- I spend a day exploring and eating in Chicago’s Chinatown. I first have coffee and a donut at From Here On Food Hall at the Old Post Office. Then I walk to Chinatown. Next, I have lunch at one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood, MingHin Cuisine. After that, I walk around and see some of the sites including the Chinatown Square Zodiac statues. Then I visit Chiu Quon Bakery & Dim Sum to purchase egg tarts and a moon cake. Then I get a drink at Te'amo Boba Bar. Finally, I walk around the beautiful Ping Tom Memorial Park.

About Me:
I live in NYC and I’m about food, travel and work.
Great video of Chinatown. Keep the footage coming!
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
The Chitown Chinatown looks so much cooler than NYC or Flushing
Yeah, Chicago's Chinatown has a great look to it, but I think Flushing has way better food.
@@Jamesnu on average for sure, but there's a lot of newer places in Chicago (not all in Chinatown) that are on the same or similar level. Started changing a handful of years ago really. Next time go to Dongpo Impression too for good Sichuan food if you like that. Only other place I've had to not hold back the spice was Szechuan Mountain House in Flushing. Also can't pass up QXY for dumplings.
@@MR-ml2po Absolutely! Thanks for the recommendations! I just looked up Dongpo and they've got a good looking menu. I'll definitely have to check it out sometime. I've actually been to QXY and you're right. Great spot for dumplings!
Another great video James
Good to see you back home in Chicago
I didn’t make it to Chinatown when I was in Chicago but it’s on my list for my next visit
Thank you! Yeah, Chicago's Chinatown is definitely worth visiting. It's really easy to get to from downtown.
It’s really easy to get to by public transportation if you have no car
1:38 Oh my gosh you brought back memories! I was a background actor for the Dark Knight back in 2010 and I spent much of my downtime in that hallway. Nice to know the building was renovated! Now I need to go back and check it out.
Thanks a lot for your recommendations. Currently on a Chicago Chinatown UA-cam binge as I plan to go there one day again!
That's awesome! Yeah, the old post office is such a beautiful building and I was really impressed with their renovations. I hope you enjoy Chicago's Chinatown! It really is a nice place!
MingHin is AMAZING! I've been over 20 times and have even sat in the same booth as you XD Glad you enjoyed!
It's a great restaurant! I definitely want to go back the next time I'm in Chicago.
Thank you for sharing. I will visit it next time I hit town. I took a look at the location via google maps and what is wild is my Grand Mother used to live in walking distance, but we never went to China Town. I think it is because it was in an odd location relative to where she lived. Also, I think it was because by my house we had one of the best Chinese restaurants on the planet! Peace and Light .. Have a Great One ..
Thanks for watching! Chinatown has really evolved and expanded over the years and is definitely worth visiting these days.
I really enjoyed "Rules of Civility." Though not as absorbing as "Gentleman," the main character is her own person, and the author successfully transported me to that "Gatsby" kind of world. The author always has me stopping to re-read sentences and paragraphs because of their poignancy and crafted beauty. I couldn't get through "Lincoln Highway," just detested each character. But many friends, whom I look up to, just loved the book. Going to give it another try.
I definitely got those "Gatsby" vibes from the book. I just loved the descriptions and feel of the story, but I did enjoy "A Gentleman in Moscow" more. I've heard similar reactions to "Lincoln Highway." I do plan to read it eventually and hope for the best with that one. Still, I think Amor Towles is a great writer and I'm eager to see what he will produce in the future.
I love Paris Baguette so will go there on my next visit. I want to eat Minghin Restraunt last year we ate at Triple Crown was so good last visit didnt have much time to explore area last trip plan on really exploring next trip in Dec.
I went to Triple Crown once and really enjoyed it. I think you'll really like MingHin. The menu is so big you're bound to find something to enjoy.
Chicago Chinatown seems way cleaner than NYC Chinatown !! haha
Haha! Yeah, that's one advantage Chicago has over NYC, it's generally much cleaner!
There is a water taxi from Ping Tom park straight to Downtown.
I've seen it, but I've never taken it. That would definitely be a nice and scenic way to travel to Chinatown!
Chiu Quon is a good choice
It's a great bakery! I really enjoyed the food I got from there!
Have you ever tried Seven Treasure restaurant in Chicago chinatown? Their roast duck is the best
Unfortunately I haven't, but I've heard good things about the spot. I'll be sure to try their roast duck if I get the chance. Thanks for the recommendation!
Lol hot tea goes with Chinese Food!
Indeed! But it was a pretty hot day and that crab was pretty salty.
@@Jamesnu more electrolytes
@@NoahEats Indeed!
Thank you .. I am from Chicago and I honestly do Not remember China town ... @1:09 Let's see if you video jogs my memory! I will let you know at the end of the Vid
Thanks for watching! I hope it brings back some memories!
I see your point. If you’re from Chicago and don’t know Chinatown that’s actually kind of normal in my opinion. I grew up in Philadelphia and none of my friends ever visited Philly’s Chinatown or any Asian spots except for Americanized Chinese food places.
I like the haircut
Thanks! I really needed it!
You went to Chinese restaurant and ordered "egg" ???
Yes, an egg tart. A very popular dessert in China.
@@Jamesnu not egg tart, you were eating omelette in the video
@@musicful7036 Oh yeah. That's because I never saw one with bitter melon before and I wanted to try it.
It's always a shame when my melons look stricken with leprosy.
It's not the best look for food.
Very Masculine!
Absolutely! I love a good pink heart on my drinks.
I´m so glad they finally combined tea and coffee... had this idea a long time ago but everyone thought I have lost my mind...🫖☕
Two great things in one! There really should be more coffee and tea combo drinks!
It actually is a very popular drink in Hong Kong. The taste is strong but delicious!
