It is totally different when you say something about yourself rather than someone taking the time to write it to you..the only thing that made me sure about it being fake was the serial number..I never had/held a Celine....quality with many brands has been going down...was in a Louis Vuitton store(not second hand and stores don't accept returns in Japan) and a wallet looked like it said made in Prance cuz the stamping was so wonky...again it was an invite-only auction and I know it is not unheard of to get an amazing price...watched a youtuber who got a Birkin for $300..way crazier than a Celine for that price..you know I would have thought the same as you but Japan is different..I would never even use eBay..Japan is the place where you get lost wallets, laptops, bags, whatever returned to you in perfect condition..I forget the ridiculous amount of loose cash that was turned into the police last year..it gave me a false sense of safety..didnt meant be rude but feel like I keep repeating myself and it is just a different world here...anyway its done..i won't do it again..hopefully

Wow. Amazing comment. You’re absolutely right. If it makes you feel good, nothing else should matter. It just didn’t make me feel good. Luckily I could return it which is rare in Japan. Many places don’t accept returns.
Sorry that happened. I couldn't tell it was fake. Also sometimes things can go for crazy prices at auctions. Also it was endorsed by a bank for it's customers so that would have made me feel more certain about it. Because selling fakes is a reflection on the bank reputation, customer care and security and authenticity procedures I would not have thought a fake would get in.
For the price that you paid I have to say it was a real good quality replica bag. I've heard that some of the replica bags are so close to the real ones because some are stolen from the actual manufacturers warehouses, so there for it might be made with the same materials and patterns of the "real bag". Also as mentioned by the other comments designer goods have to be so impeccably perfect that when there is a ever a minor flaw on a product they discard it, and this damaged items can be recovered by a worker and sold as a "real bag" on the black market such as auctions. With this said owning a " real bag" might just be just a matter of ethics.
I own a real Celine and I must say that's a pretty good fake. ps.. your speech is rather dragging - I was quite exhausted by the time I reached the end. Better luck with bags next time.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I too won a auction on EBay for a pre-owned Celine for $900.00. The sellers comments were good etc. When I received the bag I had the same feeling as you that something was off. I am a powerseller on EBay so after checking and getting the bag authenticated. I contacted the seller and simply said the bag was a replica and with no argument the payment was refunded to me through PayPal. Lesson learned for me with such a high end purchase I will always purchase from a authentic Retail store.

I am still not giving up on second hand (otherwise I will not be able to buy anything). I will; however, stay away from auctions. I think some well known sites like fashion phile are good. And I have had good experiences buying second hand in Tokyo at Komehyo and Daikokuya. Totally worth the trip to Japan!! Hope there are plenty of authentic designer bags in our future!!

I've watched several videos about authenticating celibe bag. Almost all of them mentioned suede lining is fake while leather lining is real. But I've learnt from Danielle that's not always the rule. I only purchase from the flagship stores only, because in Asia(all the countries) has a fake market of every designer name known to Westerners with a cheap price under $300 which should have told you it was a FAKE.

I have just been on a french girl's blog , she got her Celine Handbag in 2013 and paid 1800 euros in a luxury shop in Perpignan, let 's mention, an other girl paid 1700 euro for it, one year before,from the Celine Cannes shop ; they say there is a huge increase on prices every year for luxury items! you must expect at least 100 euros per year!! without any explanation!! Just demand! Anyway just hope you will get soon what you really like, just buy what you want, and have the pleasure of wearing it !!

