lack of IBIS a big issue? Enough to go for the XS20 instead? I intend to use an 85mm equivalent (perhaps the 18-55mm lens) on it for mostly portrait shoots with wide apertures.
If you use the 18-55 it comes with lens stabilization. The X'S20 is a hybrid camera and in my opinion is far better suited for video than the XT30ii alternative is the XT4
I’m very interested in buying the XT30ii but I’m only confused if a newer version comes out this year? Wouldn’t want to miss out on a newer model by a few months!
Well if it comes out. That is the question. I normally don't buy the latest camera as i prefer investing in good lenses. Let's see if Fuji will surprise us
Planning to upgrade from my existing FujiFilm X-T200 to either of the 3 as mentioned - probably XT-30 II, but I am so intrigued with Fujifilm X100V !!!
The x100v didn't really do it for me in terms of shooting experience. The XT30 or XT30ii are my go-to's. It will be interesting to see if an XT50 will be released by Fujifilm
Xt4, x100v, xe4, XT30II all have the same sensor, same film Sims, same results. Difference is form factor and with xt4 it is in body stabilization, enhanced video features and weather sealing.
any tips for finding your first 5 photography clients? as well as tips for pricing structures, and ways to make it liveable to at least like pay off the equipment in a reasonable time
I am not a professional full time photographer, that said I do the occasional gig: mostly concerts and local events. I get those because of FB and my own website. Making money as a full timer photographer is not and has never been easy. Nowadays video plays and increasing role. Easiest is giving courses, tours etc.
@@PaulTakesPhotos wow thanks for the insight Paul, appreciate you! i am surprised to hear that you do not do it full-time. i totally assumed you did because of how knowledgeable you are. do you mind me asking what you do then full-time that helps you afford such high-end gear? :)
I take photos part-time, and I simply go to a spot where people go for an afternoon stroll. I then approach them and tell them I'm marketing my photography services and ask if I can take a photo of them, and send it to them on whatsapp for free. That has brought in some business, and I also got involved with a local modeling agency for free, which also helps me.
I am considering this camera, but I have a question! I know that the xt30-ii now can record 1080P@240FPS, instead of just @120FPS like the original xt30. I also know that the original xt30 had an additional 1.29x crop at 120FPS, but did they remove the additional crop on the newer xt30-ii at 120FPS? Im sure at 240FPS it still has the crop, but I would hope that at 120FPS it wouldn't??
Hi Paul. Thanks a lot for your detailed video. I have a question - I'm going to present XT-30 II for my wife and she is beginner, but really like to make photos, so will you advice this model for beginner in 2023 (almost 24...) and those people who like travel a lot? Thanks in advance...
Yes it is an excellent camera for beginners as it allows your wife to become a seasoned photographer without having to change cameras. I do have a small tutorial on the channel detailing my settings. Tip for a beginner. Shoot in Auto at the start and test the film Sims.
X-t30ii is the best value fujifilm camera, particularly when found used, but I had to sell mine and come back to the Xpro2, it's so feature packed, it's distracting. A lot of the times, I find the focus moving around as I compose my shot as the control nub is so easy to bump. It's not solid as the xpro2's. I thought, I'd get used to it over time but it only proved to be really annoying. Also I cannot for the life of me, negotiate what the heck does the front command dial do? is it aperture? is it ISO? On my X-T10, it can be clearly defined, front dial ISO, back dial aperture. Very simple. I thought I'd love having all the film simulations, but I ended up getting distracted by trying out the recipes. I wasn't focusing with photography anymore. I ended up letting it go and going back to the xpro 2 with abysmal battery life because I pay more attention to the photo I'm taking there, rather than trying to maximize all the features.
I had the X-E4 before, sold it for an X100V, sold that and got a X-S10, sold the X-S10 and now got the X-T30II. For me its the best of all the other cameras for still photo, for video maybe X-S10 is better.
You almost sound like me :) i do agree the xs-10 is more hybrid and is basically a mini xt4 in terms of video capabilities. For photographers like us, the xt30ii is beter suited :)
Ive got an XT10 which i love because its compact and great for travel but now i also want to do some video streaming - would you recommend upgrading to xt30ii or XT3 (these are in my price range)? Also i heard the joystick on the xt30 is a bit abnoying, what is your experience?
Hi Paul, I own an XT20, and it's an excellent camera! The issue I faced with the camera was the frequent lens error which gave me cold feet. How is your experience with the XT30 so far? If anyone is among the group facing the same issues with the XT20, please help because the Fuji support is hopeless, unfortunately.😢
@@PaulTakesPhotos Hi Paul, I came across the same problem with an XT30. This is precisely the same problem I have with my T20, and if you do some Google work, you will find out more about the issue and how silent Fujinis about this. Fuji is unable to identify the root cause of the problem. It was there with XT20 and XT30 and probably still with the XT30II. When switching the camera, the screen starts flashing on/off ending up with a lens error. Tried many things including different lens. ua-cam.com/video/d8_aQo0YeQM/v-deo.html
@@aynurturgut-bingol5258 That's strange. I don't think I've ever had that message on my X-T30. Maybe once when the lens wasn't fully twisted onto the mount. Great camera though and I was asked if it was a film camera, as people mention with this camera.
I also have an A7III and four lenses, I was looking at Fuji as I am attracted to the film simulations as I just shoot jpegs now. The X100v was attractive but not available, so I was looking at the X-T20 used. Do you think it's better to pay the extra and go for the new X-T20ii.
@@PaulTakesPhotos I'm a photographer. I don't do much video. I come from the Lumix S1R FF so the X-H2 is tiny in comparison. The X-T30II is microscopic! 🤣
Hahaha yeah Lumix FF is meaty indeed. I have a Sony A7III which compared the XT30ii is a big boy, compared to my ricoh griii-x the Fujifilm XT30ii is bulky boy
I’m pretty new to the photography world. I got recommended the canon R50 and I see in the comments all over that canon does not allow third party lenses to be compatible with their cameras and then I heard about this Fuji camera. Anything else I should be aware about with these brands?
