    Holey bovines, this video turned out a lot longer than I had expected. In fact, I had to cut out some content just to reel things down a notch or two. Also ran into an unexpected technical issue with flickering lights; had to mess around with the video to reduce most of it at some cost. Hopefully the video isn't too badly compromised.     Good video. One thing I think a lot of riders overlook is bike maintenance and the lifespan of parts. If you're planning on a major event like PBP, make sure your bike is in top working order at the start line. This may involve replacing all wheel/bottom bracket bearings, getting your spokes looked over/wheels trued right before the event, brand new chain/cassette/chainrings, new cables (if running mechanical shifting/brakes), ensuring all your bolts are tightened to spec, etc. Then, more often than not, you don't need to bring a mobile bikeshop with you. A few allen wrenches (3mm to 6mm usually covers most, maybe an 8mm for pedals), tire levers, tire boots, spare tubes, patch kit, Silca Tattico mini pump which is the best/least effort for a mini pump, some zip ties and duck tape, RD hanger if you crash/bike falls over, valve core removal tool if running valve extenders, chain lube/drip wax (depending on what you use)....and you're good to go in most cases. As you stated, CO2 leaks out of tubes far more quickly and just takes up weight/space, and is a definite no-no for tubeless setups as the CO2 and sealant do not work well together. Also, a multi-tool doesn't usually work in hard-to-reach places, and bringing regular allen wrenches is sometimes a much better option.

      Yup, I usually send my bike for service a few weeks before a major event and I carry a ton of tools and redundancy, which unfortunately adds more weight to my saddle pack... but in general, better safe than sorry!

    When you ride for short distance (100km and below), what equipments/tools that you bring? What is the weight of those?

      For short rides, the usual stuff... spare tube, tyre levers, multitool. And of course pump on the frame. Not sure about weight, don't really care much about that.

      What do you think about handlebar bag? It seems that most if not all audax rondaneurs do not use handlebar bag. They use seatpost bag instead. Will handlebar bag cause problem/hampering the bicycle ie becoming slow?

      Handlebar bag has advantages and disadvantages. One German guy I spoke to in France said it's like a big parachute slowing you down. But on the upside, it provides you with easy access to stuff without needing to stop and get off the bike - usually food and energy gels.

    So you believe that having spare tube is necessary even if I’m using tubeless tires? Is it practical to change the tube as I was made to understand that changing tubeless tire is quite difficult.

      Depends on rim+tube combo, some can be tight, some can be ok. If tight, tyre levers to the rescue. Better to have a tube for emergency, in case the sealant doesn't work. Last BRM600 we already had one case.