To avoid fake bag is easy! Just buy it in concept store with the real price full stop. If buying with such a low price hoping its real hmmmm it just doesnt feel right. Buying luxury bag to get luxury feeling is by spending "luxury" price. Hope you won't fall for this kind of deal anymore in the future, unless you just want a fake bag.
Novielia Eaton You have a point and I would love to walk into any shop and be able to buy whatever I wanted, but that is just not realistic for me. And not realistic for lots of people. Does that mean we shouldn't get to own any luxury goods? I watched a video on youtube where a woman got fake Louboutins at a famous department store because someone else had returned a "good" fake. I was in Louis Vuitton last month and saw how the real items there had obvious imperfections. I have gotten 2 great deals so far on 2nd hand items. One was ¥91,000 and the other ¥350,000. Those are luxury prices to me! They were both in perfect condition. There are a good amount of reputable 2nd hand shops. I absolutely made a mistake in bidding in this auction for this fake Celine. Auctions make you act a little crazy, I think. People make decisions they would not normally make if there wasn't a clock ticking down. Now I am in search of a Chanel boy bag in a certain color and it is no longer being sold in stores. Lots of brands keep increasing their prices and I just can't keep up. +Jas Mine not necessarily in an auction. If I were to sell a real Celine to a second hand shop, I doubt I'd get all that much for it. They'd have no problem marking it by an obscene amount though. But they have a lot of overhead to pay for if they have an actual store. Think they can afford to sell it for less on the Internet. Plus it's a bag that many people consider to be overplayed. I don't think Celines hold their value like Chanel and Hermes. But the main reason I thought it would be real was the Rakuten name. I shop at a store called Rinkan Rakuten and they guarantee authenticity. I thought all Rakuten sellers would be under the same obligation. Had it been eBay, I never would have believed it. I did watch a video where someone got a Birkin for 300 bucks (on eBay I think)and sold it to a store for $5000. I think a Celine at $300 seems way more plausible.
The serial number is not fake. It's made in second week of January 2010, the initial year of production. I've seen pictures of bags made in 2010 and it look pretty similar to what you're saying, so the bag could be real. Initial bags were little different and Lampo zippers were used in 2010-2011. Also the back supposed to be higher than front. You need to put hands from front side, not from the back.
Fab! It's difficult to tell online if they look real or not. I'm a LV fan and up Close they're easy to spot but on line even they are hard. Lesson learned, if it's too good to be true & all that. I'm looking at a LV on EBay but worried it'll be fake. They have a receipt but won't send it with the item. Hmmmm.
I'm pretty sure it retails for closer to $3,000 and ¥270,000 would actually be around $2,500. I paid no where near that at ¥27,000. Did you watch the video or read any comments? Thought I explained why I thought it was real but I'll say it again. It was an auction It was invite only It is a reputable company or so I thought The seller's reviews were good It's Japan - meaning it is relatively safe and I let that cloud my judgement. I also bought a second hand Chanel wallet for 1/10 of the price that it sells for used. The whole reason to shop at an auction is cuz the prices are low or it can't be found anywhere else. Clearly I was in the first category. Check out a fab youtuber named Charles Gross. He bought a Birkin for $300 on eBay. Do you know how much they go for?! One of the biggest reason to believe hat auction was for real is that Japanese culture is traditionally very trusting. Rarely wild you see Japanese people or businesses doing stuff like this.

I think you are the nice one thinking that but it's their job. I don't think they care. Plus I asked them if they could tell me if it's real, not how much would you give me for it. They said to give them 10 to 15 minutes. They came back and said they didn't know. They definitely don't feel bad about offering a tiny fraction of the cost of a bag you do want to sell, then marking it up like crazy in their store.
Sometimes sellers have really good deals but if it`s really far from the normal selling price it raises a red flag. But here where i live there are actually people who sell replicas and they look really close but you can tell they arent real through the texture and the feel of it. The replicas are stiffer and what not. Personally i think it isnt wrong to want things but we all have to live within our means. And designer stuff is sometimes ridiculous if bought brand new. Especially when prices increase. The safest way is to actually just save up for it and buy from the store. Or get it from reliable second hand shops. I believe hong kong has plenty of those :)
I hear you, but stranger things have happened. It was a kind of "secret" auction. No one else was bidding and I (stupidly and naively) thought I got lucky. I relied heavily on the numerous positive feedback on that seller...not one negative. And yeah it's fake and not just because of the price, but because of all the reasons I mentioned. Another tips danielle, try check the zipper of the bag, if it real it should have a small number at the side of the zipper such as 8 etc, but the back of the zipper should be plain.
There are those one in a million times you do get lucky. I had shopped at another store in person called Rinkan Rakuten. This site was through Rakuten. I thought they were all related and guaranteed authenticity like the shop I go to. ...but yeah usually too good to be true is just that.
They have some really nice Celine replicas,the one I'm going to get doesn't even have the name on it. I'd never pay 1k for a bag, at least not anytime soon.
these bags are not cheaper in France, and given they are quite new on the market you may still pay a lot for it if you really want a genuine Celine Bag; the alternative would be to go on aliexpress, some chinese manufacturers sell excellent stuff, and some of the article sold there can be very good, and quite pricey too! Anyway, when LVMH says all these articles are counterfeited, it is not really the case given a lot of chinese manufacturers work for luxury French designers, a lot of what you think is made in France is in fact made in Roumania, China, North Korea, and India !!! for me if they declare it is french made while it is done out of our frontiers , it is a counterfeit article!! even if it is the genuine brand!! So do no be ashamed of yourself , buy what you want!! and enjoy!!