Canon are great cameras but indeed it doesn't allow 3rd party lenses and in general the cameras are a bit bulky. Fuji cameras are smaller and lighter, but their auto focus is average, great lens range. Lumix is a great alternative, small, smaller sensor and smaller lenses. Check out my episode on the Lumix GX80/85 with two pancake lenses
I have the same grip as yours but in the black configuration, XT30 2 is my first interchangeable lens camera , I replaced the 15-45 in the kit with a prime Fujifilm XF 33mm 1.4 R LM WR and I'm super happy with it. With the same total budget I could have gotten a body only XT5 (plus ibis&WR) but not a good lens.
OH my God!! I didn't know that the display screen can't be flipped. I have already purchased but not in hand yet. I want to do content creation at home and if I can't flip then how to settle this problem? I need to buy external monitoring screen?
Relax no panic. You have two options: either connect you cam to your phone or buy a small reverse mirror. You do know the XT30ii has a recording limit right?
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thank you for your suggestion. I have changed the order since it has no flip screen and limited recording. Luckily Harvey Norman allows me to switch items. I changed to Cannon R7 which is the only made in Japan model in their shop. I am so suprised that the Fujifilm I ordered firstly was made in China. Thanks to you I have changed to correct camera for me I think. But I really love the cinamatic shots by Fujifilm and its ready-made 18 transitions which I want to have in every camera.
@MarickY23 if you want Japanese produced Fuji, the XT2 series is the way to go. You know I have never shot with Canon but I am happy you made the right choice for yourself. Keep me posted on how you like it. The XT4 would probably be a good alternative
@@PaulTakesPhotos Sure! But currently trying not to drop the camera. :) One day probably I would get one of the Fujis you've described . Thank you again!!
Hi Jack, thanks for the question. From a technical perspective both are excellent. In terms of features i find the Fujifilm menus easier to navigate and obviously Fujifilm has the film simulations available. Sony has the shooting profiles. I would recommend to look at the lenses available for both mounts. Additionally size and weight of the camera and lens size/weight can play a decision. I owned the a6400 but used it more for video as i love shooting every day or street on Fujifilm. I'd suggest to try and rent a Sony and/or Fujifilm for a day. Users experience is often overlooked here on UA-cam. Hope this is helpful
@@PaulTakesPhotos this was for sure helpful. Thank you!! I know I do want to get into videography one which is why I leaned more towards the a6400 however I do love the film simulations
Full review and the accessories are included in the review. I don't have the camera with me at the moment that is the main reason I can't give you the full name and number
I agree with everything you said, that’s a very sound way of going about this fuji market right now. However, I said f all of the new/new-ish bodies and went with a good o’l X-t1. I’ll hop back into newer fujis when the market simmers down. I would jump at an xt30ii for $700 though.
X-T1 is amazing. I’ve had one for a year with the 35mm f/1.4 as my one cam one lens setup. I only wish it was a bit smaller hence I’m considering the XT-xx series. X100 series would be perfect for me if it had a 35mm lens
I bought few months ago the XT30ll and everything were super. From yesterday something…went wrong…explain,I’m using the auto mode setting manually the f stop, suddenly the rotation button when I turn it it doesn’t change the f stop, staysto the minimum lens stop.please can anyone tell me we’re is the problem…
My first DSLR was the superb Fuji S1 Pro approx 3.2 m.pixel byt its CCD was for that time fantastic in low light and the way its CCD worked Fuji said it was more like a 6.4m.pixel. I didnt agree full with taht but yes it easuly mat hed any 5+ m.pix3l from the likes of canon and especially Nikon whos mount thus its glass it shared. I then moved to Sony's NEX 5 at juat over 14 mpixel and then to the 5T and then the NEX 7 which I still own, also tried teh Olympus OMD5. I then bought a used Fuji X-T1 and love it was great after having used many an Canon FD system, I am mow in a time I want to upgrade and have just ordered the X-T30 ii on amazon so just hoping stock comes in. I was looking at the X-T4 or possibly the X-T3 or the X-S10 but this spec wise looked far better value, when it arrives keep fingers crossed will sel, my much loved Sony NEX 7 which says something about how highly I rate Fuji. Nice thing will now hopefully be only one lot of glass to buy rather tahn two makes. The X-T30 ii on ppaer looks like a no brainer over pretty much every other new csc.
Well I do use the XT-4 for photography too I have to admit, but it is better for video. Stopped using my Sony A7III.... that is how good it is for video :)
REALLY????? Curious because Ive been considering buying sony a7iii for video and Fuji xt4 for photography is the video on the sony really that comparable?@@PaulTakesPhotos
@@samiabamia Sony a7iii autofocus still blows the Fujifilm out of the water. Number of log profiles on sony is really suitable for pro filmers. That said it doesnt have a fliipscreen and the skin tones tend to have a greenish hue. The XT4 is very simple to use and the output for what I do is great. For photography the sensor on the XT4 is the same as on x100v ex&XT30II. That said for photography the sony is really good in lowlight and fast shooting scenarios. RAW is great and the battery is superioir to anything Fujifilm has to offer. On top of it is full frame. I use the a7iii for all day events and concert photography.
Between the Sony a7 II and the Fuji XT-30 which is better in all aspects? I am stuck between the two since they are similar and both great options. Any suggestions?
Both are great cameras. I'd suggest you look at what lenses you want to use first (street, landscape, birding, portrait etc). With regards to the cameras both are great but do have a slightly different target audience. XT30(Ii) is made for travel/street photography (obviously portrait ect can be done) it is light, easy to carry, easy to use menus, decent battery life and decent autofocus and on top of it you get the film sims. The A7iI is a full frame camera, with fantastic autofocus, menus take a bit of time, video capabilities are excellent, battery life is so so and the camera is more hybrid users focussed. I'd suggest you try to rent both cameras so you can feel the camera... It remains personal camera handling. One thing about the A7Ii if you have budget the a used A7III is a better option. Hope this was helpful
