Not in vraks but Goge Vandire used a personal shield to "prove" that Big E was protecting him. He told someone to shot him in the head. That worked because shields small and powerful enough to be carried around without being bulky are incredibly rare. That was also why the sniper thought the chance was very small for Zaffon to have one as well.

@@bgcvetan i doubt it was the exact same device considering the how small and insignificant Zaffon is compared to candire. I doubt his specific device would wander from Terra all the way to a different sector. 57:55 It's because it's Kreeg. They are extreamly orderly, and almost never question the orders that they get. Mainly because for them to advance in the comand chain you actualy have to do something for it. As in surviving battles and gaining more and more combat and tactical experience. So they pretty much assume that the leader knows it best.

About the drop pods launching decoys. Although it's rarely mentioned in the novels. The Space Marines actually launch decoy drop pods when they go for the planet strike. Usually the 1st wave is only decoys so that 2nd wave can better avoid incoming because the enemy has revealed where they are.

CVR, sending first-wave of "empty" (loaded with automated turrets) drop pods and then spreading them among the second wave of pods with actual marines is the standard tactic.
Main problem with drop assault is not about drop-pods being blown up mid-air. Main problem is Vraxian ground-to-space defenses blowing up space marine ships before they can launch dtop pods to begin with.

I think the point of the 100 year plan was to take advantage of Vrak's finite resources and presumed incapability to repair the Orbital defence systems, as someone in another comment pointed out the real danger in the first plan wasn't really to the drop pods themselves but to the ships that they would have to launch from, this plan alleviates much of that danger by removing the main defence against starships.

The drop pods the adepts astartes use do use dummy drop pods that don't contain space marines. A large portion of them are just there to slam into the ground, open, and then spray the surrounding area with heavy weapons fire from the heavy weapons contained with in so the drop pods containing space marines have time to slam into the ground, open, let the space marines out, and give them the couple of seconds they need to get out and get firing.
And normal people can't use drop pods without wearing specialized suits because the slamming into the ground part would reduce a normal person without one of the specialized suits into jelly splattered around on the inside of the drop pod.

When it comes to the siege of vraks, I think maybe. It would be a good idea to incorporate chapters that officially maybe have come from loyalist legions but unofficially came from one specific traitor legion. I'm talking about the iron warriors which were a legion that specialized in siege warfare, this would mean for example the minotaurs chapter and I think also the silver skulls chapter. Along side the death Korp of krieg they would be quite good in my opinion. As for the the star port idea you have, I suppose chapters that specialize in aggressive fast deployment would be a good fit, chapters that hate staying still. But I'm not sure if the white scars for example would be a good fit because I remember you saying at one point that being defensive would be a good strategy against them.

The orbital laser defenses would wreck any ship before a large number of drop pods would hit the surface as strike cruisers need to have there void sheilds turned off.
Two you need to convince a chapter to commit a force to vraks which hard it's takes negotiations and a reward of some sort to get them to risk there lives. Unless ofc you can find the rare as balls lamenters or the self sacrificing salamanders or there successor chapters. They would say yes in exchange for hugs for the salamanders and maybe some head pats for the lamenters if any survive.

They didn't really have a choice on who was in command, that was down to the High Lords. The Imperium doesn't have the authority to command the Astates and it took a lot of persuasion for some to make a guest appearance before going off to do their own thing. As for the Battle Sisters, they wouldn't get involved because of who they were fighting. If however, the Adpetus Sororates assigned to the Cardinal were to discover what was going on behind the scenes and got word back to their order, then the Inquisition would have done a lot more then send an assassin.

    • @eichler721

@@stewartleslie3292 I commented but for some reason it removed it.
So again the Sisters of Battle would have absolutely been involved as it was a fallen Cardinal and their Sisters where on the planet as a bodyguard. However due to the Ordo Hereticus botching the assassination and them not being in charge of the army they used their Ecclesiastical contacts to make sure they didn't send troops and tried to leverage them later when the General was replaced. Someone like the High Lords can absolutely tell Astartes to assist in a war even if they can't directly tell them what to do and they have the Minotaurs as their personal Astartes Chapter. However a local commander and war General cannot tell them anything but some like Arnem who got Astartes help would be able to get some assistance. Plenty of reasons for this war to be won easily However the political fighting from the Ordo Hereticus and the rest of the factions caused most of the issues here.

    • @stewartleslie3292
      @stewartleslie3292 3 роки тому

@@eichler721 The problem is though the cardinal wasn't fallen, it was a deacon that was the heretic. The cardinal was just naïve. Once the Ordo Hereticus gave the order to assassinate, that created problems between the Inquisition and the Ecclesiarchy, and this came to a boiling point when the Inquisition finally took command. This was demonstrated even further when the Sisters that was assigned to the Cardinal were found, rushed away in secrecy, and deemed corrupted. That was clearly a political message.
This war should not have even started. The Inquisition should have sent an Inquisitor instead of an assassin. That way, the deacon would have been exposed sooner. But the war started, and as you have said, it was political fighting that caused the most issues.
Would the Astartes have made a difference though? There was 3 times they were involved. Once they destroyed the space port and moved on when they didn't find what they was looking for. The second time was through political favours, and they paid a heavy price for their assistance but they managed to break the first line of defence for Vraks, then moved on. And both of these times, Chaos was yet to make an appearance. The third time, they finally came with more than just company strength, but even so it was more of a tactical error from Chaos than the Astartes breaking the third defensive line.