It was a special invite-only auction and I figured they could just be starting the auction low and it will eventually be a more believable price. The handle and the lettering gives it away. I own one of these bags. As beautiful as it is it's really heavy and a pain in the ass to carry lol. This is the reason why I would never purchased any designer bags unless it's directly from the boutique or a high end department store.
Never understood why people buy designer goods on random sites including Ebay. If you want to by an authentic product, purchase at Net-a-Porter, Farfetch, Barneys and all those big luxury online stores.
+Tash Kash same here! i'd be too scared to buy pre-loved or brand new designer bags on ebay (and the like) for fear of getting a fake. the only credible site here in europe that sells pre-loved designer clothes, shoes and bags is vestiaire collective for they pass through an authenticating team (VS requires every seller to send the items to VS for authentication first before VS sends it out to the buyer).
Cause eBay has incredible deals! Not everyone out there sells fake, there are some genuine people out there. If people do their research, they can make amazing deals! :)

Yh that's true, when I buy on eBay, I check the sellers feedback percentage and I look to see if they have any other listings. I guess, it reassures me, the more genuine items they have/or may be selling, the likely I am to trust them. Then I message loads of questions about the item. eBay also has buyer protection, so if the item is fake, you get your money back. Sorry to hear about your bad experience though. eBay currently has a few genuine célines going for sale if you're interested, but check the item codes, pics, etc... X

You know sometimes you get to believe they are true even when you know they are fake. I saw a michael Kors bag 300$ on one website was listed at 50$ and was about to buy them. I just gave a thought to it and read the comments and reviews which said it was fake. I just backed out. Now I try to buy at stores like Macy's or from their websites directly . Though I spend little more money I know i m not getting fakes .

The price being so low would have made me think it is a fake, but as far as fakes go it still looks nice. I think the bag could pass in public if it wasn't for the straps. The other stuff most people will not get close enough to the bag or see the inside of the bag to be able to see any difference. That may be why the seller had good reviews.

I am french, and i can tell you for the price you paid you got a really nice bag! It may be a fake but a very nice one, and on top of it , paying 4000 dollars for a Celine bag is a real scam!! not a single handbag should be worth that price given the way they pay their employees, and manufacturers, mostly you pay for the adverts, and marketings rules. Honestly , you may be disapointed but you paid a decent price for a decent article!

hey, so smooth leather Celine bags have leather insides where the pebbled ones have the micro suede. The little tab on the back is not meant for anything, some people just put sunglasses back there. Which size do you have? also celine bags don't come with authenticity cards, so the only way to 100% be assured that you have a celine bag is you buy one from a Celine store. How heavy is it?

They are rather heavy. It is about the weight of my Chanel classic flap in caviar. I have the metallic blue smooth tri-colored leather in micro. I bought it in Paris for 1900 euros and saved some money that way. I absolutely love the bag and even when people say they're out of style (maybe already there?) I will love it. It does show scratches and is not taken out in the rain, but it is fun and a great bag. I would go new or lightly used because the drummed slouches a great deal with use and the smooth gets scratches. One of the main reasons I chose smooth was that the inside is all leather where as the inside of the drummed is not leather. They are the same price, but tri-colored are more. First off you are not stupid for purchasing a replica bag that you thought & was sold to you as authentic. Also, I have seen a trend with this in luxury bags whether it be Celine', Louis Vuitton etc. that sometimes authentication can be very difficult. Although manufactured the same, Louis Vuitton for example each bag may have slight differences, in stitching etc. also a bag made in 2008 may have differences than one made in 2015. Date codes are also up for debate, because a replica can have a date code that was made up, but if it's dated right will seem like the real thing. I saw a replica vs authentic, and the authentic had a few cosmetic errors that the replica did not, so the replica was even more polished than the original authentic one lol. The replicas are so good now, that it can be really tough to identify the fakes from the real ones. With Celine, it's even more difficult because they only make so many of each bag and they have such a variation in texture, color, sizes etc. I wouldn't go by the price, because there are scammers who will sell a super replica for $2,000 (so paying regular or high price for a bag) does not guarantee it is going to be the real thing. I even have a issue with sites that sell "authentic" "pre loved" items. I'm not saying they are not authentic, but the only way to guarantee and item you purchase is authentic is to buy it directly from the store, or official website. that way there is no questions. Even if you have to save your money and then buy it, it's that much more worth it.

I was in Louis Vuitton looking at a men's card case as a gift and all 3 that they had had some defect-like the Louis Vuitton made in France looked totally off and unclear. But yet I still want their stuff knowing it may not be. I got into youtube cuz I wanted to know how to know if a Chanel is real. One of the first things they said was to check the print or the stamp(is that what it is called?). They said it should be perfect and that Chanel or LV or Hermes would "never" have an imperfection. I have no problem with a fake as long as they aren't claiming to be the real thing, i.e. using the logo or name of the real thing. I bought a fake that looks like a Celine luggage bag, but does NOT have the Celine name on it. Nobody cares (even me)! My fake is leather, color block in bright colors. I get many compliments on it, and I just love it! All of my Coach bags, and Michael Kors bags are real.
I don't know if I would even consider that fake then..Stores/designers have similar/same designs all the time. Forever 21 has EXACTLY the same same designs as Chanel, Celine, whoever... I think that is OK too!