XT30II doesn't have IBIS. X-S10 is the same size and has the same specs but it also has ibis for a similar price. The only reason to buy XT30II is the hipster button layout.
I see the xS-10 as a more videography centric camera with exactly the same photography capability as the XT30ii. And yes you are right the XS10 is more like a mini XT4. Never knew the XT30ii was a hipster camera. Learned something again at the tender age of 50 👍😃📸
I want to buy this camera to make videos and photos, the x-t4 is too expensive for me, but I'm worried I'm missing the mark on not buying the x-t4, but seeing they have the same sensor I don't feel like spending too much is necessary, I can get around it to film video, I doubt I'll have a time when I need to shoot for more than 20 minutes at all. What do you think?
@@PaulTakesPhotos thanks for your answer. The xs10 looks amazing and I found a fair price for it. Should I go for it? I'm worried I won't get the same features as the xt-30 ii, I've heard some people saying it's worse than the xt-30 ii but seeing pictures taken with it it seems it offers a lot
@@Guille-mz7xf the xt30ii is more photography centric whereas the xs-10 is videographer centric. If you want both the XT3 or XT4 are worth considering. Before you buy try renting one.
@@PaulTakesPhotos I'm afraid I don't have the money to rent rn. I think I'm going for the X-s10 because I found it used at a very good price and I can't miss it. The other cameras I only find them at 1000 and this one its 200 euros less, which is what I can afford, and since I'm more video focused the features are worth it
Well it is a lot of money. I'd buy the body new and buy the 18-55mm used it will save you a lot of money. If you can find a used XT30ii from a trusted seller, I'd go for that too. Alternatively try to rent it from the shop. That way you know what you are buying and if it is for you. Camera experiences tend to be very personal. If any questions let me know
Unfortunately I live in a small country and there arent many used options to go for.. On our most famous used stuff market page there's only around 7 or 8 used fuji's and none are xt30, lenses are even worse... The other choice I have is getting the XS-20 with 18-55mm for 1800€, which kinda seems like a better deal.@@PaulTakesPhotos
I do have a question, thank you very much :) Whats the general best Fuji lenses I could go for if I can find them used? Also are primes better than variable ones?@@PaulTakesPhotos
When it comes to lenses, I'd always go for the 18-55mm to start with as it comes with stabilization (XT30II doesn't have IBS). I do recommend the following lenses based on my experience: Fujifilm 16m m, Sigma 56mm f/1.4 or FUJIFILM 90mm f/2 and as a zoom 18-55mm. Prime has my preference, but in my first years I did shoot zoom lenses. Both have pros and cons. Most important question is what type of photography are you into?
There is something that keeps me away from xt30ii is that it has no image stabilizer I going with xs10. I don't care what others say. I not fujifilm shoter, so I need a camera for travel only
Thank you Paul for such a well explained video. I understand that Fuji will have a summit on 12 September and I hope so much they will announce a new X-T40. That is holding me back from buying the X-T30.
Thank you for the compliment it means a lot to me. I do hope Fujifilm will release the XT50 as I see the XT30ii as the XT40. I'd be very curious what specs the XT50 will have if it ever will be made.
Unfortunately no release yet of the XT40/50 so I bought the XT30II. I am looking forward for a video how to set up / how you have set up the best this camera for causal shooting and street/travel photography :-)
@ajeesh3485 for a beginner I would suggest renting any of the above first. Reasons are simple: cameras are not only about specs but also how you experience them.
In Canada it’s $1,249.99 still worth it? Because I’m thinking this for my first camera, mainly photography not worried about video, but does ibis help photography if your a beginner? It’s all about stead hands right
If it is your first camera I'd go second hand for the XT10 (or XT1) or XT20 and get the 18-55mm. The combo should set you back about 500-600 USD.. if you don't like it you'll sell it. Additionally you could rent a Fujifilm before you buy. That way you spent a little money and can test a camera
I actually overlooked it and you are right it is a great camera and most likely still available in Canada :) that said most Fujifilm shooters really buy Fuji camera because of the retro design look. The XS-10 is more modern look. Under bonnet it is a damn fine camera. I only realised ita day after posting the episode.
The one thing i will say about the xs10 is that it feels sizeably bigger and has the swivel fully articulated screen more suited for video (makes sense, it has IBIS).
Nope it has been recorder yesterday (Sunday). I am a fan of sensor and film sims of the 4 series. I see no need to buy the latest Fujifilm (XT-5 or XHS) however good they are. Was looking to upgrade from my XT2 and XE1
#1 reason... it's the only one available left....fujifilm marketing went disgusting in 2023...all thanks to the failure of the T4... Fuji get things right. Update the x70 and make it complete with ricoh gr iii...and make sure the bounce flash pop up is there. And you dude...anything for the 100v video trends and click bait content.
@Paul Takes Photos trending topics on YT, no offense to you...byproduct of the YT spellcast... fuji made a mistake in prioritizing video/Sony Market in one year's sprint. The fast return to the T5 confirms. The viral 100v event has been disgusting is all. It's just the macroeconomic impact running a grab cash campaign by fuji
@@andrewasher2201 thanks for clarifying i do own the xt4 as well (sold x100v found it horrible whilst i did like my x100 years ago) and i use it for video talking heads on the channel. XT30ii provides a great travel and street photography experience in every single way. As for the xt5 i am not stoked on it yet. I hope Fujifilm will produce a modern point a shoot competitor for the Ricoh GR series. I miss the old compact cameras.
@Paul Takes Photos my first fuji was a x-t20, so I get it. Just want the build quality and WR of the higher priced models. I'd pay for that in the form of the X-txx and x-e series.
I love the content but don't worry about trying to keep our attention by flipping the room around and zooming in and out it's just giving me sea sickness
I personally prefer the XT4 screen, not because it articulates fully but I can hide it and use my viewfinder like a real photographer and not rely on a screen.

