My personal hidden gem that whenever someone comes to my house I sell as "You should play it with me today because you won't find it anywhere else" is "Topoum". It's a game about moles fighting for the last fertile terrain in a WW1 battlefied . Kind of an area control game where you choose your actions from the cards available in a common marketplace and try to build lines of sight between your different moles. It's a cool concept and I really like the theme of little moles with WW1 uniforms and weapons.
It’s light and okay. It was my entry into the competition. My son loves it. Good beer and pretzels kind of light game. It’s also incredibly affordable which adds to the appeal in my opinion.
I'm really interested in Riverside, it looks intriguing... That said, you mentioned about what makes a hidden gem, and I don't think anything within the last 3 years should be considered "a hidden gem". Anything that can fall into cult of the new would end up getting a lot of votes simply by name recognition that can swing the vote. That said, hidden gem is a really tough one to vote on :).
That was my argument as well. Should be games that are at least 3+ years old so BGG has a chance to properly rate the game. They don’t push games up into their appropriate spot in the rankings until it has a number of ratings and has been out for a few years.
5:07 Only problem - by the time we search for all but one of these games, they won’t be available, because they will have already spontaneously combusted! :-
Rallyman is just a fun push-your-luck racing game. Fairly clean in regards to rules and not very complex. Plus, it works well as a game where you play a season and track players rank across multiple races.
now i want Riverside and Spire's End xD i need to play Brew more but i'm happy he got so far ! Adventure tactics looks interesting too...but they all burned :(
Man… I wish Bounce Off would have still been in this competition and went and destroyed all the other games - this is its quintessential deathmatch that cries out for it!
Haha, wow that's better than me! When making the bracket I tried to lean more towards somewhat known titles but there were still a couple that I hadn't heard of that we're cool to learn about
I'm not unfortunately, I'm doing a show so I couldn't make it. We'll see if it's in the cards next year, it seems like a magical wonderland where everyone will guaranteed spend too much money haha
@@RoomandBoardReviews ahh that’s too bad. I was hoping to hang with another person who can quietly judge obsessive consumerism with me! I’ve constrained to 70$ so far…
@@sq4you That's pretty good, there's a ton there that really interests me, but also I have a ton of already interesting things as well. I feel like I'd want to go crazy on the demos and feel good about not getting most of it, but flagging things to snag at a deal down the road
@@RoomandBoardReviews yah the compulsion to buy is strong. but a lot of the games aren’t even available so that makes it easy. and then others that look very shiny/attractive on kickstarter/gamefound don’t seem as “magical” in person so that’s valuable knowledge (like do I really want all these enormous boxes in my apartment?). And free demos also help rule out a lot too. #fightthefomo ✊🏼
I just want to give a shout out to my personal favorite hidden gems in an effort to make them a little less hidden. Toy Story: Obstacles and Adventures, Apex Theropod Collected Edition, and IDWs Adventures Universal Gaming System with Batman and the Ninja Turtles are all great games that I really enjoy.
@@RoomandBoardReviews if you've never played it, I would try and find it. I played it for the first time this weekend twice and I had to find this video just to comment this. I've never felt a game has been do criminally underrated to the point that I've never even heard about it.
Nice video. I’m not sure these are really hidden gems at least to me. I’d consider hidden gems to be like Iron Helm, Rogue Dungeon, Secrets of the Lost Tomb, Dungeon Degenerates, Alice’s Garden, Don’t Let It Die, Fog of Love, Comanauts, Holding On, Escape the Dark Castle/Sector etc…
@@RoomandBoardReviews Cool! A new one I just heard about recently is also Wayward. If you follow The Dungeon Dive on UA-cam, he advertises a lot of hidden gems/indie titles.
I dont really know why you think spire's end is a one shot! As someone who's played through it multiple times, it definitely isn't. Also, while yes its somewhat a choose your own adventure, it's not just reading cards and choosing a or b; there's combat, and rng in there as well. It can also be played as a 2 player co-op rather than just solo btw
I love Rallyman GT, but for the push your luck nature of it, it takes a long time. I prefer Rallyman thematically but Flamme Rouge is just a better game for what it is, shorter, even easier, and everyone goes simultaneously as opposed to 1 at a time which can bog the game down!
29:00 What? How can Moonrakers qualify for this bracket!? I protest. This competition is illegitimate… It’s rigged. If Moonrakers wins, I could never watch another Deadmatch again! :-
Watched the game, burned my money accordingly hahaha. Had to get Ratland and The table is lava 😆 watch me be responsible with my money…..starting tomorrow
@@RoomandBoardReviews but you give only the patrons to choose, most of the times it's not what the other audience here think... Can you make the choice more wide?

I can’t believe Gloomhaven didn’t win
Frosthaven was 4919. It should've been nominated.
There are many hidden gems, and how fun it is when you discover one. Out of the game up on this death match, my vote would have gone with Barony.
Rallyman Cars is one of my favorite jokes on this channel and I’m happy to see it come back

A very thematic tiebreaker methodology. My favorite, of those few I’ve played, is Bullet.
You're definitely not alone there! Sounds pretty cool

22:29 Wow, I have never heard of Fire Tower… Fitting that it is most likely to get 🔥 ed…

@Room and Board @31:22 No pics, no proof!
Haha that's what the Room and Board instagram should be, just pictures of Bounce Off found in the wild!
Legitimately, that's what I'm going to do with it hahaha you can know you were the reason that happened
44:00 Yay!!!! I can continue watching these Deathmatches! :-
Thanks for the shout friend. I look forward to the next time we can get a game to the table even if it ends up being at next year's Origins.

You betcha!
WHAT THE SHIP just happened to my copy of flipships?! 🔥
5:22 But Cosmic Frog should have been paired against Crash Octopus! :-
13:01 So basically, it is more similar to Rolling Realms…

I've played Gravwell!! A friend introduced it to me
Oh awesome :)
16:22 Wait… I thought Radland was one of the top games… How does it qualify for this bracket? :(
19:13 That’s a very dangerous thing to do, Chris! Are you ok with something happening to your game?
I'm sure nothing bad will happen to i-- oh noooooooo

Dark Moon uses to be my favorite Traitor game, but it was supplanted by The Menace Among Us, that would be a good one for another hidden gem dm.

Gosh Chris, why do you hate the environment we could recycle games, but instead you want to spontaneously set them ablaze.
We can recycle the winners! They have to earn that privilege!
I love Rallyman GT!
The only one of those that I have playe is . . . Bounce Off!
The only one you ever need :)
I am rooting for Cosmic Frog but betting on Moonrakers because of all the recent publicity. I was personally super disappointed in Bargain Quest.
What happened to Smash Up! 🤨