I really hoped that since it was an invite only private auction that maybe I could possibly get an unbelievable deal..I have never bid on an auction but the few I have seen started out way under value but quickly went up. Glad you recognised good 2nd hand stores. I don't think I should not be able to have something because brand new is out of my price range and if I am willing to have slight wear on the bag. There are great 2nd hand shops in Tokyo too and I will definitely stick with them from now on!!

Ally Ng The store where I bought my bag is tiny and doesn't have a big selection but I go often to check if they have anything new. At the other 2nd hand shops, the Celines aren't far off the original price. I will not give up!!
It is always annoying to found out you bought something fake. I ordered a pair of Converse, which I later on realized was fake. I had my suspicion when I got the package and the tag was missing, and the converse stickers were kinda uneven. I also payed close to full price (they're more expensive in Sweden than in the US), so it kinda sucks. Though it's nothing compared to the price you paid for your bag, however, it always sucks to tricked like that. Especially when you have an interest for authentic real brand stuff. Because I'd rather have a few of the real things than a lot of cheap fake stuff.

Totally. That company (Rakuten) was in the newspaper a few months ago cuz there were a ton of fake reviews on their site. You can't trust anyone. :( I always look to reviews for lots of different purchases.

I've done that before with Chanel shoes on eBay from highly rated sellers. I got them, authenticated them, found out they were fake and returned them (the person swore up and down that it was a real pair of Chanel but they would refund me because they want me to be happy). They even gave me a coupon to buy from them again...pffff. Happy you got your money back! (You say "right" way too many times :)- sorry had to say it :))

A first clue that the bag is fake is the price, $300.00 vs $3,000.00 . Your not stupid for buying it, you got a super fake, premium fake.but keep looking you will find the real one someday, but your not going to pay $300.00 for it
It has been done though. I know it's rare but it's possible especially in an auction. I thought Rakuten was a site I could trust like Yoogi's Closet or fashion phile.. There's a small shop in Tokyo with the same name that guarantees their items. Thought it was the same ..Biggest problem was I didn't know if it definitely was a fake or not as I've never had a luggage tote. Oh well.. At least it was easy enough to return and get a refund. I got fooled the same way with a Louis Vuitton bag and it was fake...plus I had to pay $38 for customs to receive it once I went to pick it up at the post office. I was so disappointed!

Typically I would agree without a doubt. Just thought Rakuten was a very reliable company and I believed positive reviews. They were in Japanese so can't say I understood perfectly but my husband checked and said they all looked good. Plus it was an invite only auction. $300 is unlikely but not impossible. A youtuber I often watch got a Birkin for $300!! Birkins go for $10,000 to ¥20,000 used. Way crazier than getting a $300 Celine. Anyway thanks for watching and commenting.

Danielle CK actually you're right.. I once lost my brand new pair of ray ban sunglasses. The clubmasters. I collect ray bans and know which are authentic and which are replicas.. I went on ebay and found a college kid selling some for 50$.. I initially thought they were replicas because of the low cost. I messaged him and he insisted they were authentic. I offered him 30$ and he agreed.. When I received them I was happy to see that they were authentic, and brand new! I got lucky on that one.. Saved almost 200$

I know in Japan they do have these authentic designer items, thus if you purchased this from Japan, I believe there might be some way you can sue them, since Japan has very strict law to against replica productions. Sounds like a very good fake- stitching looks very even too. The shopkeepers probably cannot give you an answer as they don't specialize in Celine bags, and even legitimate stores like LV will not give you a solid answer as the fakes floating out there are so realistic. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell if you were walking down the street with it. I'd think it was real.
+Eggs Ham I just didn't like not knowing. And a couple people on here said they could spot that it was fake right away....questionable but who knows. The shop I went to is quite small but they have signs that say you can sell your stuff there and that they are looking for certain pieces. I haven't seen anything where they say they have to send it out to be authenticated nor did they mention that. Plus they took it to the back and said it'd be about 10 to 15 minutes to check it out. But you are totally right, I don't think anyone there could really authenticate. They couldn't give me an answer cuz I didn't have a receipt...!!???...I should have just gone home and made one. I'm working on not saying it. Think I say it a lot cuz people in japan don't always answer or show signs that they are listening, so to get some kind of response, I say it a lot. Need to make some kind of electric shock bracelet to zap me every time I say it.
You could have called Celine Customer Care Service and asked them or your best bet would've just been getting one that is pre-loved for less at any retail store that sells them or pay full price of the bag to avoid these kind of stuff. I know they're pretty expensive but they're really worth it and do last for a while. I'm sorry about the whole thing. :-( I would've been so angry too.
I did put it on the purse forum. The women said it seemed off but needed more pics. But then I found the site that said my serial number was fake. So I sent it back and very luckily got my money back. I'm definitely going to stick to the 2nd hand shops I know here in Tokyo and hopefully someday I'll be able to buy it full price in the actual store. I'm actually leaning to the trapeze now. Well thank goodness to that ! :-) I would've gone mad if they hadn't return my money or anything but pre-loved bags aren't that bad and it does save you some money. The Trapeze bag is actually really nice and under appreciated. The suedes on that bag are just so beautiful, especially in the natural colours.
I just watched a review that said the trapeze was a bit hard to get into..With my last 3 purchases being the Chanel double flap, Chloe paraty, and LV speedy..ALL hard to get into, I really want an easy bag..Are there even any easy designer bags?! Sorry that happened. I couldn't tell it was fake. Also sometimes things can go for crazy prices at auctions. Also it was endorsed by a bank for it's customers so that would have made me feel more certain about it. Because selling fakes is a reflection on the bank reputation, customer care and security and authenticity procedures I would not have thought a fake would get in.

