      That flute plays “A Friend Since Gone” from TR:1. A nod to St. Francis’ Folly.

    Some things I wish had been done in subsequent TR games is take full advantage of the world building the first game did.
    In TR3 the final level of the Lost City of Tinnos has a feel that is almost atlantean in the technology used. And TR:TLR took us back to Egypt but there is no mentioning of the culture of Atlantis that helped shape Egypt according to the first game.
    Not that I am against TLR going full Egypt in the way it did but it would have been nice to see a return of Atlantean mummies and things like that.
    One final thing that always bothered me is that from what I had seen of AoD (i admit i never played it and only watched the cutscenes stiched together like a film) there is very little mentioing of what happened in TLR. What about the cultural impact of an actual Egyptian GOD being real and terrorizing Cairo?! Did people just forget about the plagues and monsters and demons that attacked cities in the wake of Set's awakening?!
    I like that each TR game in the Core days was its own self-contained adventure with nods to previous games coming the form of little easter eggs, it helps new players become welcomed to the games better, but I would have liked more connectivity.

    Is this song a remix of A Friend Since Gone from Tomb Raider 1? TV Tropes seems to think so but I only notice a similar riff in places. I don't know if Nathan is watching but if so, is this a remix of that song?

      It’s not particularly a remix per say , ive just finished reading an interview with Nathan McRee & he said when working on Tomb raider 3 “I was also able to reference melodies and harmonies from the previous games” which gives it a nice flow & feel to it.. , I think the most difficult part is coming up with melodies etc to begin with for e.g the tomb raider theme, because it sets the tone for everything to come.. , Peter conney used Nathan’s compositions as a basis which he used beautifully to make tomb raider the last revelation theme & other compositions for tomb raider 4 & 5.

      Go away *Angrily stares at you* TR 3 is my second favourite TR, the variety of levels kept it really interesting. TR IV was the only better one as I see it because the riddles were better.

    • @darthkahn45
      @darthkahn45 7 років тому

      It was developed under unnecessarily stressful and rushed conditions, this isn't opinion it's actual testimony from Core employees who worked on the game. If Core had their way Tomb Raider 3 would have been in development so long it would have been a PS2 launch title and the unique, innovative and refined mechanics they intended to include would have made the game 1000x better than what we got. Core wanted TR to be special, unfortunately Eidos were only interested in making money.

      I thought it was a magnificent game - even the cut scenes were bloody marvelous. And the levels: the Masonic temple hidden in the disused underground station, with weirdos in gorilla masks running about, running around the desert then ending up imprisoned then in Area 51 and the UFO, then the raptors and TRex. Christ, it was excellent

      Tomb Raider 3 was rushed, yet it's better designed than Tomb Raider 2.
