I still go into the grocery store. I don't even like to go through the self check-out...so impersonal. When I went through the regular checkout line at my local grocery store this morning, the cashier said, "Thank you for coming in. It's really good to see you." ❤
I'm 48 years old and went thru life with 3 best friends. They are all I need. As we get older we are making it a priority to get our families together more often and we are loving it! We have definitely pulled each other thru some difficult times together.
Thank you for this beautiful encouragement. We moved about a year ago and I slowly see the Lord bringing good friends after a long time of prayer and actively building community. He is faithful :)
My best friend from childhood and the teen years lives across the country. During Covid, we started first with doing a Zoom Bible study and prayer together and now sometimes it’s just chatting but it’s wonderful! We have kept it up every Wednesday morning at 9:30/1130 and it’s great and I’m so excited to be flying out to her daughters wedding in a couple weeks..❤️
I have only gotten to the conclusion that recently that I have Autism. This is the true reason why I was bullied as a child. I have many accuetices (people around me). Who I have helped, but when I ready needed something back, never received any microness back. I do prefer to be Alone than and not be let down.
I think the lockdown during Covid escalated the problem with loneliness, certainly in people who had to isolate. Even getting back to church regularly is difficult. Thank you for your insights
@intherockies there is nothing wrong with worshipping some at home, but the Bible says we are to be the body of Christ. We need each other in this cruel world we live in.
You're so right, Diana. I'm grateful for my best friend, who is like a sister to me. I do have friends at church, but none of them are as close as Kim and I are. Of course, I consider my husband my best friend because we do life together everyday and I love that man of mine ❤.
I play on a bunco team monthly, I joined a book club last summer, I’m in a sorority and a peo group plus have regular lunch or dinner times with friends and past co-workers. One of my lunch groups are a group of moms who 25 years ago we parents of seniors in high school and were on the senior parent committee and met regularly and have continued to do so because we enjoyed each others company so much.
I love being alone. :) I am a Pastor's wife and I am very extroverted. But I love getting in the woods to hike or waterfall chasing all by myself and love it. I don't mind eating a meal by myself. I am always connecting so I am in place where I want to disconnect
my grandmother and her mother lived in a small village in France. women met in the circle in summer, (in a church or village area in winter) and knitted etc. weekly. Families also lived together or near each other. I do think tv/computer changed a lot of things. Thank you for the video!!!

The whole cell phone and internet makes personal relationships more impersonal intentionally. Let us think the devil may be working in these things. No one calls each other few people but elderly have a home phone anymore. Texting and email are very impersonal pushing people apart more and more. Thanks for the insight Dianna! I definitely have a good handful of close friends, but trying to find time where it’s convenient to get together proves to be difficult! I have one friend that it seems like every time I text or call to see if she can go on a walk or go to lunch or whatever she has an excuse. It makes me want to stop trying…. it’s not like either of us have small kids either. She recently retired so maybe we can start to rekindle that friendship.
My best friend is my husband. Lol I have four very young children. They are my priority right now. My old friends understand that this is my "season" for children.

Hi Diana, there was a time in my life when I feel like I was on the other side of the spectrum, I've had friends but realizing I had to step back so I can focus on my mental health. I was the go to person and it took the toll on me. I became overwhelmed with too much information, problems, personal issues about them thrown at me and it became too much for me to handle mentally and emotionally. I kept praying thinking I was in a good stable and healthy state of mind over all so I should have the capacity to be more giving and thoughtful for my friends who are deeply in need of someone to reach out to and listen. Ultimately, it was too much. Perhaps we can have a conversation about this as well. It would be really nice to hear your perspective on this. Thank you.
I have 5friends in five states and now I will be moving to another state and I will have to make new friends find a new church start all over again. IConnect with my friends from the other states by phone but I longed for a physical friend close by to do things with.
People are too diverse now. Used to be we all had the same values and lifestyles. Now, there are those from other cultures, other lifestyles, other political beliefs. I have aquaintances I do community things with, go to lunch, but nothing intimate.
I have a number of chronical illnesses that stops me from going out. I rarely go to a store, and when I do, it's with my husband. Due to a former terribly abusive relationships, I lost all my friends I had before. I basically have no life. Meeting new people give me panic attacks. This comes from ptsd Even opening the door for the mailman twists my stomach I have no friends at all, and no clue how to make them since I am always at home
Hi Diana, funny you should say this on the 30th we are having an outside annual party we all take buffet food what drink we want and chairs and go over the road to a young couples drive and have a get together our neighbours in our close and have a lovely evening. Me and hubby have been here over 40 year and we and one other couple are the originals so it’s good to get together with all the new family’s which have moved in as others have left, it’s so nice xx

I think for me i want friendship to build organically. Although i am disabled and don't work idk how i thought it would happen. Lol. Lots of past hurts. And even church hurt. Not all of us were blessed to still have friends from high school
Until 2019 I had a husband, 2 kids- one still at home, 3 best friends & had been teaching at our homeschool co-op. In the fall of 2019 my father & husband both died suddenly just 5 weeks apart. Six months later my youngest child got married & moved out, then the pandemic happened. Since then I have lost all 3 of my best friends- 2 died & the other one stepped away from our friendship. Even as independently spirited as I am and as an introvert, I very much miss having someone to go out to eat with, to go do fun things with, to go on trips with, to chat about day to day things with. The isolation is really hard.
I can relate. I went through a divorce after 27 yr marriage. My kids are both grown and living in different states. I don't date because I'm just not interested. It's hard to make friends when you're disabled suffering from pain and fatigue. I don't feel like getting out 98% of the time. I live in the country so no neighbors. I just want to say I understand.

I’m involved in a great church and do life groups. I have some friends, but a lot of them have husbands. So I’m trying to fit in and adjust to my new life. My mom, wich is 80 tells me she used to have coffee chats all day with neighbor women before the husbands got home. Boy has time changed. I get so lonely. Between work and taking carevof my husband and house i have no time. I wouldn't think i would be in this position.

My friends are all to far away to hang out with except one and she's a single mom with a full time job. I don't have kids, I am a tomboy and love cars, fishing, hiking, biking but I can't seem to find anyone I get along with locally. Don't say try to get to know your neighbors...that doesn't work where I live. I am alone a lot, hubby is a truck driver, I am a only child so I am used to it. I'm not the type to go out of my way to talk to people. I'm sure its not good mentally but not a whole lot I can do about it, up to God to bring people to me because he knows my personality. Side note, I'm upset with God right now for a few reasons, one main one recently, so I'm not talking to him either right now.

I will say that depending on where you live and whether or not you are married, single, divorced and what your age is plays a big part. Once the kids are grown, it is REALLY difficult to find COMPATIBLE ladies with similar interests. (Who have time for new friends!)
