    They appointed Pochettino and now sacked him because he wanted to win.

    We've just pushed out a manager who was trying to uphold the club's culture. Strangely enough, he was the one person who understood what Chelsea is and ironically help aid Roman's vision, of having a brimming academy, being realised. The club has now embraced Reece James as the undisputed club captain (rightfully or wrongfully), we've put him front and centre of the team yet it was Poch's decision in the first place; now it seems as if it was always destined to be. Fans and pundits alike were pining for Silva or someone more experienced to be captain yet Poch understood the long term vision. He was trying to develop a homegrown/English-oriented captaincy and hierarchy within the squad with James, Chilwell, Gallagher, Colwill and Chalobah being the lynchpins. For years we were mocked for solely having continental players now we're sacking a manager for wanting to establish a fundamentally English core. He's given debuts to Alfie Gilchrist, Michael Golding, Alex Matos, Josh Acheampong and Leo Castledine, in his first season, more than any other previous manager, under arguably the most tumultuous conditions. What makes this all the more disappointing is that previous years under Roman we felt as if every sacking was ultimately in order to course-correct, in this case it seems as if we're just steering ourselves into uncharted waters with many fighting for the wheel. Poch knew the league and now knew his team, whoever we get would need another adjustment period. Plus even then, what guarantees would have that he won't be sacked for a above-average season? The entire team wanted the manager to stay. Even under the great Tuchel, Conte and Mourinho we had players fall out with them, not with Poch. This is the odd occasion in our history where the team had more faith in the manager than the board. If anything the player's opinion should matter most as they are the ones who work with him daily. Players can never truly buy into a manager's tactics now because their opinion is not valued by the higher-ups. Eventually the players will develop their own "player power mentality" since the managers will be an ever revolving door whilst they're the constants. Poch developed into a father figure for this young crop, helping them develop their games. That's what Fergie did all too well. He may not have been the "winning-mentality" manager we needed long term but he was the right coach for right now. The next manager will be likely be stoic and cold because he'll be fighting for his job from day-one, no patience for these young lads, he'll get frustrated and leave, then the cycle continues again. Just gutted.

    Way too late we were lucky. Last 5 games wasn't Pochettino's doing and our opponents hit the post/bar like 9 times. He doesn't have the brain. Someone must have finally taught him how to go about it. I don't believe it was Pochettino's idea. Everyone at least 90% wanted Pochettino out 7 matches ago. Remember the march against Arsenal. Then nobody wanted to give Pochettino a chance like Arsenal gave Arteta.

    Chelsea board have no desire to bring any manager who will challenge them or have opinions on incoming and out going players. They also want to be challenging City and Arsenal and play possession Pep style football. And the plan is to sign unproven immature youngsters and an unproven manager to guarantee this. No manager worth his salt will become the next Chelsea manager. We won't get De Zerbi or Frank or Tuchel or Flick. Michel has already turned us down and Kompany is too opinionated for them this season. It looks like Amorim is a back up choice and Sebastian Hoeneß is the most realistic from the current candidates. The plan to be the next city with this approach is literally madness. Poch clearly told the board we need 3 experienced played in their mid 20's like Osimhen calibre and De light to replace Thiago and Ramsdale as a keeper and they don't want to sign anyone proven. Only unproven potential which will win you absolutely nothing especially with a YES MAN puppet you control manager with only a few years experience outside the premier league. It's INSANITY & MADNESS if that's the blueprint to win.

    • @420_Emissary
      @420_Emissary 24 дні тому

      @@Stu_Kennedy The Recency bias is all too real. We keep using the Arsenal game as a stick to beat Poch with or even the Wolves and Liverpool games. Firstly, this team was comprised of relatively all new players and was the youngest squad in the league, there are bound to be growing pains and mental fragility as they're not only finding their feet in a new team but for some a whole new city. There's no mention of how this team held its own 3 times against City (arguably should've won the semi final), impressive in the first EPL game against Liverpool and outplayed them in the final, beat the media darlings Spurs (twice), outwitted Emery, beat English's golden boy in Howe and arguably didn't take our chances against Arsenal at the Bridge along with a consistent end of season form. I'd rather we improve exponentially towards the end of the season than regress towards the end (1 defeat in 15...almost half the games in a season). It shows that the team held together better than previous more experienced squads. Secondly, this is Poch's first season here...this is Arteta's fifth...they once lost 5-0 to City, 4-0 to Liverpool & 3-0 in the reverse fixture in the same season. Were Arsenal not the laughing stock at a stage? Now fans and neutrals alike are kissing their a*s like they've always been this good. I also recall the great Pep losing 4-0 to Everton and 5-2 to Leicester plus all the early failings of tiki taka not working in England, the rest is history. Liverpool lost 7-2 to Aston villa one year...no alarm bells were rung. I recall even Sarri losing 6-0 to City yet he's still held in high regard by fans. Thirdly, we've scored over double the amount of goals we had under Tuchel, Potter, Saltor and Lamps. We couldn't score to save our lives with even more experienced players and four (!) different managers. Fourthly, he's improved player performances across the board. What we need to realise is that man management is an underrated commodity in this day and age. Maintaining team morale amongst a large squad and improving them is extremely difficult. Why do you think no one is lining up to sign Conte, Tuchel or Jose? In this day and age combustible, cutthroat managers are not desirable anymore. They come in, win things, fall out with some if not most playing staff then leave in a blaze of glory and brimstone. They're 2-3 year stint managers at most. They rarely leave any players improved or established within the team. Palmer wouldn't have even come close to reaching these heights with the other stoic, rigid and formation-driven managers who were available. They wouldn't have let him roam as much as he did. Jackson would be written off by anyone else even whilst lacking options. Madueke's childish ways would've had him benched indefinitely yet Poch kept them all onside. He spent 5 years in this league...yet did well with less funding and more mediocrity all round. Turned Kane, Dele Alli, Son Eriksen etc into elite players. Poch's teams get better with time, Jose's and the likes regress into unbearably toxic environments. Anyone who's available now will lack EPL experience. We label Poch as a bottle job but the same aforementioned managers failed to do any better at Spurs. Other than the PSG job, where every manager fails to impress, he hasn't had a fair crack with a big team for an extended period. He is a quality coach who has sadly aged without a fair shot. Now that younger, progressive managers are in fashion we are going to suffer, we learnt the hard way with Andre Villas Boas. We needed an experienced manager, had the tactical acumen and who would deflect blame and protect the players. The new manager will be fighting for himself. Sure, he was never meant to be the end game manager but we need someone to build the team then bring a "winning" manager after a couple of years once the players have found themselves. Quality of the man though, he left here with certain players now established, just like at spurs, leaving us in better shape which is more than what recent managers have done....still imparting wisdom on the players even in the face of uncertainty. We will rue this decision in the long run.
