I build this rock separator (aka grizzly screen) from 3x3x.250 angle for the frame and 2x2x.250 for the rock separator bars. I then used a couple of used / left over I beams for a skid.
I made the top of the screen (looking at it flat) 10' x 10'. In retrospect, I should have made it 6' 9" tall by 10' wide to save on materials. I also should have just made it slightly flatter than I did. The material moves a little too fast down, and will carry dirt with it.

making a grizzly out of salt sander screens.Thinking about 78 inch tall 2 foot in the front just big enough to get my bobcat in to get the screened dirt. Very nice build!

That’s a good idea! Yes don’t go to tall. It’s one of my regrets on mine. It was also wasted material since I pretty much only use the bottom 3/4 of it.

Can you just put a wedge underneath the front to flatten the angle out? Maybe stick a log or something under the front side?

Thank you! That would be tough since the price fluctuates like crazy.

Hi nice vid perfect length. What was approximate cost of the steel?

At the time, it cost me 450. I think now it would be triple. Definitely would put some effort trying to find a used one at today’s prices. I also should’ve made it shorter and less steep. It would have saved steel.

What angle did you make yours?

I’m pretty sure it was 60*

How much did this cost you?

I think at the time the angle was $40 each 20’. I’m guessing currently it’s close to double that. The rest of the metal is salvaged. If I were to do it again I wouldn’t make the top as big to save material. It’s not necessary. Maybe $500-$700 into it 3 years ago.