For the price that you paid I have to say it was a real good quality replica bag. I've heard that some of the replica bags are so close to the real ones because some are stolen from the actual manufacturers warehouses, so there for it might be made with the same materials and patterns of the "real bag".
Also as mentioned by the other comments designer goods have to be so impeccably perfect that when there is a ever a minor flaw on a product they discard it, and this damaged items can be recovered by a worker and sold as a "real bag" on the black market such as auctions. With this said owning a " real bag" might just be just a matter of ethics.
I own a real Celine and I must say that's a pretty good fake. ps.. your speech is rather dragging - I was quite exhausted by the time I reached the end. Better luck with bags next time.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I too won a auction on EBay for a pre-owned Celine for $900.00. The sellers comments were good etc. When I received the bag I had the same feeling as you that something was off. I am a powerseller on EBay so after checking and getting the bag authenticated. I contacted the seller and simply said the bag was a replica and with no argument the payment was refunded to me through PayPal. Lesson learned for me with such a high end purchase I will always purchase from a authentic Retail store.
So sorry that happened to you and so glad you got your money back!! I was a bit delusional thinking I could get a Celine bag so cheap. But 900 dollars seems much more likely for it to be real. I am still not giving up on second hand (otherwise I will not be able to buy anything). I will; however, stay away from auctions. I think some well known sites like fashion phile are good. And I have had good experiences buying second hand in Tokyo at Komehyo and Daikokuya. Totally worth the trip to Japan!! Hope there are plenty of authentic designer bags in our future!!

To avoid fake bag is easy! Just buy it in concept store with the real price full stop. If buying with such a low price hoping its real hmmmm it just doesnt feel right. Buying luxury bag to get luxury feeling is by spending "luxury" price. Hope you won't fall for this kind of deal anymore in the future, unless you just want a fake bag.
Novielia Eaton You have a point and I would love to walk into any shop and be able to buy whatever I wanted, but that is just not realistic for me. And not realistic for lots of people. Does that mean we shouldn't get to own any luxury goods? I watched a video on youtube where a woman got fake Louboutins at a famous department store because someone else had returned a "good" fake. I was in Louis Vuitton last month and saw how the real items there had obvious imperfections. I have gotten 2 great deals so far on 2nd hand items. One was ¥91,000 and the other ¥350,000. Those are luxury prices to me! They were both in perfect condition. There are a good amount of reputable 2nd hand shops. I absolutely made a mistake in bidding in this auction for this fake Celine. Auctions make you act a little crazy, I think. People make decisions they would not normally make if there wasn't a clock ticking down. Now I am in search of a Chanel boy bag in a certain color and it is no longer being sold in stores. Lots of brands keep increasing their prices and I just can't keep up. I think it's actually fun hunting down bags i want. But without a doubt, I have to be more wary. Thanks for your comment.

+Jas Mine not necessarily in an auction. If I were to sell a real Celine to a second hand shop, I doubt I'd get all that much for it. They'd have no problem marking it by an obscene amount though. But they have a lot of overhead to pay for if they have an actual store. Think they can afford to sell it for less on the Internet.
Plus it's a bag that many people consider to be overplayed. I don't think Celines hold their value like Chanel and Hermes. But the main reason I thought it would be real was the Rakuten name. I shop at a store called Rinkan Rakuten and they guarantee authenticity. I thought all Rakuten sellers would be under the same obligation. Had it been eBay, I never would have believed it.

I think a Celine at $300 seems way more plausible.
The serial number is not fake. It's made in second week of January 2010, the initial year of production. I've seen pictures of bags made in 2010 and it look pretty similar to what you're saying, so the bag could be real. Initial bags were little different and Lampo zippers were used in 2010-2011. Also the back supposed to be higher than front. You need to put hands from front side, not from the back.

I'm pretty sure it retails for closer to $3,000 and ¥270,000 would actually be around $2,500. I paid no where near that at ¥27,000. Did you watch the video or read any comments? Thought I explained why I thought it was real but I'll say it again.