I’m new to digital photography, is the 27mm lens not the same thing as a 15-45mm lens? Or is it a special adapter needed?
@Chloe-to7my no the 27mm is a lens wwith a fixed field of view. The 15_45mm is a zoom lens (from wide to narrow view)
Where can you buy the camera?
@@friendhernandez488 in the US and Canada it seems to be sold out l, rest of the world it is still available. Depends where you are based. Used market is an option although it is pricey
@PaulTakesPhotos do they restock ?
@@PaulTakesPhotosI’m new to photography. Couple days ago decided I want to buy a camera and just start taking photos. Hopefully they can restock soon.
@@PaulTakesPhotos Probably the 35mm. The video I mentioned above was the 18-55 kit lens.
The whole video was done with that camera?!

Congrats and welcome to the Fujifilm family :)
How do you feel about this camera now that you’ve had it for about a year now???
I don't mind fixed lenses on cameras but i also at times, like you, that it is posses a restriction and x100v if you add a lens hood it becomes very much bulky and difficult to carry in your pocket
Which lens(es) do you shoot with?
I agree that the easy of use combined with reasonably affordable lenses make.xt30ii a great and above all fun photography experience
With regards to my statement comparing the xt30ii with the xt-4 i was referring to the main features (sensor, af, film sims etc) but i didn't articulate it well enough :/ thanks for highlighting it
I bought this camera few days back and i bought it for video and good stills.... Got it for great price in India
Loved it... Best purchase
Awesome! In my view the XS-10 and XT30ii are simply underappreciated and provide great experiences for photographers who'd also provide video services.
Going to test it now for a week with the 27mm on travel :)
@@PaulTakesPhotos ok waiting for that💜💜 also need more videos about XT 30 ii
biggest reason for me was: it was available. its great
True that!
Picking two 26 Megapixel Fujifilm cameras is a solid plan.
I have the xt-30ii and love it
I still own and I'm more than happy with my Sony A7III and I do have very expensive and good lenses for it.
Enjoy it
@@PaulTakesPhotos What lens would you recommend for street?
I have a tendency to shoot on more narrow (50-90 mm on APs-c). The channel is full with Fujifilm lens reviews.