Administratum is all that, turned up to 110 and torn out the dial (I think that's been already covered on this channel so I'll leave it there). As for the mass drop pod decoys, there's a special armed one called Deathwind pod (with choice of heavy bolters or missiles, if memory serves). The problem being, ofc, that planetary defences would have picked the ships trying to deploy them off, another problem might be that space marine vessels don't have that many drop pods to spare, granted, marine strike cruisers and battle barges might have enough for such a tactic (retrieving all those later would be problematic I'm sure).

The main problem would be getting the astartes to agree to the plan, it’s akin to Britain saying
Let’s invade China by sending in US forces in via helicopter and well follow up on the rear.
And unfortunately astartes are very autonomous and so by suggesting that they should be forced to lose over half of their entire chapter and precocious drop pods which would be akin to ramming a US carrier into a sea port to stop it from working, as well as getting the crew on board to agree to the plan, and whilst storm troopers and shock troops are ideal unfortunately they won’t have any heavy weapons or fire support, plus their aircrafts would be shot out of the sky, and if anyone does make it they’ll be too few in numbers and firepower to do anything, a fully armed and armored marine vs a pillbox isn’t too much problems but a lone soldier vs a pillbox armed with a laser pointer is another thing, as well as finding the men, arming and supporting them, as well as the deadline which might seem long for us but is more or less a month by imperial standards.

On the topic of personal shields and divine acts … it has been done before. By Goge Vandire. He straight up asked to be shot at point blank range after a short prayer, and the Sorroritas took it as a miracle. Heck of a stunt. As Megamind said: Presentation!
As Arch mentioned in his prior video, personal shields are incredibly rare, to the point of ignorance even by rather well-informed forces. It is completely conceivable anything short of an Inquisitor or Space Marine wouldn’t even recognize one, and would write it off as some sort of psychic power. Possibly one from the Emperor; He does like gold after all, so his divine shields probably look exactly like a mundane shield belt.
To top it of these devices are barely understood. As is the assasinorum’s Exitus Rifle. Even if someone figured out he was wearing one, he could easily say, and even show, the Exitus can fire clean through a personal shield. It probably could punch through a shield by virtue of sheer kinetic energy alone, even without it’s dedicated anti-shield ammunition.
So … yeah. This is the perfect lie. He bare Lilly had to change a thing, and in all probability the only force that could call him on it would be the Assasinorum itself, and even then only if they had full access to the scene. Even the Inquisition would be hard pressed to figure out how he survived, and likely might assume Warp influence of some kinda.

    • @liamhogan4369
      @liamhogan4369 3 роки тому

I forgot to add; the Ecclesiarchal Rosarius and the Crux Terminatus show many shield generators are popularized as the Emperor’s Divine protection by the Imperium for the reasons I listed above. Piggybacking on that train would be trivial.
Also the Mechanicus would probably be able to put it together. But they probably would say nothing, and likely couldn’t be understood by those earnestly trying to even if they did. And would likely know well-reasoned arguments only fly in very limited circumstances in the Imperium, of which convincing vast quantities of religiously fanatical undereducated laborers is not one.

If you're thinking about dropping so many drop pods to just overwhelm the AA, sure the casualty rate would drop. But then too many expensive drop pods would be wasted, even if you strip the decoys of any unnecessary interior and systems. Losing 2 - 6 million guardsmen would be preferable.

The whole Adding in Decoy Drop pods sadly does not work out (atleast with the given number being a %)
Example you drop 1000 pods and just for simplicity sake lets say 50% gets shot down
so you have 500 that land thus 500 marines on the ground
Now if you use decoys and fire 2000 pods (1000 manned and 1000unmanned) you end up loosing 50% that means you loose 1000 pods resulting in around 500 marines landing and 500 empty pods landing
Thought there are of course questions of Why do they take down a Certain %
Is that a Estimate given their forces (so the ammount of drop pods they would use) ageinst the enemy deffenses then yhea Droping decoys might work
Second possibilitie the Anti Orbital/air cannons are strong eneught to cover a certain % of the sky in fire that simply would not even be obstructet bye drop pods (thought i think thats the same kind of defense the Tyranids managed to clog up using sheer masses of flyers macking that unlikely) meaning the number does not matter it only matters if you happen to be in a area fired upon Then it actualy could still work thought it would have to be extremly well planned to guide the enemy to shot at the areas where you deploy the Decoys while trying to only deploy the real ones in the small spaces in between the Coverage of the Ground Defenses
Thought thats of course a giant Gamble where you count on being able to predict where a Untrained Insurgent force unable to properly communicate is gonna concentrate their fire