Check out a fab youtuber named Charles Gross. He bought a Birkin for $300 on eBay. Do you know how much they go for?! If you found one for $10,000, that'd be "cheap".

They said to give them 10 to 15 minutes. They came back and said they didn't know. They definitely don't feel bad about offering a tiny fraction of the cost of a bag you do want to sell, then marking it up like crazy in their store.
Sometimes sellers have really good deals but if it`s really far from the normal selling price it raises a red flag. But here where i live there are actually people who sell replicas and they look really close but you can tell they arent real through the texture and the feel of it. The replicas are stiffer and what not.
Personally i think it isnt wrong to want things but we all have to live within our means. And designer stuff is sometimes ridiculous if bought brand new. Especially when prices increase. The safest way is to actually just save up for it and buy from the store. Or get it from reliable second hand shops. I believe hong kong has plenty of those :)

I hear you, but stranger things have happened. It was a kind of "secret" auction. No one else was bidding and I (stupidly and naively) thought I got lucky. I relied heavily on the numerous positive feedback on that seller...not one negative.
And yeah it's fake and not just because of the price, but because of all the reasons I mentioned. I have learned what a real luggage tote should look like. And very luckily, I got my money back. No more auctions for me.

Another tips danielle, try check the zipper of the bag, if it real it should have a small number at the side of the zipper such as 8 etc, but the back of the zipper should be plain.

There are those one in a million times you do get lucky. I had shopped at another store in person called Rinkan Rakuten. This site was through Rakuten. I thought they were all related and guaranteed authenticity like the shop I go to. ...but yeah usually too good to be true is just that.

these bags are not cheaper in France, and given they are quite new on the market you may still pay a lot for it if you really want a genuine Celine Bag; the alternative would be to go on aliexpress, some chinese manufacturers sell excellent stuff, and some of the article sold there can be very good, and quite pricey too! Anyway, when LVMH says all these articles are counterfeited, it is not really the case given a lot of chinese manufacturers work for luxury French designers, a lot of what you think is made in France is in fact made in Roumania, China, North Korea, and India !!! for me if they declare it is french made while it is done out of our frontiers , it is a counterfeit article!! even if it is the genuine brand!! So do no be ashamed of yourself , buy what you want!! and enjoy!!

They say if something seems to good to be true it usually is. A celine luggage for $300? I don't think so. I have a mini and indeed the leather is thick and luxurious with suede inside. Good luck.
I know and on a regular basis I think the same way, BUT sometimes people do get lucky. It was a special invite-only auction and I figured they could just be starting the auction low and it will eventually be a more believable price. The seller had glowing comments and with a mix of hope and stupidity, I wanted to believe I got lucky.

The handle and the lettering gives it away. I own one of these bags. As beautiful as it is it's really heavy and a pain in the ass to carry lol. This is the reason why I would never purchased any designer bags unless it's directly from the boutique or a high end department store.
Never understood why people buy designer goods on random sites including Ebay. If you want to by an authentic product, purchase at Net-a-Porter, Farfetch, Barneys and all those big luxury online stores.
+Tash Kash same here! i'd be too scared to buy pre-loved or brand new designer bags on ebay (and the like) for fear of getting a fake. the only credible site here in europe that sells pre-loved designer clothes, shoes and bags is vestiaire collective for they pass through an authenticating team (VS requires every seller to send the items to VS for authentication first before VS sends it out to the buyer).
Cause eBay has incredible deals! Not everyone out there sells fake, there are some genuine people out there. If people do their research, they can make amazing deals! :)

Yh that's true, when I buy on eBay, I check the sellers feedback percentage and I look to see if they have any other listings. I guess, it reassures me, the more genuine items they have/or may be selling, the likely I am to trust them. Then I message loads of questions about the item. eBay also has buyer protection, so if the item is fake, you get your money back. Sorry to hear about your bad experience though. eBay currently has a few genuine célines going for sale if you're interested, but check the item codes, pics, etc... X

You know sometimes you get to believe they are true even when you know they are fake. I saw a michael Kors bag 300$ on one website was listed at 50$ and was about to buy them. I just gave a thought to it and read the comments and reviews which said it was fake. I just backed out. Now I try to buy at stores like Macy's or from their websites directly . Though I spend little more money I know i m not getting fakes .

The price being so low would have made me think it is a fake, but as far as fakes go it still looks nice. I think the bag could pass in public if it wasn't for the straps. The other stuff most people will not get close enough to the bag or see the inside of the bag to be able to see any difference. That may be why the seller had good reviews.

I am french, and i can tell you for the price you paid you got a really nice bag! It may be a fake but a very nice one, and on top of it , paying 4000 dollars for a Celine bag is a real scam!! not a single handbag should be worth that price given the way they pay their employees, and manufacturers, mostly you pay for the adverts, and marketings rules. Honestly , you may be disapointed but you paid a decent price for a decent article!

hey, so smooth leather Celine bags have leather insides where the pebbled ones have the micro suede. The little tab on the back is not meant for anything, some people just put sunglasses back there. Which size do you have? also celine bags don't come with authenticity cards, so the only way to 100% be assured that you have a celine bag is you buy one from a Celine store. How heavy is it?