@@PaulTakesPhotos Your favourite lens?
Would you recommend XT30 over X Pro 3? Thanks
Superb & crisp - exactly what I was looking for !!! subscribed
Thank you
Thank you for the review/video.
(100-400 or 70-300)
In my opinion the lack of IBIS can be easily solved by a tripod, It is more the AF for wildlife on Fujifilm I am not too sure about and one other thing: it is not weather sealed.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, and sharing your thoughts.@@PaulTakesPhotos
Could all you photographers get together and decide between you what we should buy? I've been looking for days to decide on a camera, only to be confused with all the various " why I bought...and why you should too"😡
How should I choose between this and the XS10? i am thinking that I need the stabilizer built in the camera for low light shooting
Xt40 will be released soon which comes most likely with ibis
Hi Paul! maybe I missed this in your video - what is the lease you have with this camera?
You are right it is missing as I bought it out right :) for lease plans it is difficult to advise as it varies from country to country.
I have the sony a6700 with a bunch of lenses but I'm hunting for a fuji camera for a while now. I'm thinking to get this one instead of the 100vi.
That would be a wise choice. Fujifilm x100v with interchangable lenses. 27mm/16mm/18mm/56mm/90mm
@Sep 23 even after xs20, still best buy for photo centric

I'd prefer an interchangable lens camera but a little rangefinder has its charms too. Keep them both

Cameras come and go, but we marry out lenses
between the xt20 and this one, do you think there is a big gap ?
Biggest differences are in autofocus system, facial tracking and build quality. The thumb rest on the xt20 has a habit of getting lose or fallen of. In terms of image quality both are excellent
@@PaulTakesPhotos in built quality ? What is really different ? Like I’ve been told that there was the same
I'm thinking about getting it, I'm a beginner and also considering the XS10 because IBIS
Biggest difference between the both is: XS10 is designed as a hybrid camera. XT30i is designed as a photocentric camera with video capabilities
Great video! Thank you. I’ve tried X-E3 and X-100v and hated them. I need tilt screen for street photography. Thanks for your review I’m now attracted to X-T30II.

