Right - I have a hard time referring to this as Rachel Ames' "performance" because it's so much more than that. She's mourning the loss of her onscreen partner of 32 years.
Steve Hardy death in the show was yet another great storyline with such good acting. John Bernadino died in real life so the show once again wrote it into the storyline. General hospital actors are such a family and u can tell by the Awesome excellent acting that they truly cared for each other. Great to see We miss Steve
Nice that Audrey reflects on her insecurities and her troubled years before she could commit. She was the good bad girl, a lot like Monica, Bobbie, Lucy and Carly, although Carly's regressed to insufferable.
I wish she was not included in this episode. Let them focus on her selfishness another day. Even SB got to be included even though as he was now J. Morgan, he knew JB. Let the people who knew him, be included in remembering him actor and character.
Didn't get to see this when it originally aired in 1996, and hadn't been able to watch GH for a while before that due to work schedule at the time :( I don't recognize the man that is talking to first Tony, then Robin, then Audrey ... Who was that?
This was beautifully done. From the writing, to Rachel Ames’ acting to the music played while Audrey is talking….wow.
I believe this was more than acting These actors who had been there with GH for many years loved this man who really died right before this.

The show was fantastic back in those days !
Steve Hardy was a father figure to almost everyone at GH.
The grief was real, the reaction of the characters was real.
These scenes are so heartbreaking
Thank you so much for posting this !

ITA
He passed away, the same month of my dear grandmother. Whom I still miss.
Rachel Ames is brilliant here. And not for nothing, but SJB as Original Carly is so consistent with LW's Carly..it's almost seamless.
I think they resemble each other.
Even Carly made it all about herself.
Yep as usual. Blah ugh!!!!
Carly is so selfish; making it about herself.
She is awful as she can be. SMH
This is a time when soap were more realistic today they are so "plastic"
CARLY MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT HER... LOL!!! THE SIGNS WERE THERE.???
True that
Right!
You bet ALWAYS
It gets better
Carly has always been selfish LOL
true

That's Dr Kevin Collins, he was involved with Lucy Coe at the time but is now still on the show and married to Laura.
^ actuaLLy kevin coLLins was on port charLes (at Least part of the time) whiLe port charLes was on air on abc daytime .
Steve Burton was still slightly attractive then.
I believe the actor died the same day the Daytime Emmys were handed out.
They announced his death during the ceremony I remember that