They are rather heavy. It is about the weight of my Chanel classic flap in caviar. I have the metallic blue smooth tri-colored leather in micro. I bought it in Paris for 1900 euros and saved some money that way. I absolutely love the bag and even when people say they're out of style (maybe already there?) I will love it. It does show scratches and is not taken out in the rain, but it is fun and a great bag. I would go new or lightly used because the drummed slouches a great deal with use and the smooth gets scratches. One of the main reasons I chose smooth was that the inside is all leather where as the inside of the drummed is not leather. They are the same price, but tri-colored are more. First off you are not stupid for purchasing a replica bag that you thought & was sold to you as authentic. Also, I have seen a trend with this in luxury bags whether it be Celine', Louis Vuitton etc. that sometimes authentication can be very difficult. Although manufactured the same, Louis Vuitton for example each bag may have slight differences, in stitching etc. also a bag made in 2008 may have differences than one made in 2015. Date codes are also up for debate, because a replica can have a date code that was made up, but if it's dated right will seem like the real thing. I saw a replica vs authentic, and the authentic had a few cosmetic errors that the replica did not, so the replica was even more polished than the original authentic one lol. The replicas are so good now, that it can be really tough to identify the fakes from the real ones. With Celine, it's even more difficult because they only make so many of each bag and they have such a variation in texture, color, sizes etc. I wouldn't go by the price, because there are scammers who will sell a super replica for $2,000 (so paying regular or high price for a bag) does not guarantee it is going to be the real thing. I even have a issue with sites that sell "authentic" "pre loved" items. I'm not saying they are not authentic, but the only way to guarantee and item you purchase is authentic is to buy it directly from the store, or official website. that way there is no questions. Even if you have to save your money and then buy it, it's that much more worth it.

Totally agree. Knowing what is authentic is definitely hard. I was in Louis Vuitton looking at a men's card case as a gift and all 3 that they had had some defect-like the Louis Vuitton made in France looked totally off and unclear. It looked like made in Prance. Wish I could just walk into these stores and pay full price..but even then you really have to inspect it.

But yet I still want their stuff knowing it may not be. I got into youtube cuz I wanted to know how to know if a Chanel is real. One of the first things they said was to check the print or the stamp(is that what it is called?). They said it should be perfect and that Chanel or LV or Hermes would "never" have an imperfection. What is wrong with me that I still want them all?! Even the staff at LV didn't notice the imperfections. I had to point them out and then they were like oh yeah these look different.

Nit picking Celine is not a fully hand made bag about 70% of the bag is hand the stamp is embossed the handles aren't high at all there about a couple inches higher than the bag the bag is not for your sunglasses although u can put sunglasses in there but those mini flaws don't make the bag fake the vest thing to do would be go to a Celine store and have them check it out

I did join after getting this bag. Sent them pics but they said it looked off and needed more pics. But by that time I found that the serial number was fake. I don't get the site-all they do is authenticate?
I have no problem with a fake as long as they aren't claiming to be the real thing, i.e. using the logo or name of the real thing. I bought a fake that looks like a Celine luggage bag, but does NOT have the Celine name on it. Nobody cares (even me)! My fake is leather, color block in bright colors. I get many compliments on it, and I just love it! All of my Coach bags, and Michael Kors bags are real.
I don't know if I would even consider that fake then..Stores/designers have similar/same designs all the time. Forever 21 has EXACTLY the same same designs as Chanel, Celine, whoever... I think that is OK too!

I really hoped that since it was an invite only private auction that maybe I could possibly get an unbelievable deal..I have never bid on an auction but the few I have seen started out way under value but quickly went up. Glad you recognised good 2nd hand stores. I don't think I should not be able to have something because brand new is out of my price range and if I am willing to have slight wear on the bag. There are great 2nd hand shops in Tokyo too and I will definitely stick with them from now on!!

It is always annoying to found out you bought something fake. I ordered a pair of Converse, which I later on realized was fake. I had my suspicion when I got the package and the tag was missing, and the converse stickers were kinda uneven. I also payed close to full price (they're more expensive in Sweden than in the US), so it kinda sucks. Though it's nothing compared to the price you paid for your bag, however, it always sucks to tricked like that. Especially when you have an interest for authentic real brand stuff. Because I'd rather have a few of the real things than a lot of cheap fake stuff.

I've done that before with Chanel shoes on eBay from highly rated sellers. I got them, authenticated them, found out they were fake and returned them (the person swore up and down that it was a real pair of Chanel but they would refund me because they want me to be happy). They even gave me a coupon to buy from them again...pffff. Happy you got your money back!