Love your explanation, btw i want to buy fujifilm xt100, is it still good for newbies in 2023? Or any recomendation? Thx

Good way of describing my experience with the x100V 👍 pixii is an interesting choice. Make sure you keep me updated. Unique experience it seems
Hi. I only do photography. Which one is better. Mark ii or xs10?
Both share the same sensor and profiles. XT30Ii is photography centric where the XS10 is more of hybrid camera. I prefer the XT30ii. The XS-20:is about the be released so the xs-10 will probably drop in price. Regardless in terms of basic features your can't go wrong on either of them
I want to try and start photography as like a hobby and photograph nature/landscapes is this a good camera for that
Yes it is but it is not weather sealed.
What if i upgrade from xt100 .. will af be better? And can i use my godox flash on it?
I can't tell you if you are better off. I can provide the following which compares the specs of both cameras cameradecision.com/compare/Fujifilm-X-T30-II-vs-Fujifilm-X-T100
And yes your godox flash will work.

I would not be able to compare with the canon R50 as I never shot with that camera.
I would advise you to rent both cameras so you can determine which one is for you
@@PaulTakesPhotos thanks!

Good question I have never used the option but will come back. Gives me a new little thing to do

Yes it is an excellent camera for beginners as it allows your wife to become a seasoned photographer without having to change cameras.
I do have a small tutorial on the channel detailing my settings.
Tip for a beginner. Shoot in Auto at the start and test the film Sims.
Does the Fujifilm X-T30 II feel lighter with a carrying strap?
It feels more balanced. If you use a grip without a strap you'll feel it after an hour on your fingers. That aside strap means easy quick access 😉
Great feedback . I do agree that the time I spend on film sims on the xt30ii is a lot more than on my XT2
@@PaulTakesPhotos curious what makes you say that? Same sensor and processor right? Ibis is useful for low light
What do you think about the XS-20
Is this better than Sony a6400 for videography?
XT30ii has video capabilities but there is a recording limit and no IBIS, no weather sealing and small battery. Best bet would be XT4 or XS20
By lens error you mean the display message "storing"?
@@PaulTakesPhotos Hi Paul, I came across the same problem with an XT30. This is precisely the same problem I have with my T20, and if you do some Google work, you will find out more about the issue and how silent Fujinis about this. Fuji is unable to identify the root cause of the problem. It was there with XT20 and XT30 and probably still with the XT30II.
When switching the camera, the screen starts flashing on/off ending up with a lens error. Tried many things including different lens.

@@aynurturgut-bingol5258 That's strange. I don't think I've ever had that message on my X-T30. Maybe once when the lens wasn't fully twisted onto the mount. Great camera though and I was asked if it was a film camera, as people mention with this camera.
How is the battery life?
Decent but not magical. 300-350 shots.
I also have an A7III and four lenses, I was looking at Fuji as I am attracted to the film simulations as I just shoot jpegs now. The X100v was attractive but not available, so I was looking at the X-T20 used. Do you think it's better to pay the extra and go for the new X-T20ii.
There is the XT30ii the XT20ii doesn't exist.
That said they seem to be in short supply at the moment. Worth considering are the XT3 or XE3/4
Just picked up a brand new no box zero shutter black X-T30II for $500 on Offer-Up! What a beauty!
Wow congratulations! That is a magnificent deal
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thanks. I shoot professionally with my X-H2. Now my new X-T30ii can be my fun camera!
@Clodrock do you use the XH2 for video or photography? That camera intrigues me, but it is the size that I don't like.
I’m adding this to my wishlist. How’s the film simulation? Is it similar to to the T4,E4 and 100v?
Exactly the same film sims are available on the camera as on the xt4, x100v and xe4
Fuji film needs to make it so you can disable the quick start menu button
I have the same grip as yours but in the black configuration, XT30 2 is my first interchangeable lens camera , I replaced the 15-45 in the kit with a prime Fujifilm XF 33mm 1.4 R LM WR and I'm super happy with it. With the same total budget I could have gotten a body only XT5 (plus ibis&WR) but not a good lens.
We marry our lenses, cameras come and go.
Better invest in lenses, smart choice. Enjoy the XT30II it won't disappoint
One day probably I would get one of the Fujis you've described . Thank you again!!
I’m new in photography and I’m deciding whether I should start with a6400 or xt30ii. I wanna do landscape and street
Did you consider xs-20?
I did consider it, but decided not to act on it.
I could consider and xt50
The xs10 is the same price as this camera would you recommend that one? I’m not a fan of the screen & all together style though.
If you look at the features it is identical as the xt30mII and xt4/v and you are right the form factor etc is not as appealing
I sold my X-S10 for this X-T30II. For photo its a better camera, better screen and other features.
Just found your channel, enjoying this! I subbed :)
Thank you! Very much appreciated. If any questions please let me know
Great review! Can you tell us the the exact model of the cage you are using with the XT-30 II on the video, I would like getting the same for myself ?
Full review and the accessories are included in the review. I don't have the camera with me at the moment that is the main reason I can't give you the full name and number
What Cage is that? Great video btw.
Id suggest you check out the xpro1 or xpro2 on the used market or XT10
I bought few months ago the XT30ll and everything were super. From yesterday something…went wrong…explain,I’m using the auto mode setting manually the f stop, suddenly the rotation button when I turn it it doesn’t change the f stop, staysto the minimum lens stop.please can anyone tell me we’re is the problem…

A6400 sony or fuji xt30 ii?
No winner not loser between them. Depends on your preferences and experiences.

Do I need ibis as a beginner? /:
Ibis is usefull for video and if you shooting at Lowe shutter speeds. I'd recommend you to buy a lens with IBIS (for instance 18-55mm kit lens).
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thank you! This was helpful I appreciate it! Great video by the way!
What is the minimum shutter speed of XT30 ii?
In electronic shutter mode 1.5secs
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thank you
XT30II doesn't have IBIS.
Learned something again at the tender age of 50 👍😃📸
Not having IBIS is a big reason to get this camera, don’t need or want IBIS, some of us know how to use a camera properly🤷♂️
If you really want the hybrid experience i d suggest you check out the XS10
The other cameras I only find them at 1000 and this one its 200 euros less, which is what I can afford, and since I'm more video focused the features are worth it
@@PaulTakesPhotos also, the pictures that xs-10 look amazing too so honestly I'm not even worried about it.
A store near me has a XT-30ii with a 18-55mm kit lens (apparently really good lens for 1400€) Is that too much for xt30?
The XS-20 has a lot going for it. xS10 is a great camera as well
When it comes to lenses, I'd always go for the 18-55mm to start with as it comes with stabilization (XT30II doesn't have IBS).
Is that the 18-55 with ois? Is that a weather resistant lens?
It is indeed the lens and no it is not weather resistant. The WR versions are very expensive and i only own one 90mm with again no IOS.
I can’t wait to get mine once it’s ships out!!😊
So it is still available in your area? Excellent!i am sure you will love ot. Stay tuned for a more.indepth review and tutorials.coming.up
There is something that keeps me away from xt30ii is that it has no image stabilizer I going with xs10. I don't care what others say. I not fujifilm shoter, so I need a camera for travel only
You might want to consider the Fujifilm XT4. Bargain in used market as most people don't like the flip screen but you get weather sealing and ibis

Sony is a hybrid camera. XT30ii is aimed at photographers who use at time video features.
Both are excellent cameras
@@PaulTakesPhotos XT 30ii or Sony A6600 or XT -3 or XS20. Which you would recommend for a beginner?

Not at the time of recording. But a mind boggling decision or maybe xe-5 is coming
#1 reason... it's the only one available left....fujifilm marketing went disgusting in 2023...all thanks to the failure of the T4...
Fuji get things right. Update the x70 and make it complete with ricoh gr iii...and make sure the bounce flash pop up is there.

The x70mII would be a hit in my opinion. Not sure what you meant by clickbait?
@Paul Takes Photos trending topics on YT, no offense to you...byproduct of the YT spellcast... fuji made a mistake in prioritizing video/Sony Market in one year's sprint.