A first clue that the bag is fake is the price, $300.00 vs $3,000.00 . Your not stupid for buying it, you got a super fake, premium fake.but keep looking you will find the real one someday, but your not going to pay $300.00 for it
It has been done though. I know it's rare but it's possible especially in an auction. I thought Rakuten was a site I could trust like Yoogi's Closet or fashion phile.. There's a small shop in Tokyo with the same name that guarantees their items. Thought it was the same ..Biggest problem was I didn't know if it definitely was a fake or not as I've never had a luggage tote. Oh well.. At least it was easy enough to return and get a refund. Typically I would agree without a doubt. Just thought Rakuten was a very reliable company and I believed positive reviews. They were in Japanese so can't say I understood perfectly but my husband checked and said they all looked good. Plus it was an invite only auction. $300 is unlikely but not impossible. A youtuber I often watch got a Birkin for $300!! Birkins go for $10,000 to ¥20,000 used. Way crazier than getting a $300 Celine.

Danielle CK actually you're right.. I once lost my brand new pair of ray ban sunglasses. The clubmasters. I collect ray bans and know which are authentic and which are replicas.. I went on ebay and found a college kid selling some for 50$.. I initially thought they were replicas because of the low cost. I messaged him and he insisted they were authentic. I offered him 30$ and he agreed.. When I received them I was happy to see that they were authentic, and brand new! I got lucky on that one.. Saved almost 200$

I know in Japan they do have these authentic designer items, thus if you purchased this from Japan, I believe there might be some way you can sue them, since Japan has very strict law to against replica productions. Sounds like a very good fake- stitching looks very even too. The shopkeepers probably cannot give you an answer as they don't specialize in Celine bags, and even legitimate stores like LV will not give you a solid answer as the fakes floating out there are so realistic. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell if you were walking down the street with it. I'd think it was real.

The shop I went to is quite small but they have signs that say you can sell your stuff there and that they are looking for certain pieces. I haven't seen anything where they say they have to send it out to be authenticated nor did they mention that. Plus they took it to the back and said it'd be about 10 to 15 minutes to check it out. But you are totally right, I don't think anyone there could really authenticate. They couldn't give me an answer cuz I didn't have a receipt...!!???...I should have just gone home and made one. I think you could ask LV to give you a quote to repair something and basically you'd be getting it authenticated...but yeah I don't think the SAs are allowed to authenticate. Just assuming that though. Don't actually know.

I feel so bad for you spending so much money and then getting all exited about finally getting your dream bag and then finding out that it's fake :( Also just some small detail I noticed that also tells you that the bag isn't real is that on your bag celine is writen; cèline while you actually write céline :(

Good tip on the Celine mark over the e. I had no idea! Thanks :) .. And I was lucky in the end. I was able to return it. No more auctions for me.

Also this could happen to any of us who love designer handbags! :) No worries, on the site it isn't written with the accent but when your write it in french the e does have an accent (one of the perks of living in Belgium where you speak both french and dutch :) ) Hope you don't give up on buying designer handbags preloved! and hopefully you will have a gorgeous céline handbag soon! beautywithMj I just stupidly trusted the name Rakuten and the fact that Japan is pretty safe and trustworthy. Didn't realise I say right so much till lots of people so "kindly" pointed it out. I'm working on not saying it. Think I say it a lot cuz people in japan don't always answer or show signs that they are listening, so to get some kind of response, I say it a lot. Need to make some kind of electric shock bracelet to zap me every time I say it.
You could have called Celine Customer Care Service and asked them or your best bet would've just been getting one that is pre-loved for less at any retail store that sells them or pay full price of the bag to avoid these kind of stuff. I know they're pretty expensive but they're really worth it and do last for a while. I'm sorry about the whole thing. :-( I would've been so angry too.
I did put it on the purse forum. The women said it seemed off but needed more pics. But then I found the site that said my serial number was fake. So I sent it back and very luckily got my money back. I'm definitely going to stick to the 2nd hand shops I know here in Tokyo and hopefully someday I'll be able to buy it full price in the actual store. I'm actually leaning to the trapeze now. I would've gone mad if they hadn't return my money or anything but pre-loved bags aren't that bad and it does save you some money. The Trapeze bag is actually really nice and under appreciated. The suedes on that bag are just so beautiful, especially in the natural colours.
I just watched a review that said the trapeze was a bit hard to get into..With my last 3 purchases being the Chanel double flap, Chloe paraty, and LV speedy..ALL hard to get into, I really want an easy bag..Are there even any easy designer bags?! I don't know but i'm still having fun looking....Recently I have been full on hunting for a pre-loved Chanel boy bag and can not find the one (or ones) I want...What will I do if I actually find it?! It will free up a lot of my time ;)
